Have to love Desmond Howard...Notre Dame does not have a great defense, they have a good defense...teams have just dropped touchdown passes on them.

Important point. It is HUGE that Ty Montgomery won't play in this one. We've been susceptible to fast, dynamic receivers who can get behind the defense. If Philip Dorsett could catch the Miami game would have been way different. We could not cover Owusu in the Stanford game last year.
Montgomery would have been able to stretch our defense and create space underneath the safeties for Stanford's big TEs to work. Without Montgomery, it's a whole new ballgame; I'll feel much better about our ability to cover those TEs.
Two passes do not mean we are susceptible.

you're crazy. I'm expecting it. The only real threats on the schedule are Stanford, Oklahoma, and $C and all 3 look beatable. Take your fancy math and go play lacrosse.
A lil more than 2 passes....
Not many more.

Fill me in on where I missed some
I think he means passes in general, not TD passes. Our opponents have had lots of drops.
I don't remember the Navy one, but MSU had a TD dropped in the south endzone, left side. Russel had really good coverage, but Maxwell threw a beautiful ball that the receiver should have caught...
Actually Russell knocked that one away, didn't he? Or am I thinking of the wrong play? If it's the one I'm thinking of it was a great play by Russell.
I seem to remember three drops on deep balls by Dorsett alone, two on the first drive and another later in the game, but whether it's two passes or more or less is not the point.
We haven't faced enough skilled QB/fast WR combos to know anything for certain about our ability to cover the deep ball against such a battery.
Not many more.

Dorsett dropped 3 easy balls (2 behind the safeties), and one off his finger tips for a total of 4 and I did only say a "lil" and I didn't put it in italics
It looked like he did, but I watched it a couple of times and think the guy just dropped it. I could be wrong. Still, it was a great play by Russell because he ACTUALLY TURNED AROUND and tried to make a play on the ball!!! (Imagine that?)
Maybe someone else has a replay of it?
Hard to say if Russell influenced but I think receiver def. still could have made a play.
The first two were on the same drive....
I get what you're saying though, the young secondary has made some mistakes, (in the Miami game the first two were on the safeties) but overall this squad has far surpassed my expectations
Just a hunch- Chris brown and Neal will have some big plays tomorrow.
