I'm not trying to sound like a d*ck when I say this, but why would anyone feel like we have a good chance (or anymore of a shot than any other school getting an OV) at this kid? Some are suggesting we are in great shape. I didn't get that vibe at all. I mean, he even goes so far as to say his relationship with Alford isn't like what the other recruits have. Not for nothing, but unless this kid gives his verbal this w/e, I hope the coaches are on the phone with Clement on Sunday night.

yeah he had a verbal offer from them at some point in time but he cant commit to either school. A ton of kids get non committable verbal offers. Florida does not want Folston. FSU is not pushing for Folston at this time. Does not make him any less of a player.

I agree, he did not sound interested. Talking about how he didn't care about the other commitments being there, didn't have a great relationship with Alford (strange), etc.

Fine with me. Dont need another rb (as long as james is solid). Rather use one of the last scholarships elsewhere. Clement>folston imho

I have seen a few interviews from him I think its just his mentality and personality when dealing with colleges in general.

That's the point though. Maybe this is "just the way he is." I just don't get why anyone feels like we have a great shot at him based on that. Of course, it's possible that certain insiders are privy to info we are not, thus the optimism. I don't know...

Part of it is that the other schools Folston was interested in are now full at RB. It's come down to us and USF kind of by default. He certainly didn't sound interested in that article, but that must just be how he comes across in the media. The coaches seem to think he is interested. I assume he was just playing it cool for the reporter.

I think he was just trying to make it very clear with the reporter that he would be making this decision on his own with no influence of others. At least that is how I took it.

I think our current commits do a good job of not pressuring others just informing them of why they made their decision and trying to make the uncommitted feel like part of the group.

I'll buy that. Obviously the coaches would know better than anyone and if they aren't willing to accept Clement's commitment at this time, the clearly they think we have a shot. Good thoughts, boys. This is why I love this site.

1.i completely agree with this
2.this is not what he said or implied..."I haven't really built the type of relationship that people build once they start going to that school," Folston said of his relationship with Alford. "We've just been talking on a recruiter-player level." he doesn't need to be a "dad" to everyone..not everyone needs the emotional support of a relationship and he seems to be very mature about how he is handling this

I agree, he did not sound interested. Talking about how he didn't care about the other commitments being there, didn't have a great relationship with Alford (strange), etc.
1. he just doesn't sound like he is very outgoing, flashy and impressionable
2. he didn't state he didn't care about them being there...in fact it was said
Folston said he's looking forward to meeting the other recruits, but doesn't think they will factor into his decision much.
how is that not good...do you want someone to come just because of other recruits??? you want him to feel comfortable w/ the school.program/coaches and recruits..."They're pretty good guys but still nobody is going to make a decision for me," Folston said. "I'm going to make this decision on my own. I'm not going to let anybody just boost me up."

3. he does have a relationship w/ alford...it's maybe not on terms of what lynch needed but not EVERYONE needs that support...HOWEVER it was alford who convinced him to come...if he didn't have a good relationship...do you think he would come...here is the exact quote "coach Tony Alford helped convince Folston to make the trip

Like Emcee77 said many schools that he liked are full at RB or are waiting to see what other RB prospects are going to do. He likes ND enough to give them an official visit.

I didn't pick anything negative out of that article. I think some may be trying to read too much into what he didn't say.

Did you pick anything encouraging? That's my point- lack of positive sign(s), not negativity.

Lol great point. We shouldn't overlook the significance of the fact that he is visiting.

If he were visiting last weekend or for the Michigan game, I might be wondering whether he just wants to see a marquee, primetime football game in a fun atmosphere with a lot of other visitors. But he is coming from all the way from Florida to see ND/BYU ... not quite the same thing. You don't make that trip if you don't have serious interest.

I just took this to be a very level headed decision to be made and he's not going to let emotions get involved. I know that's not the norm for most 18 year old kids, but maybe that's why some are reading more into it than they should.

As Emcee said, he's visiting so that's a positive.

Just walked by Folston and gave him my recruiting pitch in front of Alford. They both laughed pretty hard seemed like he was having a good time

What was your pitch? Did you say you were taller than Diaco?

Did you tell him that you were the guy with the game day sign last week. I'm sure that would've impressed him. LOL

Did he ask for your celebrity autograph or a pic with the GameDay Sign of The Week?
