They had to have made this story up just to get hits, because no sane Notre Dame fan would ever jump of the wagon to join a Michigan one. It's like jumping out of a lifeboat and onto the Titanic.

hahaha i literally laughed out loud.

I've been to Ann Arbor for more than one game as I only live a half hour from Ann Arbor... I couldn't be further from pledging allegiance to that team.

This is a good breakdown of 90% of their fans...

Honestly, the guy was only a Notre Dame "fan" in the first place. He could probably tell you that Brian Kelly is the coach and we had some freshman dude win some games at the end of the year. And ND beat USC last year. He probably couldn't even tell you who Ishaq Williams is, couldnt tell you what number Deion Walker is, or even give you the name of a single assistant coach. I'm sorry but if you can change from ND to Michigan, you were never a fan and you know nothing about fanhood. Not worried about the loss of a bandwagon wanna be "fan".

Actually, I don't know Deion Walker's number because he's never played. That should change this year....I hope.

enrico514, Yeah, seems trollish. But for me, living mostly 2000 miles away + away from ND and Bitchagain, I could not care less about that "rivalry." I am apathetic about Midwest rivalries. UTEP vs. the NM Lobos, or NM'SU Aggies...now that was the chit in BBall.

I'm apathetic about all college rivalries. But don't get me started on Miami or USC or anyone vs. UNDduLac. I chose UNDduLac as my favorite when I was a latchkey kid watching TV, solo...totally alone, seemingly forever at about 4 year's old, and all I wanted to watch was NDduLac sports with my granted 20 minutes of TV a week. I loved the magic in their name, and their colors.. Only much later did I find out my father's University was Notre Dame.

Harsh reality set in when ND was about to lose a game and I went nuts almost breaking my arm and screaming, then my poppy sent me to my room. I fumed myself to sleep. I think my father was reading the paper throughout the game, peaking at the TV when I went ballistic.

What were we talking about?

Oh yeah. Any loss destroys my life for a few minutes. I need to redistribute myself before I split an atom.

Actually man, sadly, there are A LOT of bandwagon fans in this day and age. I know a dude that was a 'huge' Irish fan in the late 80's and 90's. Saw him and hung out with him in 2004 - and he was a huge Trogan fan! Sadly, happens all the time.

I call b.s. on this story simply because of the Big Ten comment. Any true ND fan knows the story of ND and the Big 10.

Incidentally, speaking of stepping on to ND's campus, I can't tell you how many USC fans have told me that after visiting ND that they'd send their kids to ND in a heartbeat, some even telling their kids, "You're going to ND". I coach youth sports here in the Los Angeles area, always with a ND hat, and so I run into SC fans all the time (around Catholic League youth sports, the SC fans are always cool people - away from CYO - not so much a lot of the time).

And finally, a little off-topic, yesterday was Holy Thursday and at my Catholic school we got out of 12. We did some activities in the morning, and then had a couple of hours to kill. Instead of doing work, I gave my 6th graders the option of watching a movie or doing work (I had no intention of doing work - but it makes them love you more when you eschew work for play LOL), and when they yelled for a movie, I showed them Rudy. LOTS more cussing than I remembered, and I could have gotten in serious trouble if my principal walked in, but the kids LOVED it. They were mesmerized. I always talk ND (the ND-SC score still is permanently written on the whiteboard), but this made it a bit more tangible for them.

Anyway, bottom line - that 'fan' is a loser - not for picking Michigan, but switching allegiances on a whim.

Maybe a fun but true story...my oldest pup nephew and Godson is a Truman or something or other scholar (I should be a better Godfather...) with a full ride to any University in the country. He chose to stay in Texas. He and his younger brothers beat up concrete when Notre Dame du Lac loses a game in any sport, and can outwit the BGiiF, SirDhishands while in Palmolive, out-old the Old Man Mike, out Yank the Nanker and over-Trot Bo. They could probably defend themselves and win a lawsuit against NDinLA.

They still can't drive a car.

