I'm at work so I can't watch the press video, but everything I've read has been from people that were 100% blown away by Teo.

Of course, we around here are already aware of what a great human being Manti is, but it's nice that the whole nation is starting to see the big picture. Teo should be in the Heisman convo... but he should also win a Life Heisman for being what every student-athlete should strive to be off the field, regardless of their production on the field.

Such a fantastic human being. Unbelievable how humble and wise he is for such a young man.

Apparently, they've been using several combinations of players on the starting OL, trying to see what works. We don't really have a clear picture of how good they are. They've done really well in every game except Kansas State (~40 yards rushing, 5 sacks allowed), which just happens to be the only quality team they've played.

This could be why their OL is struggling lol

Reality is none of us really know how this secondary will hold up against a team that throws the ball well...

there is a chance we will find out on Saturday.

I think our front can create enough problems to void that... but if they don't this could be a very interesting game.

Also reality is if the front does their job, and the offense wakes up, this will be a blowout.

Love it. Our players are getting the right mentality. This team is going to go places.

In the interest of keeping my friend's identity out of this, I won't say exactly how he talked to GAIII, but what I'll say is 1000% true, and those of you who know me know I wouldn't make this type of stuff up. GAIII told my friend that one the biggest shocks he had upon coming to ND last year was the fact that after practice was over, it was really over. In other words, everyone left. He was used to the Raider's practices, in which guys would always stay late to get better. Now, obviously college students have responsibilities, eso ND student-athletes, but GA was still surprised, coming from an NFL background.

And it isn't just lip-service either...when I went to a ND practice (outside, that is), GAIII was the last player off the practice field. Dudes were already icing down and he was still working out there. The last time I was out there, I noticed a few more guys leaving late, guys like Toma, Motta and Slaughter. Oh, and the offensive linemen stayed late after practice EVERY SINGLE TIME. Their struggles are not through a lack of hard work, I can tell you that...

It's going to be interesting to watch Miami shuffle OL trying to stop our strongest position. Our DL are going to get pressure without a doubt. I just hope they don't let delayed handoffs go for big plays if we over-pursue.

PS. I've been lurking around for awhile and finally decided to sign up.

Welcome aboard!!!!!!

Ahh for the love of....

I don't want to hear that. One of the only things I love nearly as much as Notre Dame winning is that jagoff eating crow.

Beat me to it. I had the exact same reaction.

Must watch

I agree with what everyone is saying on this board. What I really see this year is TEAM. No ego's on this team. Same with the recruits for 2013. Bring your lunch pail with you to work type of kids.

You hate to put so much pressure on any one man, but how can this team lose? Please, no witty or logical responses about an underperforming offense. His character and resolve permeate this team, you just have that feeling that he can will this team to victory every week.

What the mind can believe, the body can achieve. This is the year. THIS IS THE YEAR.

The NCAA 20 hour a week limitation is the difference between the Raiders practice and college. Ask WVU and UM.

I think what GAIII might have meant was the players on there own can stay after to work on things as long as the coaches aren't there and its not mandatory. UM and WVU arent smart enough to realize that though.

I've watched all of the Miami games so far this year. There is no reason that we shouldn't roll in this game. Weirder things have happened (cough.. USF), but if we go out and execute, we should be able to put up a big win.

Manti is probably thinking: this guy has been here every day this week and every time he has a different stroller with a different kid in it...he is probably the same guy that security had to run off for peeping through the fence holes during practice this spring....creeper.

What does their front 7 look like? If ND can run consistently, punich it in when in red zone, and keep Morris off the field, this should be in hand by end of 3rd quarter.

Their one DT didn't practice the other day and a few of their writers don't expect him to play. I will try and find an article.

EDIT

Miami Hurricanes report Notre Dame week - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

The news is not so good for Miami starting defensive tackle Olsen Pierre.

