Much respect for AJ McCarron and the fact that he chose to use his influence in such a positive way in this young girl's life. Thanks for sharing this with us, Bishop.

I like these types of stories. Too often, we only hear about players getting in trouble and forget that a lot of them are truly top-notch young men. There have been several such stories in recent years. Former LSU star Ciron Black got involved in a big way with a young boy fighting cancer. There was a recent story on ESPN about a Michigan lineman and his relationship with a little girl who is fighting a rare life threatening disease. I can't think of his name, but OK States star receiver from last year has been very close for years to a little girl fighting cancer.

These guys have used their fame to raise funds, visited these kids over & over, brought them to practice and games, gone to their birthday parties, sat with them in the hospital, and put countless hours and tons of emotional energy into those kids. They didn't just make an appearance, show up for a photo op, or sign an autograph. They got involved in a major way. They've stayed involved for years. They've put their hearts & souls into those kids as if they were their own child or sibling.

Yep, I'm with you 100%. And not to get too far off track, but it was Justin Blackmon from Oklahoma State. Here's the clip from GameDay last year:

wow hard to beleive its been so long since USC. I gotta say this though, Im excited and nervous about this one. As excited as I am I still realzie what we are up against we have the chance to prove we are back in the best possible way but it will take the best game any ND team has played in the last 15 years to do it. Im worried about Alabama nad im jsut nto sure how this will end up. Either way its the first time since I was 4 years old that I am seeing ND being one of the teams that can walk away with the National title.

Awesome clip, Rocky! Yeah, Justin Blackmon. He's the one I was thinking of but couldn't recall his name. That's very cool stuff.

A couple of years ago, Auburn's star tight end Phillip Lutzenkirchen took a teammate's little sister to her prom - dinner, flowers, and danced every dance with her. She has Down Syndrome. Her classmates elected her prom queen. She got to feel like the queen of the universe for a night.

You may have seen this Video: Trent Richardson goes to prom - AFC North Blog - ESPN from this past spring where Trent Richardson took a hs girl who is fighting cancer to her prom.

The positive effect these guys have had on these kids who are going through such a tough time is beyond measure. These are are all outstanding young men and there are probably some just like them in every program.

Brady Quinn made a difference in the life of a young lady who was dear to us all. My son and daughter-in-law are great friends with her parents. My granddaughter is her namesake.

She passed after a tragic illness in her middle teens. This was after she was granted her wish to meet Brady when he was at Cleveland. I cannot tell you what Brady did for that girl, and during and after her horrible death, what he continued to do for her family. I will tell you with the truth of ages, Brady Quinn is one of the best, of the highest character. And he avoided all media moments.

But I know what you mean. I love it when these guys give something back.

I know how Brian Kelly is such a tough guy. Anyone else ever notice he used to be a Navy Seal Drill Instructor in G.I Jane?

Nico Johnson of AL lost his uncle today, who was an integral part of his upbringing.

He'll be in our prayers.

Looking for a big Colts win tomorrow as a warmup for a big Irish win on Monday. I have a very good feeling about Monday.

Heard ND pep rally had around 12000 people and Bama's had around 750

From people I know there that's how it's been all weekend

Are we there yet?

Are we there yet?

I ask this because I've been known to sleep through events like this. I bought a ticket to go on the booze cruise (harbor tour all you can drink) in Hawaii. When that boat got underway I was passed out drunk in a hotel. Bright side, could have fell over the side and got eaten by the dreaded sea beast or woke up with and married to the seahags sister.I would kill to be in the stands for this one. I wonder if they have a booze cruise in miami?

Prayers for Nico and his uncle and all his loved ones...

Wonder if this will have the same impact as Manti losing his loved ones, and the team will rally around Nico as ND has for Manti.
