I'm somewhat disturbed by the amount of people that think that they can read into a father/son relationship over the internet to the extent that they feel comfortable calling it "controlling". These are real people we're talking about in here.

I agree. We get carried away sometimes on this board.

As for Mr. Hawkins telling 247 that they are not considering ND anymore, is it possible that Kiffin told the Hawkins fam to join in or join out? I've had the impression (GITF or other experts, correct me if I'm wrong) that he is the most likely USC DB commit to get dropped. Maybe Kiffin took a hard line with him, as we apparently are doing with Mattingly, and told him that although the OV was fine, any further visits would be considered a decommitment, and the Hawkinses caved.

Maybe reading into stuff/getting carried away again ...

Possibly. I do think the SC staff gave him a hard line but then again I don't really think there was really that great of a shot to flip him, even after what his dad said. The comment from Redfield that Chris didn't get as much out of it was what tipped it off to me.

I'm simply expressing my opinion which has been formed from reading countless articles and posts. There's other people who have expressed the same thing. I certainly don't know first hand, but when the father is the one doing all the talking........

My nephew plays on the same team as chris hawkins....my nephew tells me hawkins is a 'huge SC-guy' and its one of those things everyone knows he is all USC. I dont have anymore inside info other than that, not saying he wont decommit, but there appears to be no indication from his actions around Rancho campus that he is going anywhere other than SC.

FYI - Rancho Cucamonga lost this last weekend, so Chris Hawkins is done playing HS football for Rancho.

ADDED: Rancho Lost to Vista-Murrieta (Su'a Cravens team) and per my nehpew after the game they (Hawkins and Cravens) were still saying they were going to SC.

Very recent quote from Chris: "I'm not feeling real good about USC right now," said Hawkins. "If my official visit to USC goes well, I doubt I'll visit Oregon. If it doesn't, I may feel the need to take that visit."

1. Not sure Oregon would have room for him, hearing they're getting pretty full.

2. There are a number of theories out there on what the issue is... and one end of the spectrum, there are people saying they're pushing him out to make room for Priest Willis. On the other hand, people are saying he started wavering when USC went in the tank this season.

I'm inclined to believe the former as Hawkins has always been VERY pro-USC and it seems like the misgivings have always been from the USC end of things and there were always rumblings of "not knowing where he stands" throughout the process. It is absolutely insane to watch this class teeter on the brink of being super incredibly awesome and completely falling apart.

It's too bad Rodgers or Bigelow are bought players or they'd totally end up at Alabama or some other SEC school.

He's giving mixed signals big-time. On one hand he's professing his love to USC, on the other hand someone in his camp is telling other reporters that he is NOT happy with what is going on at USC (or maybe his dad is the one not happy??? - He's the one who talks to reporters) and that he may take trips. ISD reported that they weren't happy with USC after the ND game, but then at the same time that weekend, he actually had 5 star USC commit Jalen Ramsey (from TN) at his house all weekend as Ramsey visited USC for the ND game, and Ramsey was saying afterwards how much he loved it and how he (Ramsey) is all-SC still.

Soooooo, mixed signals. Another example...he's tripping to OK, but then last night he posted on Rivals (after someone said he was leaving USC b/c he was scared of the depth chart) something to the effect that the depth chart meant nothing to him and that 'you guys will see come Jan. 10th' (his first day of classes at USC as an EE, I assume). So who knows what's going on!
