5. Stephon Tuitt, DE, Notre Dame
Tuitt carries his weight really well; it looks like he has more room to add some bulk. He's almost J.J. Watt-like in terms of his build. And his big-play production has been outstanding so far this season. Tackles for loss, sacks, fumble recoveries, touchdowns ... he just has a nose for the ball.
From what I've seen on tape, he appears to have a good closing burst, can be a powerful hitter and it looks like he has the potential to play multiple positions along the line, including 5-technique as a 3-4 defensive end and 3-technique as a 4-3 defensive tackle. That versatility is probably going to add to his value before it's all said and done.
He's going to have to get stronger in the lower body and be more consistent. I saw a couple of plays in the Michigan game where he ended up on the ground. But again, like Johnson, he's just young. This is why players have years to develop. Both Tuitt and Johnson would be risks as first-round picks right now, but the potential is there. They really stand out as players who, if the arrow keeps heading north, could be top-15-caliber players by the time they're eligible.
