I dont recall many big games the Irish were favored to win in the last 40 or so years. They have gotten little credit when they did win. This year will be no different. I hope its decisive. I got into a discussion with an idiot the other day. He said no way those northern boys can come down here and play with those southern boys and win. I asked him if he knew where Tuitt and Nix were from. He said "who"? He said the only one they got is that Teo kid and he wouldnt start for Bama or Georgia or LSU. I said yeah you're right. He is from Hawaii anyway. And just ended the conversation.
That is okay, would Trey DePriest start for the Irish this year?
I wish I recalled that. He is from Michigan or Pa. Right?
I wonder if CBS keeps their security cameras focused on him when he's in the building?
This is how it works for ND haters. Even if we had blown out everyone on our schedule they'd spin the argument that it was a weak schedule not to be compared with that of a SEC schedule.
I wouldn't expect anything different. They have the angles they need to create their opinions and so do we.
Because it makes their opinion seem legitimate to themselves, they hang on our 3OT win against PITT, the game after our emotional road victory at OU and the fact that they crushed the only common opponent we have, while we "squeaked" by.
What most fail to acknowledge is that Notre Dame was dealing with growing pains all season long and still managed to come out unscathed.
They don't study our games like we do. They don't see the nature of our defense. The defense we almost solely relied upon while our offense struggled to define itself. A defense that will literally let you trickle down the field with the short pass knowing you have no chance of getting in the end-zone... Knowing that you WILL eventually make the fatal mistake and they WILL take advantage of it... Knowing that when you HAVE to run, you will fail.
We are not "there" yet. We didn't open up the season well oiled like Bama did. ND has been a work in progress and will continue to be up until and through Jan 7th. Bama has been there before, has been winning for a while and knows what they do well. When you watch them against Michigan, you see the same team that played against Georgia. That is why they don't respect us... Because they have yet to see our best and refuse to believe it will be evident on Jan 7th.
We can talk about Golson's progression and talents, Riddick's multi-dimensions, Eifert's reliability and Nix's heart until we're blue in the face, it won't change the haters mindset. They need to see what they think is the impossible and what we know is the inevitable.
This girl is an idiot.....the bias is incredible
Yeh, your right Doug Notre Dame's all hype. Just check back with us on Jan 8th.Cant believe they even let Gottlieb comment on anything ND related
I thought Gottlieb was somewhat accurate with a couple of his points. The one on the left, however...
Was Gottlieb accurate when discussing ND having a softer schedule than SEC team's such as UF, SCAR, and UA? Or when he put down UGA's schedule but they were ranked only a smidgeon below ND, UA, and SCA?
Only the Gators had a tougher schedule than ND according to Sagarin BUT only ND and UF had 2 wins against Top 10 Teams, the other 3 only had one. Also keep in mind UA and UGA both had benefit of a an extra game to boost their toughness ... against an opponent that was not in a scheduled game.
ND also played all their games against Div 1A foes. None of the others did.
UF #14 Sagarin Toughest Schedule
ND #31
UA #34
SCar #35
UGA #39

The apparent difference between LaForce and Gottlieb ended when they both opened their mouths. She's still a pretty face but neither one is a competent sportsjournalist.
