My Rangers are clearly the favorites IMO. Added Rick Nash to an already stacked team with a great mix of talent and veteran leadership on offense and defense.

Out of the east, yes. I think the west is a bit more even this year, than in the past. I am a huge Wings fan, so I am just hoping for no injuries and that the youth of the team begins to develope.

Lets get some hockey talk going. I can't handle the Kelly situation right now...

Will the Caps take the SE division with ease this year?

How will the first half of the season play out? Will we see some incredibly lopsided records, or will the conferences be full of even records?

Whats the maximum amount of games a team will play in 7 days? I read on a Red Wings forum that it will be the same as normal, only 4 games in a 7 days span. Will that be possible with the limited time they have to fit 48 games?

I imagine the schedule to look like the NBA schedule last year.

A lot of back to backs and more 3 in a row sets then normal.

Waiting for the schedule to be released is agonizing... I'm trying to decide if i am going to buy a ticket package... but im stuck becasue the schedule hasnt been released yet. How hard is it to have a worst case scenario schedule ready to go? Why wasn't this always in the back pocket of the league?

Just got home from the "Meet the Players" party at Staples. Got to take a locker room tour. Got down there and the Stanley Cup was in the room. Very cool! So happy to have hockey back!

No way the Pens are the 2nd best team in the league.
Panthers, Hurricanes are too high
Flyers should be a couple spots higher.
Much more wrong with that list, does he watch or know hockey?

I like where he put the Hawks, at 7, but they do need to prove they can hold up on the backend. I always felt it was more indicative of their weak defense rather than goaltending, but they both need work.

I agree with you that the Flyers should definitely be a top 10 team. I don't understand that. Other than that I don't have too many problems with the list. I started to pause when I saw the Canucks that high, but then I realized that they don't start to collapse until it actually matters in the playoffs so they're probably ranked where they should be.

Yep Pens are clearly too low at #2... Flyers in the top half?! Laughable...

Your hilarious man. You guys played so well in the playoffs last year... You lose Staal, your defense still sucks, you are clearly overrated. The flyers are young, will surely be up and down all year, but just wait til the playoffs when again Schenn will SHUT DOWN Cindy and Couturier will once again dominate Malkin.

Rangers at the top sounds about right. I really would be disappointed with anything less than losing the 7th game of the finals due to all our players being injured during the game.

The RedWings being middle of the road is about right. Losing Lidstrom, Stuart and jiri will be tough.

The Wings will be fine. Losing Hudler hurts, but Stuart consistently made mistakes in the playoffs the last 3 years... Not sad to see him go...

We need some young talent to step up this year.

After being able to sign Parise and Sutter and with Granlund in the system I'm hopeful for the future of my Wild. It's not right the State of Hockey doesn't have a Stanley Cup.

Canes are going to be tougher than you think. They are a Top 10 team right now, and making moves to improve. Getting Westgarth today was a very important move to give them some added toughness.

Bwwwaaahahahahahaha!!! Really? He will give you about 2 to 2.5 minutes of ice time a night. He does nothing to "enforce" outside of his scheduled bouts with guys like Parros. As for stick handling, he has hands of stone and doesn't so much "skate" as much as he pushes the ice down.

Don't get me wrong, I like Westy. He is a good dude and he is a great "locker room" guy. But he was a healthy scratch for like the last half of the season because he had no hope of even cracking the fourth line. Plus, he isn't even that great of a fighter. He LOVES to stop punches with his face.

Good luck with that. If Westy is the guy to put the Canes over the top, I will buy you a beer.

They lost Ruutu to hip surgery and he is out till May. They needed to get someone who can bring some toughness and fill the void for a few months. Not saying he is an All Star, but he fills a needed void.
