It pisses me off that I feel like we are are an underdog in this race. His former teamate is playing for us early and playing well on a dominate defense filled with young guys. We are a top program. He plays a position of need.

I hope Diaco's hair is freshly coifed. I'm sick of missing out on top corners. Landing this kid will make me forget about Tee/Darby.

I wonder if we are recruiting him strictly as a CB or as more of an athlete. Jabrill is similar to Davonte Neal in that he could be considered a 5 star type player on both sides of the ball, and is dynamic with the ball in his hands. I'm sure as his recruitment unfolds we will get a better idea of both what he and ND sees.

This kid's recruitment, along with AM's this season, is where ND can say, if we get him, "Jersey is ours b!tches, back off".

I would love to have this pipeline locked up.

only thing that currently worries me is with diaco handling his recruitment and the serious possibility of him getting a head job should we continue to do well

i would be suprised if Diaco jumped for these reasons:

1) He loves these guys. He recruited a lot of them. There is something growing here that he knows he can be the stamp on. He can be the guy that brought a dominant brand of defense back to Notre Dame for the long term. You cant accomplish that after having one great season.

2) With his limited Dcoordinator experience, I don't see a major program offering him after this season. I don't see him as a guy to leave our program to go coach a team like Miami of Ohio or NIU.

3) He has a long history with Kelly. Look at Martin for instance, he could be a head coach at a good program right now, but he would rather be here as the offensive coordinator. Diaco is rainman-smart. He understands the little things that go into building a program. He still has more to learn to become a coach ready to take over a major program for the long-term. He knows Kelly can teach him those skills. I would hope that he wants to learn those skills before jumping from a situation that he is not only great at, but loves.

my $.02...

Plus, ND should offer him whatever dollar amount feel appropriate to keep him around... they have the means, it could be head coach money*. I'm talking alot of zeros.

*(not that this is practical, nor would it happen, nor do I think Diaco would be swayed by money... but I REALLY want Diaco to stick around to help continue awakening this sleeping giant)

i hear what you're saying, but if somebody throws some serious $$$$ at him and we continue to do well i can see a "good" program (program in a BCS conference) make a bid for him...good news is that rutgers is doing well enough that i don't think they'll be looking for a new coach, which had me worried for awhile because of the obvious natural fit.

really hope he's at ND for atleast a couple more years

If the defense continues this performance, all of IE should be giving him a head job.

I think he knows that throwing 3-5 seasons of dominate defense together would put him in position to take a job much better than Rutgers. I hope he does, at least.

If this defense continues this performance, I don't care if my mom give him a head job....

He would he foolish to go there right now imo.

I think so also as of right now. But what if Ferentz gets two years more years and is gone. That's a job I could see getting put in the lap of Diaco. With major $$$, good football tradition generally, great defensive tradition, his alma mater. Lot of stuff he could work with.

Let's not act as if Iowa is not a great landing spot for a first year head coach.

Bud Foster, Kirby Smart, Brent Venables are all much more accomplished defensive coordinators who have retained that position at high profile programs. Hopefully ND pays Diaco enough to keep him around for many years to come.

I like his outlook. Nice young man, I hope he gives us a good look. I think this is Coach Diaco's area. I hope it is.
