I think Latham should be a bit cautious because of that -- and he seems to be. That said, the situation is a little different. We changed our stance once we filled up at the position we preferred him for (OL). UF seems to have changed just because LB's Anzalone's preference -- even though they already have four LBs committed. Makes you wonder whether UF's change is really genuine.

that seems to be the exact same thing we are doing with Latham...I am confused

i kind of agree. Notre Dame with Latham changed because his original position was full and if I remember correctly, it took awhile before Notre Dame decided to target Latham for DL. Florida has been full at LB, recruited Alex for HB/FB.. .then heard he wanted to play LB, and then told him they were recruiting him at LB. It is different, but I dont know where we stand with Latham, so it might not make a difference, but we all know were Alex seems to stand as of last week and why this Florida move is such a big deal.

My point is there was a legitimate and sensible reason for our shift with Latham other than just telling him what he wanted to hear -- we filled up at OL, so started recruiting him for DL (his preferred position, but our secondary position for him). UF, on the other hand, started recruiting Anzalone for LB after he made clear that's the position he wanted to play but only after they'd already filled up at that position; thus, it at least raises the question of whether what UF is telling him is what they really intend to do with him. In other words, while ND shifted Latham from a full position (OL) to a position with openings (DL), UF did just the opposite with Anzalone, shifting him from a not-full position (RB) to a full position (LB).

It is really turning out to be a great birthday for me, already. Maybe I ought to buy a round for everyone who comes somewhere?

After all, now it turns out I was born before 1685.

Wait, it's your birthday today??? if so we share a B Day...

Happy birthday buddy! Mine isn't today, but on June 14, when the beef crust of this class meets under the dome. But that's okay, we can celebrate our birthday on different days together. I went back and edited again, added "already" to clear that up. I have had good "birthday" news three days in a row. Like that.

This is great news. This is exactly the kind of "perfect storm" that will likely (IMO) lead to a commitment from this young man. I'm so very pleased with the way things are trending atm.

Was surprised this weekend when Alex Anzalone didn't mention #Florida as a top team until I asked about them. But still #Gators team to beat

“Florida, Notre Dame, Stanford, Penn State, Ohio State and USC, that’s pretty much who I’m focusing on,” he related.
Anzalone visited South Bend for one of Notre Dame’s Junior Days and hopes to return this summer.
“I think I want to go when the rest of the commits go,” he said. “I think in late June, just to see how they are and how I interact with them.”

I think this is a very good idea young man.

Interesting to note that Alex appears to still have OSU hanging around. I'm little surprised to see that after the decommit, although I don't recall reading that he was 100% shutting them out either (correct me if I'm wrong). I just thought they would be out of the picture at this point.

Yeah but I wouldn't doubt that he just named the rankings of the teams. He's set Ohio State being a huge amount, and that gives Notre Dame all the room it needs to make the impression that it wants.
