Diaco NOT Going to BC

That is an interesting list...can't see Franklin leaving Vandy...Riley would fit the conference. Diaco has no head coaching experience...could be tough transition, but it worked for Alvarez...so there is that.

Riley will always be in the shadow of Oregon and this could be his time to step out of it. One 10 win season since 2002. I think he would be better served in Wisconsin but as a Wisconsin fan, I think I would prefer James Franklin out of those 3.

Wisky would really have to throw everything at Riley to get him to leave Oregon St.

Cowherd mentioned an Al Golden rumor. Any scuttlebutt?

“@schadjoe: Wisconsin gauged interest Al Golden according to a source, but he is not entertaining interest from the Badgers or other colleges now.”

“@schadjoe: Multiple programs have reached out to Al Golden, per source, but he is excited about youthful roster and fact UM is already moving forward”

Yeah...I should have used the google machine before asking. Sorry.

I like to see Wisconsin win (prob because of Alvarez). I now hate James Franklin. I would have to root against him at Wisc. if he gets the job.

I really think if Diaco were going to take a job he'd have taken the BC gig... I doubt Wiksy offers him and doubt he takes it.

There is this too

@dave_heller: For those who care about these kind of things, Bob Diaco interviewed for HC job Monday ... at Temple. #badgers

How many in home visits has Diaco been on?

Seems like only one or two. At least not nearly as many as last year it seems.

:(

That worries me. Temple isn't gonna get much better offers. The Eagles D coordinator Todd Bowles also interviewed but he ****ing sucks.

I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Kelly advised Coach Diaco to take head coach interviews to gain experience leading up to, what I presume will be an aggressive hiring environment after next season.

I think if Diaco is in fact interviewing at Temple he wants to be a head coach right now and isn't going to wait for an ideal spot to open. Why interview at Temple when he could have a bigger job in a year or two? I think, unfortunately, he's just ready to get his career moving.

Experience. It never hurts to interview for a job, even if you don't think you want it. It'll help him in the next go-round.
That said, he can do better then Temple if he waits, but probably isn't ready for Wisconsin just yet. Frankly, after BC, I was most worried about Cincy or Pitt.
The good news in the short term is even if he lands either of them, they probably let him coach the bowl game, Temple b/c they don't give a ****, Wisconsin b/c they've got Alvarez to tide things over. The bad news: This is potentially four interviews in two weeks.

If Alvarez doesn't like the candidates this year, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him keep the seat warm until he finds someone he likes.

Heard him on an interview on ESPN radio (forgot which show, possibly SVP) and he was pretty clear that he did NOT want to come back and that he always keeps a list of candidates just in case something like this happens. I highly doubt he'll be coaching next year, but you never know. I just don't see any reason why he wouldn't just say it was a possibility unless it truly wasn't

As soon as one coaching spot is taken up that Diaco was being eyed for another one pops up and the anxiety starts all over again one what will happen...this needs to stop whether Diaco is solid to ND or not....my goodness

Clawson withdrew his name from consideration at Temple, so maybe that's a sign Wisky is very high on him and he is going there?

Common Alvarez being the defensive coordinator for ND was what lauched your career. Do us a solid, and hire Clawson.

Just one more year, all I want is one more year.

SIAP (looked in the coaching change thread and this one and no reference to this)

Not sure how plugged-in Travis Haney is, but he tweeted the following about what he heard Alvarez is looking for in a HC:

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Yes. Heard Alvarez wants sitting HC. MT @<a href="https://twitter.com/realjsals">realjsals</a>: @<a href="https://twitter.com/travhaneyespn">travhaneyespn</a> How in the world do Badgers not go after Norvell? I'm guessing no HC exp.</p>— Travis Haney (@TravHaneyESPN) <a href="https://twitter.com/TravHaneyESPN/status/279328010727989248" data-datetime="2012-12-13T20:52:42+00:00">December 13, 2012</a></blockquote>

If true, Wiscy is one less role that we should be concerned about losing Coach Diaco to.
