I've been hearing this all season, yet no one has exploited them yet. First it was going to be Purdue's balance offense to do it, they didn't, MSU was going to do it with their balance offense, they didn't, we were going to be so focused on Denard that we would have man to man coverage and Mich would exploit it and make big plays on us, THEY Didn’t. Miami set a new ACC record for passing yards last week, they’re going to exploit this young defense, and AGAIN THEY DIDN'T. Like Lou said Saturday night, there's no reason to cover and waste your energy on the WR if you know they’re not going to catch it. Now obviously that was a joke, but still, they didn't catch it and we didn't get hurt, and until then our DB's have yet been beat deep, have yet to be exploited.
Navy - a nonexistent passing game
Purdue - Marve went 11/19 for 118 yards and a touchdown. He didn't look bad at all.
Michigan State - Horrible passing game.
Michigan - Denard actually hit a lot of open guys and Michigan did move the ball. Of course, he's also a terrible quarterback and threw a slew of interceptions.
Miami - Morris played well, his receivers were pathetic. The Irish dodged three bullets (on two separate drives) against Miami.
Notre Dame has not faced a team that can run and pass. Stanford doesn't even quite fit that mold. I've said it the whole season: if the DBs perform well against Oklahoma (weak OL though, thank God) and USC, then I'll say they're in great shape. We said before the season that we lucked out in not facing dynamic passing attacks just yet.
Still though, one has to give credit. They have played remarkably well so far.
But if you're not terrified of Woods, Lee, and Redd can do with Barkley throwing the ball then you're crazy haha They don't drop balls.
