To all the Sooner fans over here welcome! Talk all the smack you want! I enjoy it! I have a lot of respect for your program and like coach Kelly said, that is where we want to be! Your home record is very impressive as well. I just hope that against us this Saturday it continues to be non-existent! Good day and God Bless!

I don't particularly care for Oklahoma's football team, and I hope to see them on the losing end on Saturday.

That is my only opinion on this matter.

Go Irish, Beat Sooners.

To those of you who seem to care so much I am a 34 yo african american female who works in the financial sector and my 6th grade english teacher Mrs. Johnston gave me the nickname Black Dynamite since i was always talking out loud in class and being disruptive. She too was african american and she had a major impact on my life and taught me to always do what was right and she changed how i acted but the nickname stuck. My husband family friends all call me that but ever since that ridiculous movie came out several years ago i have taken nothing but grief about it. Now please stop harrassing me ok?

Who is harassing you? Seriously calm down. And your teacher was right, you are very disruptive. People are arguing football on a football message board and you walk in with your holier than thou morality rant and start trying to confront everyone.

Not to be a dick but did you just join to teach the posters here a lesson in respect or did you plan on joining a discussion about the upcoming game? Trolls from other teams aren't welcome here; however, quality posters who are considerate to the members of this board and respectfully post about their team are more than welcome. Now, that doesn't mean that every encounter on here will be a positive one; some people just like to be *******s. But let's be honest... you couldn't possibly have thought that joining a forum filled with rabid ND/CFB fans who constantly deal with new trolls was a good idea, right? The Sooner fans, and fans of any opposing team, don't usually join the forum in order to make new friends. They usually have intentions of trolling/riling up the fan base. You searched for and found our board... now please decide what your intentions are.

Howdy y'all, just wanted to pop in and see what you all thought about the game this weekend. I can barely sleep!! This could be one for the ages, I certainly hope so, and whatever the outcome, we wish all of you coming to the game safety in travel. You will be treated well in Norman, we truly appreciate the fans of opposing teams, we know it's not easy or cheap to show up in person, you do it because you love your team, and that's something we know a bit about.

Anyway, this was on the Sooner official website the other day, and I thought I'd share it here. Remarkable doesn't seem adequate when you describe the history of these two teams, and to have them meet in the middle of the season, with top 10 (dang KSU!!!) rankings...it's special. It would be hard to come up with another game this season that could compete with this marquee, and I literally cannot wait!!!! Here's to a well-officiated, injury-free game, good luck to all.

Notre Dame (.733) and Oklahoma (.718) rank second and third in all-time college football winning percentage.

Oklahoma (27.13) and Notre Dame (25.21) rank first and second in all-time points per game scored in college football.

Oklahoma and Notre Dame are tied for first in college football history with 31 unanimous All-Americans each.

Oklahoma (101) and Notre Dame (95) are first and second in weeks ranked number one in the Associated Press poll.

Notre Dame (61) and Oklahoma (42) rank second and fourth in all-time first-round NFL Draft selections.

The Fighting Irish (12.53) and Sooners (12.75) are fifth and sixth in all-time points allowed per game.

Amazing. BOOMER!!!!!!

p.s. Yes, we're still pissed about The Streak. But we'll still share our beer. :D

I haven't read this entire thread but out of curiosity, how is OU's O-line? I fear that our secondary could be exposed if we're unable to get considerable pressure on Jones.

Question for OU posters: How has OU's rebuilt offensive line performed thus far? Did their continuing development contribute to a slow start? Have they had to play against any elite defensive fronts this year that have NFL (draft-able) talent?

Thank in advance for responses
The OU OL is a salty group but isn't filled with future pro bowlers. They aren't as tall or big as we are used to. I'm not an expert at evaluating OL talent or blocking schemes (doesn't really interest me to watch the OL) but I can give you a general breakdown of our starters.

Gabe Ikard, Center
Redshirt Junior, 6-3 288, converted TE--kind of small for a center but strong and smart. Started at LG in 2010 and became a Freshman All American. In 2011, he started at LG but moved to center due to injuries. Became a 1st Team All Big 12. This kid is extremely book and football smart and is one of Stoops's favorite players on the team. Also a captain on the team. No depth here if he is injured.

