Running style very similar to The Bus....lets hope he becomes 1/2 the player big Jerome was.

Has anyone else noted how many mobsters emulate, or are remenescent of some pretty successfull ball players?

It seems almost stunning.

Gerry Hamilton of 247 said he is a great downfield power runner but can also be used out of the backfield.

Exactly what we need

Wow! Never seen a stud running back's recruitment sneak up on so many people, but I love it. He even looks like "the bus" rocking numero 6. Insane, can't wait, congrats young man.

Kinda like Jonas Gray and Jerome Bettis had a baby boy.

That grew up.

In Texas against Texas talent.

Nice...

definitely a powerback, but I really like the pick up. None of the recruiting sites have it up yet and none of them even show an offer from ND. Quite surprising.

Definitely like the highlights though. Powerback like Jonas Gray is never a bad thing to have alongside all the speedy backs.

He reminds me of Beanie Wells more than anyone. Beanie maybe a little faster, but they are both big backs with speed, and will lower the shoulder. I like this pickup a LOT considering we have not really a bruiser. Mahone is kinda in that area between a back like Cierre but doesnt have Cierres speed, and doesnt have Jamels physicality so Mahone can bulk up or slim down. while James will be that guy on 3rd and 1 or 3rd and goal we can use.

Great day to be Irish.

Kind of concerning that he apparently wanted to commit to FSU before, and they wouldn't take it, and then committed to ND without ever visiting. I'll take it, but I just hope it sticks.

I agree.

FSU feels really good about landing Collins, plus they have Green this year and Yearby for '14. They are sitting pretty at rb.

Great surprise though, welcome! Super pumped.

Looking at his high school, they were ranked 3rd best out of the Houston area in 2007.

In the 2005 school year:

508 of the school's 3,314 students took an Advanced Placement test; 89% of them passed and 30% received a perfect score.

The composite ACT score was 24.3, noticeably higher than the national average of 20.9.

A GPA of 3.8750 was required to enter the top quarter of the high school class.

The average SAT score was 1141, which is 113 points above the national average of 1028.

In 2008, Cinco Ranch was named a National Blue Ribbon School.

In 2012 Newsweek ranked them 354th out of 27K schools. Placing in the Top 1,600 places you in the top 6% in the nation.

In other words, this kid is also smart.

I love this quote: "I’m 100 percent committed,” he said. “I’m taking every one of my visits to Notre Dame.”

To be fair, I took a few minutes to Wiki his high school. It's nice to know what kind of schools these kids are coming from. What kind of learning environment are the surrounded by. If he is already handling a tough work load in HS then his transition my not be AS bad as some others. It also will speak, albeit just a little bit, to the possibility of a de-commitment. If you're coming from a rough high school/neighborhood and are easily influenced, well, all bets are off. Coming from somewhere where the support system is strong and people are highly educated, then a commitment might mean more.

Not always the case as it's not a scientific fact but you get the idea.

Can you do that? I just hope he doesn't get sick of the place by Wake Forest weekend. ;)
Great pickup. Exactly the kind of player we need. But I'm not gonna lie, I'd feel more comfortable if he'd at least visited. Long time til Signing Day on this one.

Absolutely! I was curious about the same, for very similar reasons. Nice job, sir!

Also, Wooly was talking about the rule of three's...let's get Tori Hunter Jr. and call it a trifecta in the Lonestar state. Great job Coach Cooks.

I love the kids who commit before they have visited because if they love it enough to commit before, I know they are going to love ND even more after they visit. Very excited about this kid.

Super excited about this commitment. Looks like Jonas 2.0

Little concerned that he wanted to go to FSU and was committed to Arkansas before...

Really like this pick up
