Smith, Griffin and the football video staff, as part of the violation report, were sent letters reminding them that the compliance office should be consulted before any videos are shown to recruits. Should an athletic director have known better?

Ohio State's Urban Meyer, AD Gene Smith admit 'secondary' NCAA violations; school reports 46 violations in all sports since last June. Most of them appeared to be pretty trivial. The one that seemed to be the most alarming was the video that the AD and Archie Griffin made for Ezekiel Elliott.

Excerpt from the article relating to Ezekiel's video

This is utter B.S. Clearly Gene Smith and Archie Griffin made the video to help Terrelle Pryor's mom and sister have heat during the winter months.

The secondary violation has become a recruiting tool.

Step 1 - Knowingly ignore certain rules to gain competitive edge
Step 2 - Report secondary violation
Step 3 - Wait for NCAA to compliment you on reporting secondary violation
Step 4 - Go back to Step 1

46 violations.... they might be "trivial" but 46 minor violations says a lot about the program. Lack of respect for the rules... What is the point of having these rules if there is no punishment. Sure if a team violates one of them, warn them and they better not do it again, but 46 violations... WTF?!?!

NCAA is worthless, they allow the SEC to cheat, they are scared to hand out any punishments for anything... lol, 46 violations. For everyone that works, try having 46 minor violations at your workplace and lets see how many of us still have that job.

Nothing wrong with having a beer. But have 46 beers and just about everyone will say you have a problem.

Technically speaking, I'm not supposed to access the internet for non-work related items while on company time. I easily beat 46 minor violations in each of the days leading-up to NLOI day; on NLOI day itself I probably was 5 times the 46 minor violations. Should have just taken the day off I guess.

Now that I think of it, I may be in sh1t. I'm going to take a page out of the OSU manual and spin this with my boss. "Yes, I'm saying that my reporting 2,500 violations of the company technology policy is a GOOD thing; they were all only minor violations, not like I was looking at porn or embezzling funds"

Are we still recruiting him? I know he is committed but thought I read somewhere we are still recruiting him and keeping in contact with him.

This one hurts, I think if Green wasn't in the picture we had him. He seems to have gotten close to OSU commits and likes OSU more than when he committed

Jason Sapp on ND's current involvement with Ezekiel Elliott
"Remaining in contact to see if there's an opening to get him back on campus for another visit. Irish were close first time around.”

this one is not over even though i do believe it is.

IF

We have a good season, we have a good chance.

Or

IF

OSU gets blown out of the water from all of their big rivals, we got a chance.

We always got a chance.

Even if you're a glass half empty guy: there's still room for more wine!

You Killz me.

He looked like a guy we could slow play a few months ago. Seemed really interested in ND, comes from a great academic school in STL, and we had Bryant, Green, and Isaac giving us heavy looks.

Damnit.

I think the he may have taken the MVP over Isaac for one reason, Isaac is huge. On 247, Simmons said that he doesn't see Isaac playing in the backfield at the college level after seeing him at the camp today. Mentioned that Elliot is the complete package.

Quick thoughts on Illinois Nike Camp

Does he see Isaac as lb then?

He didn't really specify but that would be my guess. I don't really know how good his hands are but maybe a TE of sorts too. He's going to do a more in-depth write up a little later.

Simmons full story portion for Elliot and Issac

7. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, John Burroughs School (Mo.) – ‘Complete’ is a good adjective to describe Elliott. He really eats up ground in a hurry and can make decisive cuts at full speed. Elliott catches the ball really well out of the backfield and he was as effective as anybody in pass blocking. There really didn’t seem to be many holes in Elliott’s game and the Ohio State commit looks like a candidate for a rankings bump. His performance on the day won him the running back MVP award and an invite to The Opening.

3. Ty Isaac, RB, Joliet Catholic – It’s hard to know what to make of Isaac. The USC commit is massive. Listed at 6-2, 215 in the 247Sports database, 6-3, 230 isn’t out of the question. At that size, you really don’t expect Isaac to have the ability to be adept at running back-specific movements but he is.
Isaac can catch the ball extremely well, he’s great at putting his foot in the ground and making decisive cuts and he actually was one of the top performers in the open-field drill, a drill tailor-made for smaller backs. Isaac is in the same boat as Derrick Henry in the 2013 class as a huge back that may outgrow the position but has freakish ability.
