You first. Maybe you like 3-9 or 6-6 teams? I dont. If ND is going to play with the big boys, they need big boy talent and keep getting big boy talent. I would think you would know that.

Im not saying ND isnt a step above the other universities in integrity. But integrity doesnt win games year after year, talent does. If we are talking about academics and such, Im all for it. If you are talking about football wins, you need more 4/5 stars and less 3 stars.

Tyler Eifert was a three star TE recruit. Now he is one of the best TE's in the country. Just saying, stars are not the end all be all.

Also, ND has been recruiting very well in the right positions since Kelly has arrived. There are some big, athletic guys on this team. This isn't some community college. It will keep coming, and Kelly seems to be good at developing the players as well. Get used to ND competing with the "Big Boys".

And I will LOVE it. Believe me, being in first LSU tiger country and now Tide country as a die hard ND fan is tough. Especially when ND is everyone's punching bag. Now that we can have some pride football wise, I want to see it continue. But I also know Alabama and LSU didnt build their dominance with 3 star recruits.

Im not saying a 3 star cant be great and that a 5 star is automatically awesome. I just saying it helps.

Sorry, I was being intentionally standoffish. I thought you were a Bama fan that had come to belittle and harrass us.Go ND!

It tends to help.

How so? Does a ranking score points for us? Make tackles?

If you are saying a highly rated recruit helps us win then yeah that's possible/likely but his ranking alone does nothing.

I would bet every vbuck I have that Notre Dame has won more games before rankings than they have after.

I think we should respect both the coaches at Notre Dame and Danny Mattingly. No one on this board has stated precisely what has happened. Kelly has not criticized any recruit. We should be couretous and respectful and thoughtful when we criticize any recruit.

What strikes me is the closeness of the recruits in this class. My feeling - the coaches are being honest and consistent with what they are telling each recruit and what they will do when the recruit come to Notre Dame and the recruits know this. The coaches seems to me are not telling the recruits what they want to hear but what they actually believe. This will result in some recruits deciding not to come to Notre Dame. But, the recruits who come here will know they have been treated fairly and told the truth.

I have absolutely no knowledge on this situation. Could it be that Danny Mattingly wants to play a certain position and some coaches have told him you will play that position and the coaches at Notre Dame have told him you will play where you can best help the team and we will not promise you that you will play a certain position?

Troll post of the year. :talktohan Time here is limited.

Hear that sound in the distance? That is the sound of the bloodhounds that are on your trail!

Okay, okay, since we cannot do the secret ND fan handshake (online limitations), how do ND fans always greet each other?

He's not allowed to.

I think it was a matter of the guy seeing the studs coming in and wondering if he would ever get to see the field...which is a very valid concern for him looking at the studs ND have coming in. No one wants to ride the pine and honestly, at the schools hes looking at, he would have a much better chance to play.

Good Luck to the young man!!! Would loved to have had him stay committed, but he's doing what he feels he must do for himself.

Sad to see him go, but it won't break the class. Good luck Danny! Hope you find a good fit (and not on a team we play).