Me too buddy. This board knows it too. If the season starts bad, I'm running cable out to the garage so I can punch my heavy bag during the game.

-or-

I get banned from IE.

I hate to see what you will do to the bag Brother. I avoid my Godsons after each loss. All they know after a loss, and what I email them, is I am doing private duty overseas. That way, they won't hit me. My Godsons snd nephews are large.

"My first little nudge to the other side was the fact that as a fan, I feel like Notre Dame keeps snubbing the Big 10, which in my opinion, is the best conference in college football. "-freep moron

clearly this individual has no brains...

This is not too farfetched.

The Big 10 is probably the second best conference in the country in terms of the sheer number of solid programs in the conference. Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa, and Michigan (historically) are all solid schools. Even Northwestern is on their way up. Every once in a while, you'll see a solid season from Illinois, Michigan State, or Purdue. The lone dud in the conference is Indiana.

Someone (I think it was you doomer) said they don't put much stock into the midwest rivalries, I feel the same way about ND and USC. I can't stand USC, but because their fan base is primarily in CA, I can't care a whole lot about USC. But Michigan really grinds my gears. The Big 10 does have some solid schools in it, but given the performance of Michigan in the last 3 or 4 seasons, they don't belong there. Their schedule is pretty weak.

I hate UM fans. I hate UM. I hate Michigan. My favorite shirt says ANN ARBOR IS A WH*RE

Nice.

So tell me more about this Ann chick... ;)

lol.

hahaha! She gets around. That's what I hear. If I knew I wouldn't get banned from IE I'd show you the picture. I actually get random strangers asking if they can take a picture of that shirt when I wear it (Come to think of it, it's mostly random guys, maybe they are just checking out my rack????). Check out the website SportsCrack Store they've got some good shirts. I got my dad the Irish tailgate shirt.

Living in Michigan and being a HUGE ND fan, at least for me, makes it even more enjoyable. The pressure/heat isn't because I root for an inferior team, its because I root for a superior team. We didn't want him as part of our family anyway.

If it helps I converted my wife from a Michigan fan to a Notre Dame fan. That should help offset this guys terrible decision.

This guy will feel like a huge moron after Kelly wins a title here in the next ten years. Just kidding.

...My God. Nearly jinxed the whole program there.

And what kind of bull**** reasoning is that? From what I've gathered, he's "converting" due to...

1. He went to the Big House and loved it.
2. Michigan's closer to home???

This guy was never a Notre Dame fan. He obviously has minimal interest in football and probably liked the ND logo. Now he will go to the Big House as a family outing and enjoy the surroundings. No harm in that. But he is no fan.

I love the Ann Arbor is a whore also...

this guy was never a true fan anyway or this wouldn't have happened... there ain't no such thing as halfway crooks... holds true for fans also, especially in college football... this guy was a half way fan, thereby, no fan at all...

have fun with the whore.

I was in Ann Arbor and I got crabs. Never again.

This guy should have been a Michigan fan the whole time it seems. ND snubbed the Big Ten 12 years ago and he's always lived near Ann Arbor. Why was he an ND fan in the first place?

DFP is to journalism as a flea is to a dog

DFP is to journalism as a flea is to a dog

I don't post very often as I never have inside information to offer like some of the more well-connected among you, and for me to add a "we really need to get this guy" comment to all the others seems superfluous. But this thread resonates with me. The Detroit Free Press is a rag. I cancelled my subscription years ago, not only because if I want real news, I find it on the Internet, but also because of their maniacal scUM bias. For a Michigander, one can take only so much media-blitzing of the Victors, the Big House, the sainted Bo Schembechler, the cuteness of Tate Forcier, the Rich Rod debacle, the Desmond Howard Heisman pose, the Fab Five, etc., etc., and now the dawn of Brady Hoke era. But I guess that's what passes for journalism these days.

It's simple. After world peace and an end to poverty, disease, and government malfeasance, I want Notre Dame to annihilate Michigan come Sep 10.
