'12 SC WR Chris Brown (Notre Dame Man)

I've been hearing this all season, yet no one has exploited them yet. First it was going to be Purdue's balance offense to do it, they didn't, MSU was going to do it with their balance offense, they didn't, we were going to be so focused on Denard that we would have man to man coverage and Mich would exploit it and make big plays on us, THEY Didn’t. Miami set a new ACC record for passing yards last week, they’re going to exploit this young defense, and AGAIN THEY DIDN'T. Like Lou said Saturday night, there's no reason to cover and waste your energy on the WR if you know they’re not going to catch it. Now obviously that was a joke, but still, they didn't catch it and we didn't get hurt, and until then our DB's have yet been beat deep, have yet to be exploited.

Navy - a nonexistent passing game

Purdue - Marve went 11/19 for 118 yards and a touchdown. He didn't look bad at all.

Michigan State - Horrible passing game.

Michigan - Denard actually hit a lot of open guys and Michigan did move the ball. Of course, he's also a terrible quarterback and threw a slew of interceptions.

Miami - Morris played well, his receivers were pathetic. The Irish dodged three bullets (on two separate drives) against Miami.

Notre Dame has not faced a team that can run and pass. Stanford doesn't even quite fit that mold. I've said it the whole season: if the DBs perform well against Oklahoma (weak OL though, thank God) and USC, then I'll say they're in great shape. We said before the season that we lucked out in not facing dynamic passing attacks just yet.

Still though, one has to give credit. They have played remarkably well so far.

But if you're not terrified of Woods, Lee, and Redd can do with Barkley throwing the ball then you're crazy haha They don't drop balls.

this really is about it as far as elite speed left on the schedule.

i give a lot of credit to scheme and playmaking ability for our secondary. we've adjusted well. if nothing else--we're re-routing the WR's and tackling better as a unit.

Has anyone noticed if Chris is getting any burn lately? Either I have missed him or he hasn't seen the field much. I think I remember Coach Kelly saying he needed to work on his blocking. So it seems the better blockers are out there, like Daniel Smith, to help the run game.
I sure would like to see a few go over the top to Chris to help out the run game.

Let alone Chris getting deep isn't the problem. #11 playing QB is. No bash on Rees he just can't throw the deep ball. Can't remember a deep ball he has thrown where i was like WOW. Golson I look back on that pass to Eifert and go WOW.

Great game for a guy like Brown and Neal to get burn.

Unless it's Kelly's trick up the sleeve, I don't see it happening. There have been oppurtunities in less pressured situations and he hasn't. But as a fan, I'd love to see CB deep and Davonte on the screen.

How about an end around to Chris to get his feet wet?

Anything. I'd like to see him get some reps at least. I know he was in on a few plays with a designed deep ball and there wasn't a connection made. I would imagine that he'd be in if we were playing with a lead much lately.

If we get the ball first/after a quick OU series & punt I expect Kelly to take a shot down field and try being on the offensive like the MSU game, Chris would be a fantastic option (though they might be expecting such)

But they would not expect Neal to come underneath for a quick dump off!!!

(The excitement I got from that thought scares me for the future)

No, no, no. This play should be stricken from all playbooks. It hardly ever works. As a Bears fan, I see this fail a dozen times a game with Hester taking the end around for -2 yards. Kill it. Kill it with fire.

I think CB will, in time be a crucial and extremely productive part of our WR corp, but for now, he needs to keep working on his blocking and his time will come. Toma, TJ, Daniels, Eifert and Smith are doing a great job. Everett just needs to make better progression reads to find the open man.

You knew it had to happen at one point, seems like everytime they ran that play CB was open, just couldn't connect. Thank God it finally did :)

Love his composure after the catch...just found the official and flipped him the ball. Young Mr. Stills should take note. That was the first of many more to come, congrats Chris.

Perfect throw.

What a throw. Stepping up into the pocket, delivering an absolute clutch strike.

Actually had the opportunity earlier but turned off the burners too early to hold the corner on his hip but made the play when it really counted.

Super pumped for a guy wearing my favorite number and my favorite freshman.
