He is for sure the back I would love to get this cycle but I dont think he is a "must get". He would be a great get but at RB if we blanked this cycle it wouldnt kill us because of our current depth. (next season we would have to land a stud, if we dont land one this time)

Exactly...he reminds me of former Va Tech and Detroit Lions RB Kevin Jones.

GB, how do you like our chances with Ryan?

I understand what everyone is saying about us being deep at the position, and Amir certainly did nothing but help us out as well, but I think this kid is one of those game changers that makes and 8-5 season without a 10-3 season with. Despite the record this team is so much better than it was prior to Kelly comming here but we need game breakers with the type of schedule we play.

And I'll add that while we may seem to have some depth right now, Wood may be gone after 2012, Riddick certainly will be, Amir has been injury-prone in his short career and really he, like Russell, Mahone and even Atkinson, is an unknown quantity. I definitely think we should recruit one RB this year just to be on the safe side, and Green would be absolutely perfect for us and our system.

I am a little more pessimistic. I think it is prob 60/40 FSU because of the family influence.

Just curious, why wouldn't we be there? Recruitniks is there anything to this?

ND had been to his school several times thus far, very recently in fact. This is going to be a long process. Missing a spring games is meaningless. He's visiting ND this summer.

Saying we weren't at his spring game seems a little odd to me. Is the guy reporting a Florida beat writer or something? The real story to me is Ryan Green not in attendance at the Notre Dame spring game, it's just kind of funny to me that the kids are elevated above the school. To me no matter what any one kid brings to the table will not guarantee us victories unless they buy in and play as a team for each other. This is not directed at Ryan but more to the reporters who cover the kids. Not that I don't enjoy info because I'm a recruitnik freak but I just think its gotten way out of hand.

But yet you're backing up a fan when he publicly questions a real reporter's info? THAT'S out of hand.

As for Ryan, him not being at our spring game wasn't news b/c he only comes up with his buddy's family. But I did raise my eyebrows when we weren't at his game when FSU was there. The problem is that the reporter stopped there, and didn't mention if/when WAS at his school. ND not being a local school means we can't be there all the time, unlike FSU and FL. And Ryan knows that. It's only a story if ND hadn't been there all spring, which we all know isn't true...

That's what I'm getting at with maybe he was a local yokel. I just saying recruiting has changed a lot since I was a kid but in the end these kids gotta make the best decisions for themselves and their families.

He is a UF 247 guy. Just stirring the pot I am sure. I only posted it because this is what we are going to have to deal with in this recruitment. ND can't be at everything the way UF or FSU can.

It's definetly relevant, but it makes a lot more sense to me knowing who he covers.