Adam Shead, Left Guard
Redshirt Sophomore, 6-4 307, started 5 games at LG last year. Starting to come into his own.

Bronson Irwin, Right Guard
Junior, 6-5 307, first year starter.

Lane Johnson, Left Tackle
Redshirt Senior, 6-7 303, converted TE to DE (2010) then started 12 games at RT in 2011. Is pretty skinny for a LT.

Daryl Williams, Right Tackle
Redshirt Sophomore, 6-6 299, saw action last year and started one game. Has the most upside of any of our OL but I don't know if he "gets" it yet. Also needs to probably put on some weight.

"Patchwork" might be stretching it at this point in the season. They have been playing together since the season began. Depth is where this group really is lacking. Our WRs and RBs are great blockers. I think OC Josh Heupel has schemed to limit the impact of the OL on the game. I'd be willing to bet your tremendous DL will get to Landry a few times. I don't think he'll be running for his life the whole game like he was against UTEP (this line's first game together).

As far as opposing defenses, we've played against Texas's DL which was supposed to be all-world. Jackson Jeffcoat (probably a 1st round pick type of talent) did not get his hands on Landry once (IIRC). Alex Okafor (Big 12 Preseason Defensive Player of the Year) was also a non-factor. KSU has a good DL but IMO it was their secondary that forced Landry Jones into coverage sacks. Landry couldn't find anyone open, was rushed out of the pocket, and took a huge sack or fumbled numerous times.

My question is, how good is OU's D? Any Sooner fans want to give a breakdown by run and pass D? I think our ceiling on a perfect day in Norman is about 40, like we scored against Miami, so if OU hits the mid 30's or above I think they win.

Best defense we've had in Norman in a long time (at least 2009, but probably better than that group overall). They might not have the strength and size on the DL like we're used to, but as a unit, they are effective.

We have allowed yardage but have not been allowing points like we have in the past. We had trouble with Klein and the system used by K State. K State's offense is deadly because Klein is actually a very good passer as well as runner. In the fourth quarter Klein threw for 72 yards on 4-of-5 passing. At that point our defense was gassed due to offensive turnovers (thank you, Landry Jones). You can't blame the K State loss on the Oklahoma defense, they held them in check for most of the game-- 3 points in the first 3 quarters of the game.
1st qtr
1st drive: 6 plays 39 yards, 03:09 KANSASST PUNT
2nd drive: 7 plays 28 yards, 04:19 KANSASST PUNT

2nd qtr
3rd drive: 3 plays 6 yards, 01:42 KANSASST PUNT
4th drive (after Blake Bell fumble from goal line): 13 plays 88 yards, 06:59 KANSASST FG

3rd qtr
5th drive: 7 plays 15 yards, 04:26 KANSASST PUNT
6th drive: 5 plays 24 yards, 01:52 KANSASST PUNT

4th qtr
7th drive (after Jones INT at the OU 38): 7 plays 38 yards, 03:04 KANSASST TD
8th drive: 8 plays 77 yards, 04:32 KANSASST TD
9th drive: running down the clock, KSU able to get two first downs to end the game. Our defense couldn't stop them when they absolutely had to.

So just looking at the bolded parts, you can see that our defense was getting tired. Time of possession favored KSU by nearly 10 minutes (34:47 to 25:13). Overall, the defense played well enough to win against a very good KSU offense.

As for our other opponents...we totally shut down Texas's one dimensional rushing attack.

Scout is thinking like I am... that there are a number of ways OU can win and a very strict formula for an Irish win, but they like ND to execute that plan...

Scout.com: CFN Notre Dame vs. Oklahoma Preview

I guarantee like Wooly has been saying and it makes perfect sense, that if ND can play their style of football we win. And thats by eating up clock, limiting their possesions and just by circumstance of having 9 or 10 possesions they wont be able to score much. GO IRISH!!!!

I wonder how many mods will call in sick Saturday?

I can't believe you guys get on this board during a game. I must be too intense during a game, because it gets my undivided attention, then it's off to the bathroom during the commercials.

I really think the key to this game is can ND handle our spread, hurry up offense. Have they ever faced one like that ? We'll see. Boomer Sooner.
