I'm not trying to bust on you, Pat. I actually like you, but that is neither here nor there.

My point was that you don't care about being "insensitive" to other people's beliefs or disrespecting them, but you draw the line at the meanies that correct grammar as a joke? If I had to call one of those "douchey" it would certainly be the offensive comments, especially when they are outside of actual political threads.

Uhhh...yeah?

I guess I'm just more passionate about those topics, which brings out the worst in me.

ehh...the cross I have to BEAR.

I wonder how this would work in Alabama. I guess it would just be a puzzle that hasn't been put together since they can't read and just look at the pictures!

Well Big, you know what they say in Alabama every time one of those Top 50 state ranking lists come out and Alabama's #49?

"Thank God for Mississippi!"

I caught dshans in a mixed metaphor once, it made me feel smart. I enjoy his work and the playful banter. He would be banned on an SEC board and conversely should be embraced on a Notre Dame board.

Actually "was " is correct. The subject of the verb "was" is "idea" not the content of the modifying phrase.
Sorry to troll.

I'm not sure that's right. "I had no idea that grammar and proper English was dumb" contains two independent clauses, in the first of which "idea" is the object and in the second of which "grammar and proper English" are the subjects requiring "were" rather than "was." The idea isn't dumb, his assertion is that grammar and proper English are dumb.

By way of another example, "I had no idea that they was together" is clearly wrong. It ought to be "were."

Please troll me if I'm wrong.

Great thread. Would read again. I happen to enjoy Wooly, Dshans and GBDomer's contributions to the site. I also like it when a "fight" breaks out between good posters on here, usually leads to good discussion. Well done Phammer and the rest in this thread.

People in Alabama can read just fine. They just have differnet words. For example:

yownta - meaning "do you want to?"

yerd - meaning "did you hear me?"

Clemson - meaning "every dirt road in the south ends here"

howyadurn - meaning " how are you doing?"

Can't blame them. Its like a dialect. This is how language evolves. like Frnech, Spanish and Italian evolved from Latin, and how english has evolved from germanic languages influneced by the Romance languages and evolved into British, United states, Australian, and South African english. ( psst...I puprosefully mispelled some words to reinforce my point)

Actually, there is a potential Kate Upton digression in the works.

I am tired of Kate Upton. No one comes close to Stacy Williams...

Fight..... begin!

Wait should I take this to the Chris Hawkins thread?

Oh you are missing out on a lot of fantasy. You should check her out now... MILF! MILF! MILF!
Seriously. Let me put it o you this way.

Do you still revere the 1988 Irish National Football Championship Team? How about the 1977 team? If so I think there is room for the hot women in the past in their prime (with or without full on bush ;) Mr.Larson)

NAILED it JPham!!! On this site I am generally indifferent to either bad grammar or grammar correction -- a few pet peeves aside -- but when a grammar corrector gets corrected?? PRICELESS.

Over the course of my life, I have made it a point of only letting one thing bother me, all others I let slide.

My pet peeve is Chilean Pipe Music. I will murder a muther****ing chilean pipe musician.....

Otherwise, you are good.
