I saw Maty two weekends ago at the Regional Track meet and I said to him "Go Notre Dame" he looked at me and smirked. He was pretty cool. I told him how I couldn't get my cousin (Doran Grant) to come to ND so I was trying to get him. He smiled and laughed. For a QB he ran a 22.5 200 meter dash and long jumped 21-11.50

Not bad... slower than me... but not bad ;) That's a really legit long jump... 22' will place/win in most states. Pretty sweet.

Hope he goes to Missouri. My Grandma is a season ticket holder there and I like to see that school do well.

Lets just say Mizzou fans seem to feel good about this. And they like mauk a heck of a lot more than ND fans do.

Well...according to a high school football site in Ohio his decision is coming tomorrow.

JJHuddle.com - Ohio HS Insider: Mauk decision coming Thursday, Back-Ups with offers

Not sure what this means. Choosing between Michigan, ND, and Mizzou with Ohio St as a darkhorse. I think he's going to a 7 on 7 tourney in missouri this weekend (atleast they did last year). was his last visit to ND enough to seal the deal?

thoughts?

Would be nice to see him come to ND, but my gut tells me Mizzou.

Although we are spread, the Mizzou offense is more of a perfect fit for him, plus i don't see a log jam on the depth chart out there. I agree i see him going west, but wouldn't be surprised at the least if he ends up at ND or Michigan for that matter.

I really believe had tressel stayed at Ohio St they would have been a huge factor...rumblings around here that they pushed late. I guess you gotta bring in a kid an hour away with those type of numbers at least for a look.

It was until he found out about Wooley. Apparently Mauk has trouble playing for a fan whose dad writes all his posts for him.

If my dad wrote my posts, there would be a lot more cuss words with random factiods about the local indingenous population in regards to their safety procedures with lions.

So, it would be similar.

When a kid announces immediately after a visit, it is common thought to believe that he will be announcing for that school. In this case though, just yesterday Crabtree was doing a Q&A at the 7 on 7. He thought Mauk was Irish. I dont know if he even knows what he is talking about, but thats what he said.

I have learned to sit back and shut up at this point, it will be what it will be.

Debate Question

Do you guys want Mauk to commit to ND?

Pros to his commitment: Great dual threat QB...period.

Cons to his commitment: Have good QBs waiting in the wings/takes up a schollie slot ND could use elsewhere

Thoughts???

It's been discussed in the past but I wanted to get an update on it since recruiting is so "peaks-and-valleys".

I'm up in the air on this so that's why I pose the question to get opinions.

haha, I am in way too good of a mood to go over this conversation again. There are three threads (Kiel, Mauk and Kiel vs Mauk) that go VERY in depth on the subject. I really dont see any reasoning to rehash it again.

I'll just wait for his announcement.

No. We have 4 QBs. Give me another position player in his slot.

He's not coming to ND. ND passed. I wanted him to be a verbal, but the staff moved on to the 2013 QBs. I'm good with it...

I could honestly care less one way or another on this kid. He is a talented quarterback but I would rather the slot be filled by another position of need and quite honestly we have a nice cupboard of talent at the quarterback position. I think we can do without a quarterback this class. If he does commit to us then, I will welcome him of course but I won't be disappointed if he goes elsewhere like Missouri.

It seems ND and Michigan have both completely moved on to 2013 QBs.

...and for good reason. Great kid, great player, watched his brother play but I'd rather go after another RB/WR/O-Dline. In the end I think he will be happy with his decision because he may not have seen PT at ND.

I feel the same way.

Don't forget, we have a player currently on our roster (Massa) with QB experience, and another hopefully coming in with experience as well (Barratti). Add that to the four very talented QB's, and the cupboard is full. QB is a position where we are certianly not lacking in depth.

Woolybug will be able to breath a sigh of relief if Mauk announces tomorrow, not ND, lol. I will too. With our class filling up and our biggest recruiting venues ahead of us (USC, Michigan, etc), I hope we hold out for studs.

the safe pick for mauk would definitely be missouri. no threat of having to battle a full depth chart like at ND or have to worry about the media in michigan forcing him out the door for a kid younger than he is.

Michigan's 2013 verbal is going to be a royal pain in our arse for years to come I am afraid.

Their current one too!

To be honest, we'll see if Shane Morris sticks. I know he grew up a Michigan fan and seems like a virtual lock, but there is a whole season before his actual signing year comes. A lot can change in that amount of time.
