Yea I don't know why I still follow Prestwood but he is always joking with the players and seems like he really wishes he was a part of this team. When I saw that tweet I just immediately thought he might be injured but you could very well be right Whiskey.

I'd love to get Prestwood back at some point. Would really help our OL depth with the likely loss of Nichols. Have our insiders heard anything about his prospects for return? Lots of other ND players have taken a semester or two off to get their grades in order, only to return after.

Carrico asked him recently when he was going to come visit and hang out and he responded saying he has been really busy visiting other schools. Definitely doesn't sound like he will be coming back. At least not next year.

I don't have great "sources" but I have heard stories of academic difficulties that would leave me to believe a comeback would be impossible.

Irish Illustrated ‏@NDatRivals

Reserve center Matt Hegarty "shut down" until further testing can be done, according to Brian Kelly.
Irish Illustrated ‏@NDatRivals

Brian Kelly said Matt Hegarty's injury was not suffered during a football practice. Return during the regular season doubtful.

#NotreDame reserve C Matt Hegarty had a non-football related medical issue that will likely keep him out for the rest of the regular season.

Damn. That really hurts. Matt could really play a big role next year. Hopefully he is able to be okay to go next year/ in the offseason. It is vital Cave stays healthy now.

i'm not sure if he was the backup anyway with golic...depended on if the staff though he or nick martin was better....hopefully he recovers quickly!

How bad is this? If this is career ending our situation at center just got a little scary.

Wouldn't worry yet. The list of non-football-related medical conditions that could knock one out for the next two weeks without threatening one's career is quite long.

Don't like this. Hegarty was definitely the Cave back-up and even took snaps in some practices and games at replacement times. An O-Line coach doesn't want multiple person juggling unless really forced to do so [Golic to center for example weakens two positions, and general coordination].

I realize that we don't know anything, but we really need Matt next year. He is not the muscleman that Braxton is; nobody is; but he is much more mobile and will/ would have been plenty strong enough next year. According to what I heard his only issue really was getting the snap right all the time.

Without Matt, Mark Harrell, who HAS been practicing at center, would have to be muscled-up enough to hold down the middle of the line. Mark's a good athlete, but I doubt he's ready to anchor this line. As I say, I don't like this. We are going to have to work hard to get the O-Line up for a title run [assuming no Cave nor ZMart] as it is. REALLY want Matt to be alright.

BK said he had a small medical procedure and has undergone some tests. Can't get into much else besides that info for privacy laws.

He just needs to find bigger girls. He could just take a ride over to Purdue.

Hey but in all seriousness, I sincerely hope my New MexiCAN gets better.

I've been pulling for this kid since Highschool.

Hopefully it's not a broken heart, we already lost a great lineman to that.

In all seriousness, hopefully it's minor. Need this guy.

Supposedly it's a pretty big deal, but I haven't been given any specifics.
