...I really like this font re-sizing thing; somehow I had a feeling that would be the only part of the post anybody noticed.

Profile has a pic - I'm sure I'll post more later. I'd hate for the MSU thread to end up filled with pics of me, let's leave that to Kate Upton's boobs

She already has close to a millio in the bank! Who's your (sugar) daddy?!?!? :awesomewo

I have a few thoughts on this game. Number 1 I don't think that they, being Michigan St, can grind out a victory against us. I think they have to hit us with big plays and cause turnovers to be successful. Number 2 I think we have a better shot of blowing them out than they do. I really think everything must go completely one sided for them to beat us badly. I just don't see that happening. I think our defense keeps us in the game. I see us winning a close game. 24-21.

Did I miss something? How is college gameday not coming to a game with two top 25 teams playing each other during prime time? Instead, they picked a lower ranked Florida team vs. unranked Tennessee....

And give ND any more attention than they have to? Highlights last weekend were hard to come by, like 30 seconds at the very end of the hour long sportscenter. That is after some of their swami's called for a Purdue upset, whoops - sweep that under the rug. Golson threw for 290 yards with some nice highlights in there and Tommy wins it down the stretch, could you squeeze more drama out of that matchup? Also a chance to point out a few of Purdue's players that will be a thorn in the side of the Big Ten this year in that CB and DT. Don't you want to be early to point out first round type of talent?

Add in the ACC move this week and ESPN is insane to miss the opportunity to play off the ND spotlight. Tennessee/Florida = weak sauce, high chance of a boring blowout. ND - MSU will most likely be a brawl and a half, like it is most the time we meet. With half the Big Ten getting upset last week, MSU might be the one to watch, with this being one of their tougher games of the year. (Besides being favored and we know how much ESPN likes to see us lose).

Prayers to Manti. Whether there in person or in spirit, I hope the team plays an inspired game on his behalf.

Should Notre Dame win the MSU game, this would shock the college football world outside of Notre Dame friendly people. CBS for instance has seven commentators plus one computer which pick games. They are unanimously picking MSU. If I were just going on this year, and wasn't an ND homer, I'd be picking MSU too --- except for one thing.

Notre Dame, almost mysteriously, knows how to shut down MSU running more than any team in the nation. If this mysterious phenomenon continues this year, then State cannot function offensively. I've watched some of their QBs film and he has been shockingly erratic even on wide open throws. If State cannot move the ball consistently, then Diaco's bend don't break style will severely limit their points IF WE GIVE THEM NO SHORT FIELDS. So I AM picking Notre Dame because somehow we know exactly what we need to do vs this very team. So, to the CBS analysts: "I smarteren' you are!!"

To echo OMM and Whiskey's comments, everyone else thinks we are going to lose. But we (Irish fans) know this is a coin flip game. SHOCK THE WORLD

As someone already state we are ahead in the series 46-28-1, but here are a few more numbers to ponder over.

Last Five Games: Michigan State leads 3-2

Last 10 Games: Tied 5-5

When Both Teams Are Ranked: MSU leads 7-4-1

When MSU is Ranked Higher: MSU leads 10-3

When MSU is Ranked in Top 10: MSU leads 7-2-1

Last Year: ND 31, #15 MSU 13 at ND

Last Time at MSU: MSU 34, ND 31 (OT) in 2010

Last ND Win at MSU: #12 ND 40, MSU 37 in 2006

Last Time Both Teams Were Ranked:
#23 MSU 27, #16 ND 21 in 2000 at MSU

dang, even as a ND fan... I think that is high for what we have done so far, I like that site. :)

This early in the season, it's still heavily influenced by last season's results. Which just reinforces that the 2011 team was really good, but turnovers at crucial moments killed what would otherwise have been a BCS run.

It looks more like they are picking ND to cover, but MSU to win. Am I looking at the info wrong?

You're right. The model projects State winning by 0.7 points. Coin flip indeed.

Manti will play Saturday.

Golson didn't take any direct snaps this week as a precaution for his hand.

Haha, with Big East officials doing the game, we know what 0.7 points are:

An extra point attempt that hits the upright; or is it a fake field goal run after the play clock has hit zero? (I offer up the latter, fully convinced that there was 0.001 seconds on my stop watch when Brax snapped to Tommy on the 3rd down pass to Goodman last week ;) )

I would bet Manti is going to play inspired football and have a great game. Still, no consolation to the awful loss he has suffered.

From Steve Helwagen from 247:

* Notre Dame at Michigan State (-6), 8 p.m. (ABC) – This game has produced a lot of great memories, even if last year’s 31-13 win by the Irish in South Bend was not necessarily one of them. Two years ago, MSU won 34-31 in overtime on the “Little Giants” fake field goal touchdown pass. Notre Dame leads the all-time series at 46-28-1. It sounds like ND will start Everett Golson at QB, but Brian Kelly won’t hesitate to go to Tommy Rees if need be. That could happen because MSU boasts one of the best defenses in the country. Both teams are 2-0. Why do I feel this one is going down to the wire (again)? After all, four of their last seven meetings have been decided by a field goal. Michigan State 26-23

ESPN's analysis on the MSU OL match-up vs. ND DL...huh, whu???

"The Irish pass rush has mostly come from its interior defensive linemen, as DE Stephon Tuitt and NG Louis Nix III have combined for 5.5 of the team's seven sacks through two games. Tuitt might be able to cause some problems for RG Mike Golic Jr., but in certain situations the Irish can provide help from C Braxston Cave, and then hand the duties of keeping Nix in check to LG Chris Watt."

In related news, in order to minimize head injuries, FBS teams will now use their own defensive linemen to rush their offense...taking a page from beer-league softball teams that pitch to themselves. Apparently responses from the teams have been mixed:

Coach Saban of 'Bama: "this sux"

Coach Chryst of Pitt: "what's a pass rush?"

For those that don't know, Manti lost his grandmother and a close personal friend at the same time. And Coach Kelly announced he has practiced this week and will play on Saturday. What a great teammate!
