Threads like this should be "Who were the best _______ since Lou Holtz took over?" Maybe then they'd make a little more sense.

Derrick Mayes should definitely be on the list.

Interesting to think of some of the "what it's?"

What if Arnaz Battle played wide receiver for four years, would he have made the list?

To Riddickulous: My Dad would have loved your inclusion of Wayne Millner. He was one of his "associates" at ND [since Dad roomed with Andy Pilney, and Pilney, Millner, and Bill Shakespeare were the stars].

Millner was a stud. Consensus All-American, NFL Hall of Famer. Yet not many have heard of him. Sad, really.

Brown
Ismail
Floyd
Tate
Samardzja

This only takes into account pure receiving ability, not special teams. Otherwise Tate would prolly be ahead of floyd...

Top 5 Tight Ends
Fasano
Carlson
Rudolph
Casper
Eifert (I know its early but this dude is a stud, watched him play in high school and he was dominant on both sides of the football.)

Where's Ken MacAfee? He was a better college TE than all five of these players.

TE listing might even be a harder list than WR. Nobody ever knows how much blocking should count for. I assume Rudolph had the best size/speed/hands combination, fwiw.

Totally agree. I was going to start putting a list together, but then I realized that many of the guys on my list might be unknown to most people on this thread.

Notre Dame did play football well before 2000.

Absolutely agree. He may well be the best ND TE ever, and that's saying something. Three time All American, and finished third in Heismann.