Coach Al Golden said he was "doubtful" for Saturday's game with No. 9 Notre Dame after missing two days of practice with an injury. Redshirt freshman Corey King of Boca Raton is playing in Pierre's place in practice.

And in that corner… The Miami Hurricanes | Inside the Irish

3. On the other side of the ball, the Hurricanes have some pretty ugly numbers defensively. As someone that’s watched every snap this year, how bad is it? What’s been the biggest problem for Mark D’Onofrio’s unit?

It’s pretty bad at times. This is a young group with serious deficiencies in certain places. The defensive tackles aren’t very deep and will likely be without starter Olsen Pierre on Saturday. The most talented players are also the youngest. Sophomores and freshmen play many key roles, but also make the biggest mistakes. It’s a work in progress that might not be complete for another year. Forcing turnover (six of them) was huge last week when allowing 644 yards to NC State.

Sans Chickilo, they have looked pretty bad. As others have mentioned, every team they have played have been able to run the ball and not worry about pressure on their QB. I expect Golson to have time to throw and for us to gash them with the run game.

That being said, Chickilo really is blossoming. Denzel Perriman has also been out the last two weeks and is returning. They had a true freshman playing in his spot the last two weeks. Supposedly, Rapheal Kirby is supposed to get his first college action this week as well. He has been nursing an injury until this week. This is notable because he was a big time recruit in last year's class. Top 5-15 OLB. So while they may have stunk all year, they have reasons to believe that they could be improved this week.

Matt Fortuna, ESPN blogger for ND, has us winning 38-14.

Piggy Back

Notre Dame prediction: Week 6 vs. Miami - College Football Nation Blog - ESPN

The 4-0 and ninth-ranked Irish return from their bye week to clash with the 4-1 Hurricanes in their annual Shamrock Series game, this one at Chicago's Soldier Field. The two last met in the 2010 Sun Bowl, a 33-17 Notre Dame win, but this is their first regular-season game since 1990.

When Miami has the ball: Beware of Stephen Morris and the rest of the Hurricanes' playmakers at the skill positions. Morris threw for an ACC-record 566 yards in last week's win over NC State, including 271 in the first quarter alone. Miami has eclipsed 600 yards of offense in each of its past two games, totaling 86 points. Notre Dame's passing defense ranks 19th nationally but has yet to face an offensive attack with the explosive weapons that Miami has. The question is if Miami will have the chance to let those guys shine. The Hurricanes young starting offensive line will be going against one of the best defensive fronts in the country one week after losing fifth-year senior Ben Jones, who left his first career start at right tackle with a knee injury and is out Saturday.

When Notre Dame has the ball: Has Everett Golson put a forgettable performance against Michigan in the rearview mirror? Brian Kelly said this week that Golson had a bit of a shoulder issue that has since been cleared up. The Irish will need more out of their signal caller, who once again will be facing a big opponent on a big stage. Fortunately for him, Miami's defense is ranked 91st or worse in four major categories -- rushing, passing, total and scoring. This could be the perfect opportunity for Golson to answer several lingering questions over the past two weeks, and he and the rest of the offense needs to play within itself.

Intangible: Duke Johnson has made as big of an impact as a freshman can through his first month in college. He averages 6.9 yards per carry, has rushed for five touchdowns, caught one score and has returned a kickoff back for a score. But he managed just 19 rushing yards in Miami's loss to Kansas State, which has the nation's No. 14 rushing defense.

Prediction: Notre Dame 38, Miami 14

Whoa.

How credible? Anything to substantiate them? Or are we talking about idle speculation?

After Kelly's comments in the media this week I'd be pretty surprised if Golson didn't start.

Part of me is like "OH NO!"

And then the other part is like "Screw it, let's just win the game."

I really would rather see Golson, but I trust BK enough that if this is true, there is probably good reason for it. I wouldn't mind seeing a resurgence in our rushing attack. Especially from a guy that I thought would be absolutely lighting up by now. I'm looking at you, Cierre.
