Anybody think Golson gets a Helmet Sticker on College Football Final?

Golson. He was probably the biggest question mark coming into the game, but he played mistake-free and made big play after big play when he needed to in an extremely tough environment. EG took a HUGE step forward in his development tonight.

Really hard to vote for this one. I like Kelly taking the game ball, because the offense performed better than they have at home and in the previous two games, and in a hostile environment. On top of that the defense performed well as always.

Game ball could go so many different ways, I ended up voting Golson because he had the most to overcome I think and made very few mistakes as a redshirt freshman. Certainly no big mistakes on his end. Golson also came back on the field after that big hit to finish the game. Yeah, I give it to him.

Golson. No turnovers, tons of clutch plays at key moments of the game in a super hostile environment.

^

We knew coming into the game what Te'o, the OL and DL were capable of. I wasn't sure Golson was capable of playing mistake-free football in the most hostile environment imaginable and under the brightest of spot lights.

He's been a machine in big road games for us this year. As a true freshman. When you're biggest concern is that a 5:s: QB on ND's bench might end up transferring because your starter is such a boss, you know the Irish are looking good.

I think this was Kelly's best called game while being here. I don't think I didn't like one of his calls, that never happens.

Again, great team win and everyone had their parts. Props to Tommy, Chris Brown, and the Secondary. Although I think I would give this Golson with all the question marks about when he is going to grow up. I think he did tonight a lot and now with the next three opponents he will grow a lot more and learn the playook a bit more (he should already know it). Look forward to watching him for the next three years. Gunner should have went to LSU....sorry bud...

Coaching staff should get game ball!
1 penalty for 5 yards, 0 turnovers, and held them to 15 yards rushing, the play calling was great.

How about the play calling?

Golson grew up and what not. Sure. But he was set up well and generally when nobody is griping about play calling.... that means it was pretty darn good.

My favorite was when OU fans were getting excited and the sooner offense finally had some momentum... then the play of the game (even better than Manti's grab) had to be this one:

I voted Manti because I believe the defense won this game. Nothing against the offense (especially the O-line) and Golson, but the defense did what every sportscaster and person on this forum said they needed to do - stuff the run, keep the wide receivers honest, and force 3rd and longs..... they did. And the leader of that group led the way as usual.

You are not wrong.... But Golson stepped it up. Manti made the big play like he always does and the secondary did its job. Sure.

Look at the way the offense moved the ball, especially in the second half. The 50 yard bomb to Brown. The first down conversions. The huge turnaround in Time of Possession in the second half. Running the ball and draining clock when they needed to. Golson didn't make me yell at the TV to warm up the bullpen. For the first time this season, we have a stellar looking QB from start to finish. Ohh yeah, 0 turnovers too.

EG was awesome. To think he has 3 more years of eligibility after potentially winning a national championship makes me so happy

I told everyone who would listen that our front 7 on offense was too big for their front 7 on defense.. I knew the would throw people around.

Golson played a terrific game, the stats dont tell the story....

he made plays when they were there (he missed some, but clearly he is getting better)
he threw the ball away when the play wasnt there
he ran out of bounds, rather than trying to pick up 3 extra yards on runs
he got 'popped in the mouth', got up, and lead this team in the 4th qtr

I cant wait to see what he does against PITT

I have to give two: Everett --- grew up as a man this night; and, yeh I know, I'm a broken record, but BIG LOU --- Oklahoma was stuffed almost all game by him. And you know, that might be on a certain center's mind when he fires back some devastating snaps without being fully conscious of exactly what else is going on. At least three cheers for the Big Man.
