Interesting to note that Alex appears to still have OSU hanging around. I'm little surprised to see that after the decommit, although I don't recall reading that he was 100% shutting them out either (correct me if I'm wrong). I just thought they would be out of the picture at this point.

Why? He seemed to be very set on OSU before he had a "bad experience" (a photo) with a booster (not a member of the OSU staff or Administration). The school booted the booster after "learning" the details. That could have happened anywhere, even ND.

His father, I believe, noted when Alex decommitted that there were other reasons but I never read where he revealed them. Not defending OSU or Meyer here, just noting that an 18 year old liked something a lot then changed his mind quickly. Given time (and a don't quit Meyer attitude) minds can change back to the original choice.

Because of what was written about how the family felt he was put in that position by OSU with the questionable booster, implying they didn't care for the apparent lack of control in the situation and regard for their child. For me personally, that would be a significant issue to overcome and reconsider if I was in that situation, that's all. I tihnk you're right in that it coulde be just a result of time passing and the young man having a little more time to collect his thoughts on his quick decision.

As for Darby (from the post after BGIF's), IMO that was simply window dressing to keep ND on the "short list".

Anybody know why Darby decommitted? PM would be rewarded.

Anzalone should keep everyone around to be honest. You just never know.

Unless people are hoarding information he went to FSU for the track opportunity and seems serious about the olympics.

Add Alabama to the list of schools he is considering.

Could visit OSU June 15th, day after visiting ND.

May decide before the end of summer. If he doesn't he will take OVs to USC and Stanford.

See how fluid this process is?

By the way, he has gained 67 pounds since last year. His daily routine is insane.

I thought there was more to it with the 'sideline incident'.

The 'conspirator' in me thought it'd be more 'drama' than that.

If it's something other then what I posted in the above post then I am completely in the dark. Not being able to take visits? They stopped recruiting him hard? Took a picture with a pedofile? IDK

In a couple of articles, including the one quoted above, he mentioned he felt pressured, and wasn't quite at ease with his decision from the get-go.

Wow! So do you know what his current weight is up to now? I imagine the 220 listed is old?

From 165 to 232. His mom wakes him up every morning at 4:30 and makes him eat 6 eggs, 2 bowls of oatmeal, pineapple, and vitamins and then he goes back to sleep until 7 am. Three more meals a day consisting of either chicken or salmon with protein shakes and bars in between.

Does the alcohol even affect him with all that food in his stomach

When you think about it....if that was my kid I would gladly wake up early and slave for my kid to help him get scholarships from top tier schools.

If you look at it in this perspective: her waking up and feeding him and making him meals could potentially save herself $150,000 to $200,000....should he choose ND

Or we can go with the old cliche, his mother loves him and wants him to succeed.

I don't know, eating that much for an extended period of time would cost a fortune...

That's one he'll of a diet plan! I couldn't eat anything at 4:30 in the morning but a cold drink and a cigarette would be just what the doctor ordered!

I wonder where he got that advice. I've known a number of body builders and weight lifters and they always said that interrupting your sleep for food, even if very healthy, was one of the worst things you could do.

John Schaeffer. He has trained former olympians, including Apolo Ohno and has mentored LeSean McCoy.

Well, I'll definitely defer to that authority. Its just sounds wierd. Contrary to everything I've ever learned and heard. But then, I never was that level of athlete.

I'm sure the trainer has plenty of experience, but I understand your concern. For one thing, a physician would not recommend anyone to lie down after a large meal (should wait 2-3 hours), as it can cause chronic health issues, including GERD and an increased (albeit slight) risk of esophageal cancer.

I'm not so sure the benefits outweigh the risks given that he already has plenty of college offers (including one to ND!)

He probably came on to the scene offer wise because coaches heard of how he was packing on the weight. Don't think anyone was going to offer him when he was 165...

His coach was quoted as saying he thought he'd be a D3, maybe D2 safety before he started putting on the pounds and picking up speed

what a difference a lil weight gain can do for you. From D3-D2 to top level D1 prospect.

I put on 55 lbs through high school and the only thing I got out of it was bigger clothes and tighter squeezes in the roller coasters at Cedar Point.

This kid has come a long way in such a short period of time. Pretty incredible gains for sure. Would love to add him to our team.
