Who is Likely Next (2013)

Back to the recruits. All that counts is signed letters of intent or enrollment. Early entry recruits not withstanding, each school has to keep records of the number of players on scholarship year round. So what the SEC '28' rule does is give them more play to float numbers to help with their organized grayshirting programs.

The pipleine has a 28 diameter for the SEC where by default it has a 25 diameter for all other schools governed by the NCAA. Remember the SEC still has to follow the 85/25 rule in principle!

The update also said that we are still in touch with L.J. Moore. We'll push for him only if we don't get Redfield, I guess.

I wouldn't be surprised if we pick up LJ even with Max on board (even with Folston and AQM). Our # is still in flux. Not saying we will, it just wouldn't surprise me at all.

Idk I personally doubt it. With a true frosh starting at corner and already 3 more coming in, there's not the direct need right now. That spot could be used to fill other more pressing needs.

Has anyone updated a list of when our remaining targets are announcing? I've tried looking through threads, but can't seem to find anything. All I know is AQM during the Army game...

I believe Redfield is also planning to announce at his AA game now. Folston too. Vanderdoes hasn't said anything about when he'll announce a final decision or anything like that.

Not sure about any other guys but obviously those are the big ones ... if we get those three we might be done except for throwing everything we've got left at Vanderdoes.

EDIT: Ironman beat me

Typically I would agree, but not this year all things considered. If we could pick up a DT or ILB, or even a DE, then yes. I don't think that will happen given what's left on the board. I'm not giving up on Eddie V., but I don't hink it's likely. With LJ, yes we'd be overloading, but I think LJ is more of a true corner than Butler or Kinlaw. Cole and LJ would be a pretty nice pair of true CBs coming in. And, if we are going to overload, I think BK and team would rather overload in this area as DBs are a huge part of special teams. BK is on record this year talking about how injuries, etc. in the DB space has hurt ST. I think Butler ulimately ends up as a S as well. I could actually see both Butler and Kinlaw playing positions other than CB.

I agree with most of this analysis, but I think the bolded bears emphasizing. If we get Redfield, then before we can take L.J. we have to wait till signing day or close to signing day to see if we can pick up a player at a position group of greater need than DB, especially DL. We have a lot of bodies at DB (and WR, for that matter, for anyone who thinks Kinlaw or even Butler might move to offense). I love L.J. but we have to take our best shot at filling a position of greater need, especially DT, before we can take L.J., if taking him would fill us up.

Agreed. I think BK and team will know where we stand with EV before NSD though. I also don't see any ILBs or DEs left that we'd take or have a chance with, so IMO, EV is the last of the studs in play (other than Max, Folston, AQM). With James in play, injuries, etc., I thiink there will be more room in the inn than we think. Either that, or BK and team are hedging their bets due to declining conifidence in one or more of our top targets. Just my opinion, but something is driving increased communication.

Sorry for this rant in advance.

Why recruits buy into Kiffin and especially Ed Orgeron I'll never know.

With Kiffin you have guy who has been unsuccessful at every stop he has been at. From the Raiders to USC (I actually thought his one at Tennessee was his best coaching job but nothing special).

And Ed Orgeron? He has been a great recruiter everywhere he has gone. Why? I have no idea. This the guy that could barely win a game when he was the head coach at Ole Miss.

Love how these guys made all kinds of promises to recruits at Tennessee and then dumped them after one year. Worst off they where telling stud recruits they recruited not to early enroll and to come to USC immediately after they left. If it was me and I left I wouldn't have gone after any of the commits to Tennessee, certainly wouldn't have told them to leave and not early enroll. Low class.

This is what I think of them

I've read a lot about Ed O because of reading Meat Market. He was raised down South with a complete football-first mentality. He was a big time partier all the way until he got fired from Miami due to drunken behavior (he was a stud d-line coach then). Honestly, his d-line history is amazing, and I'm sure he just seems like a good time and a good old Southern boy to recruits. For high schoolers who are thinking NFL over everything, he is probably very appealing.

You lost me with the bold?

He means that, for us to end up with Moore: (1) UCLA will have to screw up majorly (he's a Bruins lock); and (2) ND will have had to whiff on several other prospects first (Moore is a contingency plan for us). In other words, don't count it.

Got the first part, didn't get the "coaching/school" part. And read somewhere, IDK where, that we're stepping up contact again. And didn't we used to be the favorite?

I don't know if we pull anyone beyond that but if we do, expect it to be huge!

I say no. To tell you the truth if we don't lose anyone else and bring in these 3 I would be just fine with that. If could one more guy I would want Eddie Vanderlos.

I'm happy with what we have an consider it a good class. If we were to gather those three Into it then it bumps it to a great class if its not already

Wish I could share your confidence in in us landing this one. Can't help but get that sinking feeling though.

You still shaky about AQM? Come on man... based on what? Seriously, the guy is basically a silent commit waiting to announce at the All-Star game.

Anyone got a list of the early enrollees for 2013?

Is either Redfield or AQM an early enrolle candidate?

Can someone PM me why AQM is so "solid", I mean I know Shumate is here, he goes to a Catholic School we seem to recruit hard but he is yet to visit and seems to be pretty quiet about his recruitment. Im not trying be a dick, maybe Ironman can shed some light, or someone with some reputable insight.
