Some tweets from our old pal Tee Shepard are making a slow news day a little more interesting over there. Anybody that's not a complete moron (like 99% of 4HL) have any insight on this?

*Sorry for vague drive-by post. Apparently Tee wants to come to ND afterall, based on some communication via phone and twitter.

I'm guessing it's actually the Instagram comments he made about trying to return.

Don't follow him on Twitter so idk if he tweeted also.

Interesting, how would that even work? Would they take him back?

I know that you have to at least try to succeed at ND and they will work with you as proven in past situations. Tee I like ya from when we've talked but there wasnt any effort put in so i dont see it happening.

Considering he was offered then left because.... uh hum.... "medical reasons" first he would have to pass all the medical test.... then i would imagine since he fell behind academically he would have to reserve for a 5th..... It would be a very long and hard road for this young man.... and he seems to not be the patient type....

To some college students school is nothing but a tool to becoming a professional athlete. while others actually see the importance of it.... I feel Tee is more the tool...

Tee is wishy-washy and seems to have issues making a decision and sticking with it. dare I say, reminds me of Aaron Lynch. As we all know with Lynch, it didnt work out. I think of Tee in the same manner...

what would stop another ambiguous medical condition to arise? Would he actually attend classes, or just shoot videos of himself in the ND lockerroom again?

maybe im being harsh on the kid, but the drama that surround certain recruits can be exasperating.

Needs to get past the NCAA Clearinghouse first.

ND took a risk trying to get him in. I'm not sure the school will want to try that again.

Everyone is entitled to a few mistakes (especially an 18 year old). As long as ND doesn't think it creates a bad vibe for the team, I'd certainly give him a 2nd chance.

If he's healthy and he won't be a detriment to the locker room, I'd take him. If a high caliber defensive back wants to be at ND and can be at ND, then he should be at ND.

If Tee gets his head on straight, spends a year at a J.C. learning how to study, getting some core classes done, and excelling at them - then I hope he does talk to our coaches and administration about returning.
Here is a kid who changed high schools, did not get to play football, probably focused on his training because of that; and maybe thought college was about football. He Enrolled Early, which was quite possibly too soon for him. Obviously things weren't working for him (probably mostly in the classroom) and he needed to clear his head and re-evaluate life. Maybe he finally gets what ND is about and wants to be part of that. Maybe he sees the other guys who are going there and wants to associate with them.
I don't want to bash Fresno, having traveled multiple times play sports there in high school, but it has some rough neighborhoods and I can see Tee looking at where his is now and where he was 6 months ago, and realizing what is best.
I have yet to see him say anything negative about ND, and still has good feeling for it. Kelly & co, were gracious in his departure, maybe leaving the door open. Granted this is speculation from headlines I've seen, but if Tee is focused and will put forth the effort to succeed at Notre Dame - I am all for giving him a second chance. And I hope he gets it.

I feel like a lot of peoples' comments about Tee either ignore the reality of his situation or are being made by people who are ignorant to that reality. It would be wrong to say that Tee bears no responsibility for his not being at Notre Dame, but I think it would also be wrong to assume that his not being at ND right now was his "decision." There is a reason he is not at ND, and I don't know of hard feelings about it on either side. If he got that situation figured out, I'd love to see him come back.

This could be a storybook ending if Tee comes back and succeeds on and off the field.

Imagine it!!! It would be like the end of 'Return of the Jedi'.

Tee looks to the sideline after winning the national championship, and the ghosts of Aaron Lynch, Omar Hunter, Deontay Greenberry, and Ronald Darby all smile and nod approvingly.

You know I was thinking the same thing. Could be a lot like Rudy but a better story.

Don't think it'll happen. Ever...

Sigh.

HE DIDNT GO TO CLASS. HE DIDN'T DO THE WORK. HE DIDN'T HAVE A HIGH ENOUGH ACT SCORE. stop believing things that can't, and SHOULD NOT happen. I don't care if hes the best player ever, he's not a good fit for Notre Dame.

I have never heard of any of these people you refer to...

I would love to try to get him back, even if it didn't work again. Tee is a great football player and our DB recruiting is not going well. If he does the work to get back, then I will welcome him with open arms.

I still find it comical how everybody was all "RKG" and "Tee is a great person" and one simple mess up that sends him packing gets half the site hating on them. If he came back, you would all root for him ya bunch of bandwagoners...

Agree. If we did let him back, he wouldn't be the first or last person to have a tough time adjusting to ND.

The kid didn't show up to class at all. I'm sorry I just don't see how he could change so significantly in his time away that would make him be a positive contribution to this team

It's not my place to judge him or why things happened the way it did. However if he does the work hell yes I'd let him back, I guess some of you guys don't believe in second chances and must never in your lives ever been given one.

It's my understanding that he had to leave because he didn't bring his ACT score up enough. His lack of effort academically was also a problem, though not one that would have necessitated him leaving ND after 6 weeks.

Regarding TT's Clearinghouse concerns, his ACT score would be the only problem there. Tee could easily address that on his own. The bigger hurdles are: (1) getting past ND admissions as a transfer; and (2) convincing Kelly and co. that he'll take his academics seriously this time around.

Still a big mountain to climb. Don't hold your breath.

I believe I was hating on him pretty badly when he left but winning has a funny way of changing attitudes. If he came back and was able to contribute to us having great success I would most definitely forget that he ever "wronged" us. I'm a hypocrite I guess. In the end I just want what's best for ND and our football program whether that means he returns or never steps foot in South Bend again... I just wanna win!!!

I am all for giving a young lad of 18 years a second chance. If he promises Kelly he'll work hard to prove himself and agrees to have his efforts monitored with a tutor, I'm all for it. Afterall, the first big step he apparently has already taken. Swallowing his pride enough to ask ND for a 2nd chance. And for a kid who likely had everything given to him, having to swallow his pride and do that shows some level of maturing as a young man.

How did Tee "wrong" us? He was the first commit in the 2012 class, signed his LOI, and EE'd. He had to leave because he failed to raise his ACT scores sufficiently. He's only culpable to the extent his lack of effort played a direct role in that failure.

I don't understand the anger that's still directed toward him.
