PSU boards are reporting that it's a torn ACL and will miss his senior season of football.

He must be considering flipping to ND having gotten the prerequisite ND presigning injury.

I hope his football future turns out differently than Ragone's did.

This is not the tweet of a solid commitment. My guess is he wants to see what's headed PSU's way before making any definitive statements regarding the status of his commitment to them. If he was 100% solid at this point, why not say it?

Interesting. I'm not overly confident that Breneman will flip somewhere. The kids that I'd be worried about if I were a PSU fan are the kids who committed not so much because they love PSU as because they wanted to get in on the ground floor of the Bill O'Brien era, return PSU to glory, play in bowl games, etc. Breneman is a PA kid who seemed to make his decision based on a love for Penn State, so I see him sticking. Not saying I know anything, just speculating. Could be completely wrong.

Can't blame the him and his dad for taking a step back and not talking about it. They were probably getting hounded non-stop.

They're all going to flip. Can't imagine them keeping any of their highly rated recruits.

Yup. 100% spot on. Any bowl ban 3+ years in length => no one with serious offers staying put. 2 years and under... you could see people in this recruiting class staying committed and saying "oh well, I miss a bowl my frosh year" but there is no way any 4:s: kid is going to go play for a crap team that has a 0% chance of playing in a bowl for their first 3 years... and probably a 50-50 chance at best, if they play enough patsies, of getting a real sucky team to a 6-6 bowl in their senior year.

Put yourself in their shoes and there is a 0% you'd go to Penn State versus Other BCS Offer XYZ. It's interesting the timing of all of this because, now with a torn ACL, our limited spots, Heurman signed up, AND Troy Niklas not down for the count... we likely don't push here. If any of those 4 conditions are different, odds are we would push and add Adam to the class, but I just don't really see it happening now. Could be wrong though, there are certainly some scenarios where we could make a move.

I think ND will take a strong look at offering Fuller and Douglas. I think Sickels and Muhammed both come into play now as pass rushing prospects that will decide later in the cycle. I imagine Sickels is going to have to start over and want to do OVs.... was very solid to Penn State.

If not for his ACL tear I would have no hesitation to go after him.

But.

He tore his ACL.

More than any other kid IMO he wants to stay. But when Hackenberg leaves I think he will follow.

I also don't think ND will pursue him because we already have Heuerman.

Wasnt there talk earlier in the year of us taking two TEs?

Yes, in most part due to uncertainty with Niklas. For the time being, that uncertainty has been removed as he slated to play this year and moving forward.

Yeah, and also, assuming we get another OLB this cycle, Mattingly can play TE if we run into depth problems there.

Right you are budday, I think since we got Matuska and Mattingly that could play TE it will depend on who the remaining front seven kids are that we lock up. Say we get a Sickells or a Sherit to go along with Muhammad then you can slide one of the M&M's over to TE. If not they may have to look at Adam or others to see if there is anyone that they like enough to lock up one of these precious few schollies.

Right, Matuska too. Forgot about him.

See that's what is so great about Kelly's recruiting philosophy by going after Skill, Power, and Big Skill. It makes for mucho versatility! You've seen it now with Niklas being moved from LB to TE with options at OL or DL for him as well. Carrico was recruited for DL but moved to OG. Bennett from WR to CB. You get what I'm saying.

Screw it. He probably has to redshirt wherever he goes anyway in order to rehab his ACL. I say bring him on and let him sit for a year.

Then next cycle, we take an extra RB to make up for not getting one in this class. Because the reality is that we probably aren't getting any blue chip rb's this year. Which would you rather have? Preserving a 3star RB next year or preserving a #1 overall TE?

I would take the TE and plan on running two TE sets with him an Huerman here in a couple years. We can also focus on other needs then in the '14 class.

Wiltfong and Sapp both seem to doubt that we would take another TE this year. Sapp more strongly; Wiltfong had a more "let's wait and see" attitude.
