Response I got from a USC fan,

Burks moved to FB. JR Tavai (undersized NT who saw action last year) to DE so it's Tavai/Townsend (RS Frosh) with Horton (returning starter) and Breslin (JC). Greene is backing up at both most likely. Depth is getting thin. Horton is very good and Tavai/Townsend are solid. Greene is raw but has a lot of potential.

And after I thanked the poster, he/she replied further,

No problem. By the way Breslin was a JuCo All-American who led the state in sacks. He's yet to prove he can hold up against the run and the level of comp. is much higher, but he has real pass rushing skills no doubt.

Townsend is the son of an NFL player, and redshirted last year, but the staff is very high on him long term, but Tavai has actual playing time and the position switch suits his skills very well. He might hold Townsend off for the starting nod.

BTW, Townsend has been in a walking boot the past couple of days and has been out of practice, so they're even more thin now...

USC Scrimmage Review:
Some quick scrimmage impressions while acknowledging not to make too much of any scrimmage:

USC committed five turnovers and 11 penalties in 83 plays. The positive side says the defense made plays. But this is a veteran, star-studded offense, so the defense should not be making this many plays.

Matt Barkley still goes through phases where he forces passes. This tends to be a practice issue that doesn't appear as much in games but it was apparent today.

The defense failed to cover wide receiver Victor Blackwell on a 1-yard TD pass from Cody Kessler because of substitution problems when the offense ran a new formation. This is something that cannot happen against Hawaii. The defense also committed six of those 11 penalties.

Aundrey Walker started at left tackle and Max Tuerk played split time with the reserves before moving to the first unit. Walker commited a false start penalty.

Lane Kiffin wanted to get George Farmer into the offense by throwing the first three passes at him. Only one was completed.

Safety Gerald Bowman, linebacker Scott Starr and defensive tackle George Uko made big plays. Cornerback Kevon Seymour forced Redd's fumble.

USCs biggest strength on offense is our biggest weakness on defense while our strength on defense is USCs biggest weakness on offense:

Todd McShay ‏@McShay13
Studying USC OFF. Really like route combos/spacing. Barkley capitalizes w/ vision, timing. Woods runs strong routes. Lee takes top off!

USC's O-Line will miss LOT Kalil but it returns four quality starters. Excellent pass pro, but want to see more strength in run game in 2012

All 3 results were expected, but I was hoping Bauchman wouldn't be cleared cause they would have really been hurting at CB even more than they already are...

Condoms Suck

Condoms Suck

does this affect their recruiting class numbers any?
I was wondering the same thing.

ESPN is ****ing horseshit said:
USC cornerback Isiah Wiley has been ruled academically ineligible for the 2012 season and has been taken off athletic scholarship
-1?

ESPN is ****ing horseshit said:
With Wiley off scholarship, USC is now able to extend scholarships to all three walk-ons who had been given them in previous seasons and still meet the NCAA-mandated limit of 75

Give it to a walk-on with their year-to-year policy? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And people were wondering why the rumor-mill is saying they are still going for two more this class.

Lame Kiffin said:
"I'm sorry Son, but you knew this was a year to year arrangement and while I'd love to extend you a ride, with these damn scholarship reductions I just can't. Is there any way you can swing it and stay part of this championship team?"

Watch Matt Barkley run off the field without even congratulating the other team. What a chump.

Once I get some time, I'll condense the Stanford-USC game (ideally before the Stanford game)

Thanks man. For this and the ND games.

Barkley almost crying in post game interview was pretty sweet. I bet they plow Cal this week.

Before I mainly feared USC, now I fear USC and Stanford.

in the wake of the Stanford beat-down of the Trojans and Matt Barkley in particular, a re-occuring theme kept coming up with my discussions today with my dejected USC co-workers; Apparently, most of them have done the math, and they dont like how USC's offensive line is adding up with ND's defensive line. I know the game is still 2 months away, but USC peeps have already took notice of ND's beastly front 7.

its not like usc-types to comment on matchups that are not in their favor....Troy-nation sees the Irish coming, and it is making them uncomfortable.

Most of their OL problems were the result of Khaled Holmes being injured. He's supposed to be back by the time we play.

The week before they have to deal with the Irish, they're gonna need to get through UCLA at the Rose Bowl. UCLA is pretty pissed off about last year's pimp slapping to the tune of 50-0. The Bruins are looking to beat them up, which I for one, am completely fine with. You must hang out with the rarest type of Trojan fan; a smart Trojan fan. I unfortunately am surrounded by the blind, douchey bandwagon type that only know the QB. Yet, they walk around wearing SC gear like they're getting ready to run at a track meet. I can't stand living in La La land sometimes.

13. USC -- now what?

Forget a national championship, USC isn't going to win the Pac-12 South Division if it keeps playing like Traveler is calling formations.

Barkley was so un-Barkley-ish against Stanford that questions about the health of his throwing shoulder have bubbled to the surface. USC says he's fine, but the fact remains that Barkley has exactly zero completions of 50 yards or more since the opener against Hawaii and only one completion longer than 29 yards.

By the way, Barkley has the best pair of receivers in the country: Marqise Lee and Robert Woods.

During Sunday's teleconference, Kiffin openly wondered about Barkley's decision-making on several throws during the Stanford game. He didn't do it to be cruel. It was as if he were as surprised as everyone else that Barkley was capable of Homer Simpson moments.

USC is a semi-surprising 17-point favorite at home against Cal on Saturday. The remainder of its schedule: at Utah, at Washington, Colorado, at Arizona, Oregon, Arizona State, at UCLA, Notre Dame.

With the exception of the CU game (the Buffs are beyond dreadful), there isn't a breather in the bunch. USC is good enough to win any of those games, and inconsistent enough to lose them too.

Stanford is no stiff, so I'm not quite sure why the Trojans did the rankings freefall after the road loss. But there's no denying that Barkley (0 TDs, 2 INTs vs. the Cardinal), the offensive line (it was a mess without injured fifth-year senior center Khaled Holmes) and the defense could use a cup of hot cocoa and a hug.

USC also might be the first top-15 team not to have a place-kicker on the roster. Check that -- the Trojans have one (Alex Wood), but Kiffin trusts him as far as he can kick him.

Wood is on the field because starter Andre Heidari is recovering from knee surgery. Oh, wait -- nobody is supposed to know that about Heidari. Kiffin's orders. Instead, I guess we were all supposed to think Heidari hadn't taken recent road trips with the team because he was afraid of, what, airplane food?

Anyway, the Trojans haven't attempted a field goal since the Sept. 1 opener against Hawaii. Wood kicks extra points, but apparently he has as much chance of kicking a 3-pointer as one of the Song Girls -- maybe less.USC can recover. With a few breaks, the Trojans could even worm their way back into the national championship team photo. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but it's possible."

Ouch....

Reflection of leadership. Kiffin is a snake. His team is a unit held together by band-aids and duct tape. Troy will fall.
