I think we steal this kid if the staff really wants him, I see him taking Mattingly's spot and no offense but I see Hollins as an upgrade.

That's a very positive development coming straight from Hollins!

The staff should take this guy for sure. He as an extremely fast first step and like philly said, he is very athletic. You can't have too much depth on your front 7. Bring him in and let him wreck the quarterback with Jaylon and company

Visiting Notre Dame in January after the Semper Fi game, not exact date is set though. He also wants to visit ASU and UCLA but he doesn't know if he will have enough time to do so. Also, he can't go to a school that his mom doesn't approve of. She hasn't been to UCLA yet.

I think if we win over his mom, we win his commitment.

Deciding on NSD

I think if we push hard, we have him. From all I have heard, we already have won his mom.

Landing this young man would be a huge get in my book. Really think he is going to be an impact player and rather quickly. Think he starts making a name for himself by his Soph season. I think he's that good.

Can't argue with that, his first step is amazing! Really want this kid to be a Domer. I also believe he is talented enough to warrant a spot even if we got the 3 most likely remaining and Eddie Vanderdoes. Long-shot I know, but just hypothetically speaking he's that good IMO.

Two stud LBs in this class would be very nice.

So I have spent zero time in this thread, so I decided to start from the beginning and ran into this bad boy. I sure hope the current LB commits meet your wishes Irish Man.

Just went back and watched the video of Hollins again...OMG. I aggree with arrowryan that Hollins and Jaylon tandem would be a true menace to opposing offenses. Fantastic athlete.

Didn't go back and look but that could have been before we had so many linebackers committed.

Think Von Miller..

I wont throw quite that much of an expectation on any young man coming out of high school. Miller is one of the most dominating players in the NFL. I'll just be happy with saying that he has the potential to be seeing significant playing time as a FR. That alone will make me happy.

But dear God, if he has the mere potential of Vonn Miller, I hope he is Irish!

Explosive and ferocious on film. Not sure we can take both him and AQM but after watching both their tapes I would be pretty happy with either.

For comparisons sake out if highschool:

Deon Hollins Jr: 6'1/6'2 225 4.5

Von Miller: 6'2/6'3 210 4.5

Prince Shembo: 6'2 225 4.7
Darius Fleming: 6'2 230 4.6

From before the Opening:

Deon Hollins Jr., WDE/LB, Missouri City (TX) Marshall
In terms of first step edge quickness, there may not be any better in the country on the high school level than UCLA commitment Deon Hollins Jr. The 6-foot-0.5, 220-pound high school defensive end features a blazing first step to go with a terrific 3-4-yard closing burst that is nightmare for high school quarterbacks and offensive tackles. In this setting, Hollins Jr. will play standing up at outside linebacker and this is huge when looking at Hollins future on the next level. His ability to naturally drop in coverage, stay attached and/or react to the ball in the air is the area we are going to be watching closely, as well as his ability to take teaching and apply it to the field in a new position with a fast pace.

Not sure the specifics but I'm fairly confident that was written awhile ago.

I am very impressed with the LB corp this staff has put together. Hollins would be icing on the cake. I love this kids game. I'd take home whether we landed AQM of not.

I don't feel like we have and shot with Vanderdoes at all. My remaining 4 would be:
Folston 95%
Redfield 80%
AQM 60%
Hollins: hard to tell with him being a verbal to UCLA but I feel like if we push for him, he's Irish.

I'd live to see the class close out like this.

I'm well aware on both accounts. I was just saying that it's crazy how much recruiting and expectations change in the matter of a year. Just bringing some laughs to the board. I suppose I'm not very funny. :sigh:

There wasn't a picture here, so yeah. Here y'all go.

The great thing about moms is, even if they aren't big football fans, they sure as hell know who Notre Dame is and what it's all about.
