I understand that Texas will always get theirs, but I'm wondering when the elite (and when I say that, I mean based on recruiting rankings) corners will realize the playing time opportunities awaiting them.

I mean at this point a freshman, Russell, has locked down one of the corner spots, and Bennett will be back next year too. All the reserves are sophomores or younger too. Even though they may not be considered "proven", they are playing very well. Though they weren't "elite" recruits, they are leading a top 10 pass efficiency defense; and once your on the field in college you high school rating doesn't mean anything anymore. So its not as cut-and-dry to throw the early-playing-time pitch.

Lo Wood will be a junior.

Bennett Jackson will be a senior next season.

Shumate, Baratti, Turner, etc... Were all recruited as safeties.

This leaves Russel, Brown (also a junior) and Atkinson.

Besides, if you're good enough, BK has shown that he doesn't care how much experience you have, he wants talent on the field.

Honestly after reading and ISD update and what Colin Cowhered say this week and on top of Steve Belles had to say I actually might like our chances with Cole Luke. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself but I wouldn't call him a Texas lean at all. Some think its down to OU and ND. For many of you who don't know his cousin is Darren Woodson and he thinks he can come in at play right away at ND. So this is something to watch for. Also Rob Cassidy thinks ND might lead.

Agreed GB. That's the vibe I'm getting. His parents don't want him to leave and I think is really struggling with it too.

It's funny how our DB recruiting has changed so much. I thought for sure LJ would be the best bet, then Mack, then Luke. Crazy how now it seems to be Luke, Mack, LJ and even having shot at Redfield. This staff has taken the prize fighter route in recruiting. Get in the fight early, fight your fight, and be there when round 12 starts.

Just said he spoke with family of top recruit who wanted to go to USC. USC was not interested so his top 2 choices right now are OK and ND. Did not name recruit, but if you put 2+2 together throughout his recruitment and believe Cowherd isn't just making crap up Luke makes the most sense

I had that thought, but then someone had said that Cowherd said he speaks to a relative of the player in question on a regular basis, and that's where he got his info.
