Clemson already has 3 stud D-line commits. I'd be surprised if they took him as a fourth, unless they would take him as a LB.

Best possible outcome. Had been hoping he'd postpone his announcement.

It really is, but some people are taking the wrong approach IMO. This kid ain't chopped liver and I would be thrilled if we got him. I am kind of thinking his buddy Edwards threw a wrench in his decision and he didn't really want to end up at Cuse with all the great offers he has.

Was told he was going to be a Gator unless something happened. Something must have happened.

Hooper is a better player now. You will not find better coached kids than De La Salle players but Ogundeko has a higher ceiling. RS no matter what so he can take his time.

I would take him over that Cali kid ND is looking at but I get your frustration

Based on upside alone, yes. But taking all factors into consideration, I'd take Hooper first. If Ogundeko "committed", he'd immediately become our top flight risk. No thanks.

Yeah, I feel like I know what I'm getting with Hooper, and I'm confident he could be a good, solid DE/ROLB. I could see Ogundeko either growing into a Darius Fleming-like starter--or flaming out, never cracking the line-up and transferring to a MAC-level school for his 5th year.

I am not sure he has the personality or character to fit in at Notre Dame.

Edit: Let me make this clear. When I used the word character above I wasn't high on drugs, or otherwise inebriated. I might as well have been. In my attempt not to interject too much of my personality into my suppostion I tried to be vague on purpose. I shouldn't have been. I do not have the right to judge a person. I did not nor do I mean 'high' or 'low' character. Nor did I mean deficite of character. What I meant was best described as personality. My statement should have been: "I am not sure he has the personality to fit in at Notre Dame." That would have come to closer to my meaning

So what you're saying is that he doesn't have the chest for it?

Even if he commits to Clemson, or wherever, this one isn't going to be over until Feb 1. Get used to hearing his name pop back up.

No, seriously for a moment. I would never criticize a player in that way. And my comment wasn't even meant as a criticism. When certain combat teams are put together prospective members are observed with each other. Those with certain habits are excused. Doesn't make them bad marines or soldiers.

Listening to this kid, his sense of purpose just isn't there. There is a different level of maturity with the "Mob." I cannot explain it, but there is a difference between looking at a EO and a JS, or even last year's GK, that changed his committment twice.

I honestly don't understand why. I am not at all excited by the idea of this kid ending up at Notre Dame.

I don't mean it in a good way. The kid has potential to be great, but I'm with you, there are better fish in the sea.

All I'm saying is that even if he commits anywhere, he's still going to be looking around and rumors about flipping will abound.

Jeeez people! You are all hating on a 17 year old kid. I mean a 17 year old, not even out of high school yet.

You people don't know what his personality is like or what type of character he has. Maybe I should talk badly about all your kids character.

This has been bothering me about his thread for a while now.

Sherm, i am generally with you on this but at same time you can't ignore the oddity that is Ebenezer's recruitment. He has set, what, three dates already to not announce at all, has been on video saying he already knew where he wanted to go and now is boasting about new written offers.

This has been bothering me about bhis thread for a while now.

I've never seen a kid who has a ND offer and that the coaches are obviously recruiting and who has ND in his top 3, get as much heat from irishenvy members as this kid. I've erased so many posts talking crap about this kid, it's ridiculous. Tired of losing the fight, so I let it go awhile ago. Apparently people are fine with taking shots at this kid, warranted or not...

Hold on, what does that make a kid like Gunner Kiel? What he did was far worse than what Ebenezer has done (if anything, he's learned from his mistake by NOT committed again when he wasn't sure.) But it's OK for Kiel b/c he's Irish? What about Anzalone? Committed to OSU, then decommitted, then committed to ND, then went to FNL at Florida, still 100% committed to ND apparently. It's OK for him though? How about Nick Martin? Committed to Kentucky for almost the entire process, said he was 100% to them, never wavered, and then ND offered, he waited a couple of months, then finally decommitted from Kentucky and came to ND, late in the process, leaving Kentucky to fill a void very late. Why aren't ND fans ripping him?

ND's roster is filled with kids who changed their minds, a lot of them starters. And yet we pick and choose who 'gets it' and who has character issues...

Yeah I'm not aware of anything about Ebenezer that calls his character into question. I feel like we kind of turned on him after his poor reviews at the Opening. I hope he gets some good coaching and shows us during the season that he's a stud after all.

I never said it was ok, that a kid "gets it" or doesn't, or that anyone has a character issue LA. I was agreeing with Sherm that we shouldn't bag their character but at same time you have to take notice when it becomes a trend. Not sure why I needed all those examples but thanks.

This character thing has gotten out of hand. All the kid is trying to do is pick the best school or him. Like everybody says its a 40 year decision.
