Ought to be a heck of a game.

Ought to be a heck of a game.

Hello Irish fans. Thanks for allowing me to come on board here and talk football. When I was 10 yrs old, my dad took my twin brother and I, to our very first OU football game. It was 1966, and we played ND. Both of us were in awe at the size of the stadium, the crowd, the sea of crimson and cream colors. But besides that, we were playing ND. How cool was that? The first time I saw the movie "Rudy" it brought back sooo many memories of that day, that my dad took us to that game. If some of you don't remember, LOL, ND beat us 38-0 !! 38-0 ! My dad was just sick that the first OU game he took his sons to, our beloved Oklahoma Sooners got beat 38-0. Did I mention the score 38-0 ???

Anyway, the Sooner faithful is looking forward to this game. We are starting to jell as team. When we played UTEP, our first game of the season, we looked like a HS team. When we played K-State, (that are really good) we looked like a JUCO team but coming around. By the Texas Tech game, you could see it coming together, especially when we made Texass our step child. Anyway, our football traditions should be the "centerpiece" of college football this Saturday, and hopefully it will be entertaining and injury free for both teams. Boomer Sooner and here's to a great time and game !

Also, I hope we pull out all of the stops this week. Let's see more Neal and CBreezy. If there is anything that Kelly was holding close to his vest, then this is the week to open it up.

Yup. I suppose a side benefit of throwing the ball only 15-20 times a game this season is that the offense has probably practiced numerous things which have not made it to the field this year.

I was at the OU/Texas Tech game a few years back when Tech came in undefeated and OU blew their doors off. The atmosphere would scare me if I didn't have so much faith in Kelly, Manti, and guys like Zeke. If Everett can keep his composure and the D can rattle Landry Jones, the Irish have a chance. The think I love about this team is they aren't based on a gimmicky offense that has to light it up for them to win, great defenses are usually consistent. I think the key to the game is how we start, gotta come out and at least hold steady, if not make a big play and jump up on them. Big stage, this is why you go to Notre Dame, or OU for that matter.

Expect the crowd for this game to be similar. After laying an egg against KSU, the fanbase is DESPERATE for a statement win to get back in the conversation.

Plus, come on, we're in Oklahoma. The Thunder are still in preseason, and natural gas prices are low. WE DON'T HAVE A LOT ELSE GOING ON. I'm not going to lie - we've been talking about this game for months. And now that both teams look good, the excitement level is already well on its way to a fever pitch. I expect the best crowd since 2008 TTU.

My buddy and his wife are going up for the game (she's an OU grad)...and I might join them just to hit up the tailgating.

I expect that to be an awesome atmosphere

I wonder when Golson was given the ok to start preparing for OU? I know that he was a "game time decision", but I don't think we are foolish enough to believe that. Kelly had at least a couple days of knowing that Golson wasn't going to play, imo.

In which case, I hope he gave Golson the green light to start watching OU tape and preparing himself for this week.

Also, I hope we pull out all of the stops this week. Let's see more Neal and CBreezy. If there is anything that Kelly was holding close to his vest, then this is the week to open it up.

How about a hook and ladder and a statue of liberty? I feel like those worked against Stoops in the past....

Please don't. We're a sensitive group.

I stayed in Oklahoma for 3 months while training for work.. It was about every other night I'd be woken up with the walls shaking and thunder crashing.. The weather is out of control. Damn good bars though! Bricktown was always a blast and Sooner/Cowboy fans were cool as hell to drink with. I was all ND, all the time and they were awaysl respectful.

Glad to hear you had a good time. I honestly think the ND fans will be welcomed in Norman this weekend...but you never know. We're generally pretty friendly.

And yeah, sorry about the weather. It can get a little ridiculous at times. But as they say, "If you don't like the Oklahoma weather, wait a minute."

This game is going to be nuts. Golson can't be distracted for a single play. It will require complete perfection from everyone to win and I am looking forward to seeing it happen.

Stop Bell in short yardage situations, get the offense the ball, let Wood/Riddick/Atkinson try to pound away. Open things up a bit, and let Golson off the leash throwing the football later. I think CBreezy catches his first long one of the year, and gives the team a spark late. ND 27, OU 24

If you stop the Belldozer more than once, you'll definitely suck some momentum out of our side.

Notre Dame has over 300 yds rushing. Golson gets around 100 himself. Their front seven will be sucking wind all fourth qtr. the only way we dont win is if we fall behind early due to turnovers. If we take care of the ball we win.

I appreciate your optimism, but I feel that's a tad much.

OUMallen, what is the health of OU like right now. I know you just got Saunders (?) back. Any notable players out or banged up this week? Any notable players who have been out or hurt who are now healthy?

I don't have a prediction for who wins or what the score will be but I do think Shumate is going to have a break out game.

no one else is hurt seriously and we got the ok from the NCAA to play Jalen Saunders before the Texas game after his transfer from Fresno state.
