Teams regularly replace 2 starters on the OL without missing a beat. Once you start replacing 3 or more though, your offense is almost assured to take a significant step back. Z. Mart's return would have a big impact on our offensive ceiling in 2013.

Epitome started this thread. Perhaps we can ask him if he'd like to prognosticate on wether Martin returns?

I think watt and martin come back, its a big deal btween being drafted in the second round versus 6th financially. Nix might be kinda interesting, not sure where he would be drafted. I think if all come back could all be at least 2nd rounders next year. Cierre could be a Heisman candidate if featured heavily no doubt about it.

Other then QB, would you argue that replacing veteran OL with younger, inexperienced OL are more dangerous to the success of your team then any other position?

The QB is obviously the most important individual on any team, but the DL and OL are undoubtedly the most important units. The OL, especially, is sensitive to chemistry and teamwork. So even if you're replacing multiple starters with very talented kids, your offense is still likely to take some significant steps back. Trying not to lose more than 2 OL starters per year is crucial to sustained offensive success.

Having those two back is key to next year. We have capable back ups but there is nothing like experience (especially when that experience is very talented). Our lack of depth could really hurt us if a couple of injuries pop up. Returning Golson, DD, TJ, Cbreezy, Atkinson, Amir, and Neal (and probably other I forgot- im in a hurry) is great for our offense, but it doesn't mean anything if our O-Line has hole.

If these guys come back I think we should be a top 5 team next year as well. Emphasis on should, who knows what happens.

Wow! That would be awesome if he decides to stick around another year. All of our incoming freshman would get a chance to watch and learn from a real stud and also it would allow some of those guys to fill out without having to be pressed into action. I hope Zach decides that South Bend is where he wants to be for another year.

Pretty sure I saw him on that last possession too. Didn't see him moving around to tell how healthy he was but he was on the field so that's a good sign.

Also loved to see Manti and KLM come to help him off.

In the postgame lockerroom celebration he was right near the front bouncing around with a giant smile on his face.

Thank the Lord.

Please come back another season Zach.
