Our DC Bob Diaco does a good job recruiting that area.

Hasn't ND always done well there? Was thinking yesterday if Rutgers could get a shutdown recruiter they would be dangerous. Gator fans were not to happy when we took Tre Bells commits their head might explode if we take Nadir Barnwell as well.

Once we got Devin Butler I don't think Tre Bell had a commitable offer. Many ND fans thought we would get him.

Uh oh, you're sounding like the type of fan we all bag on (i.e. OSU fan) LOL.

No one knows for sure what happened with Tre. Some say what you said, and some say that ND still wanted him (we are still looking for DBs) but that he really liked FL and couldn't pass it up. Wonder if we'll ever find out what happened.

It would be foolish of me to say I wouldn't take this kid. He's a hell of a player and can fit in 2 spots so he's even more valuable. If he chooses ND, I'll be very happy

If we could get 2 of: Ogundeko, Muhammad, and Sherit I would be a very very happy camper.

From the video it seems like the kid is all Irish.

1. he lights up when talking ND
2. ND was his favorite visit
3. Relationship with Ishaq Williams Dad...

Hell yes take him. Let him bulk up to a DE.

Let's say he takes the place of a possible 5th year guy... Has anyone done a breakdown of possibly 5th years as compared to recruiting numbers this year?

Huh. Three days ago (about the same time that video was shot, I think) Wiltfong interviewed Ebenezer and said he had the feeling that Ebenezer would pick UF, in part because he enjoyed his visit to Florida more. Ebenezer said explicitly that he enjoyed his visit to Florida more; direct quote that contradicts what he said in that video about the visit to ND standing out. Strange.

One possible point of agreement between the Wiltfong piece and that video: in the Wiltfong piece, Ebenezer said that part of what he liked about the school he had chosen was that that school had people from New York that he can get along with. Could be referring to Ishaq. But could also be referring to Syracuse (but probably not, because he also liked the opportunity to make it to the NFL provided by that school). Or maybe even UF (Dominique Easley is from Staten Island ...)

Very bizarre overall. Not sure how to reconcile Wiltfong's piece with that video. Ebenezer may be trying to keep us guessing.

There are 8 players with eligibility remaining for a potential 5Y in 2013: Wood, J. Golic, Watt, Z. Martin, Stockton, Calabrese, Fox, and Tausch. Conventional wisdom says we could bring back as few as 3 or as many as 6.

None of those guys plays ROLB or DE, so it's unlikely that Ogundeko would directly displace a 5Y from consideration.

haha you pry should have put that in italics...that has been discussed numerous times in various threads. sorry I can't point you to those threads as I can't recall which ones they were discussed in if you were asking it in all seriousness.

EDIT:................right on cue ^^there's Whiskey ;)

The day we turn away a man named Ebenezer is the day I find a new team to become a fan of. Ebeneze Ogundeko is one of the best names I've ever heard.

I was thinking the same thing, and Wilfong's interview came after the video. The interview carries more weight to me, direct quote vs. impression of his face lighting up.

Still hope we get him though.

CIerre & Martin = 5th year offer but NFL bound with a good year

Carlo, Dan & CHris = gets 5th yr offer

Jake & Tyler = 5th year transfer to Kansas

Tausch = depends on this years performance IMO

Too early to say that about anyone other than Watt, Wood, and Martin. Fox and Calabrese aren't exactly high quality ILBs and could be replaced by our awesome incoming class. There's probably no way Golic comes back and I assume Wood will go pro. Martin and Watt could also be pros if they improve just a bit.

I haven't been able to get a read on this kid from what I've read, but after watching that video I feel a lot more confident.

I can't watch the video right now but I assumed this ship sailed down south to Florida awhile ago. Nice hearing all the optimism.

If he chooses ND I will be very happy. If he doesn't choose ND I won't be surprised because I wasn't expecting it.

I agree with Bery on this, he would be nice for ND to get hime but fully expect him to go UF.

Don't we get first dibs on the #1 kid in New York these days?

Ebenezer said explicitly that he enjoyed his visit to Florida more; direct quote that contradicts what he said in that video about the visit to ND standing out. Strange. . . . Not sure how to reconcile Wiltfong's piece with that video. Ebenezer may be trying to keep us guessing.

Perhaps he thinks Florida was the most fun (party in Gainsville), but ND stuck out the most for other reasons (he mentioned peacefulness, faciliites, etc.). That would seem pretty fair.

If that was the only thing I'd seen I'd guess ND (he seems like he has thought through our defensive scheme pretty thoroughly), but I think he likes all three schools legitimately.

I can't watch the video right now but I assumed this ship sailed down south to Florida awhile ago. Nice hearing all the optimism.

It sounds like he is the kind of kid that would have committed on every visist (I'm the same way). The time off was a good choice.

I guess its assumed that ND would take him? (Question of spots, no knock on his game)

The only thing I noticed was his grin when asked about Notre Dame.

I'm no professional poker player, but I believe that was a tell.

See, I tend to over-think the tells and actually didn't like that he claimed ND his stand out visit. I assume that if one wanted to keep their decision close to the vest they wouldn't do such a thing. I start thinking "ok, he didn't want to say his leader (UF), so he just said ND, not to give it away." Like I said, probably over-thinking.

What stood out to me was that he started his discussion of Florida with "it's a good school, its a place a lot of people want to go to". It seemed to me like he was almost distancing himself from Florida while being complimentary about it.

Add that to the fact that he's asked Ishaq about the work he'd have to do to convert into our system...

I've talked myself into being optimistic on this one!

Curious to hear Allgator's take on this/what the Florida boards are saying after the weekend. Anyone have any insight?

LOL. If we are going to over-analyze, I'd say that he wasn't smiling because they said ND, he was smiling because the interviewer said, "A lot of people think you are going to pick ND." It seemed like a natural reason to smile, not so much a tell in either direction.

To be honest, when I watched the video I thought, "he's coming to ND."

I still think FLorida makes the most sense based on what he says he wants. Then again, most kids say "I want academics, faith, and a family atmosphere" and then chose Clemson or something. Maybe he'll be the rare kid that makes the football only ND decision. If that was going to happen, I guess it would happen in NY where football is not king and Penn State and ND seem to get honorary "local school" status.

I for one would not be disappointed if he chose to get a Notre Dame education. He would be an asset to the University. Good luck with your decision young man.

For one? There are 5 pages of people posting that they would love to have him jump aboard, even if they think he is going to chose Florida (based on his failure to say things most ND kids say before committing).

EDIT: no doubt some people would rather have other players, but that is almost always the case.
