Pretty much the same except everywhere I have played it the table is short like the height of a coffee table and length of like 3/4s a pong table. You have to start sitting on chairs, turned over old speakers or other things can work better, and you have to shoot underhand and it reaches forehead level. Seems to take quicker reactions than the larger game you describe. Also less rules:
- 1 point when you nick the table and it isn't caught, loser drinks
- 2 points when you drink the cup, loser finishes the drink
- if it lands on the table and doesn't fall off, everyone drinks
- play to 21, finish your drink and other teams when you lose
- couple other minor things like getting the die back when both make it but that's the basic of it.

So you play on a shorter table and don't have to throw as high. I hear you that the 'lower' shot may require quicker reactions, but we've always played 'over 6 feet'. It's fun to look up like a fly ball, have it smack in front of you and you scrammble to catch it before it drops to the ground, but I can see where your rule is just as fun.
Underhand - yes. Have to. Forgot to add that.
We play to 7 (buzz) or 5 (bizz) if people are waiting. Your drinking rules/scoring is just way different, but the fundamentals of the game are similar.
How fun do you think the game is? Unless there are girls around, we literally play nothing else.

It's our most fun game to play for example at 3:00 PM on a Friday just the dudes and not wanting to get too drunk. Girls do find it boring, likely cause they are awful, than most other drinking games so we only pre-game with it not at a party.
Land mines is the best if you want to get really drunk but need a little motivation. No winner/loser or points etc. start with empty table and a can of beer and empty cup. You wager how much beer you can drink in the time it takes to spin a quarter and pick it up. Pour only a little in your cup if you don't want to drink that much, fill almost the whole cup if you want to drink a lot. But if you don't finish in the time it takes the quarter to spin, you go again.
Once you finish your can of beer, you can stop it on someone spinning the quarter, obviously forcing them to drink again, but also the can stays there as a "land mine". Now all their turns get harder since the quarter could nick the cans around them.
Everyone is usually drunk enough by the time the table is pretty much full of cans.

Yeah, having girls there makes it tough. There are like 2 girls that can competitively play with the men that I know. I'm proudly dating one of them. They like the game, but they quickly realize that whatever team they are on has no chance unless the other team also has a girl.

I'm surprised Beer Darts hasn't gotten any traction. I am the only person who has suggested it.
Everyone sits in a circle in the yard in chairs with a can of beer in front of them. The ideal number is probably 7-10 people for the sake of participation.
There are two metal tipped darts in circulation. You throw them at each other's cans of beer. The rules are pretty simple.
1. You are not allowed to throw at the person next to you.
2. You drink your beer down to the puncture the dart leaves in the can.(prevent spilling)
3. If someone hits the top side of your can, you drink the entire beer.
4. If your can is hit three times and you still have beer left, you finish it.
5. Have fun!
It's not uncommon for people to be hit by darts in the legs or feet. It does not hurt too bad. Especially if you got a good buzz going.

Anybody partial to / familiar with Murderball/Deathball/Speedball?
Two teams of two, one team each on opposite ends of any standard Beer Pong table.
Everyone has a beer in a can. Bottles are legal, but only if EVERYONE plays with a bottle.
The object is to finish your beers first.
You place your beer in front of you on the corner of the table.
When it is your turn to throw the ball, your partner prepares to drink.
So, let's say I'm throwing first. My partner, who is next to me, places his hand near his can, BUT NOT ON IT, which rests on the corner of the table.
I will throw a standard pong ball at the enemy team's cans. I can target either can. It does not matter for my partner's drinking purposes. If the ball hits one of their cans, my partner begins to chug his beer on contact. He continues to chug until the enemy team retrieves the ball and delivers it back to their side of the table, between their own cans, and yells "STOP!"
If I throw and the ball does not hit a can, my partner does not drink.
The throws alternate. So I would throw, and then someone on the other team, and then my teammate, and then the second person on the other team.
Basically, you want to get a good ricochet off of the enemy teams can, that way the ball bounces in a crazy fashion and/or gets far from the table, allowing your partner more time to drink.
It's fantastic for getting hammered QUICKLY, as you finish a full beer in a matter of minutes, and if you keep winning, you stay on the table to finish more beers in rapid fashion. One year in Gatlinburg, I was up with three friends after everyone went to bed the last night at the cabin. We had three cases of beer to finish, and only 5 hours till checkout...
Between the four of us playing Murderball, we finished all three cases in an hour and a half. I was drunk and then hungover for the drive home.
It's funny to watch teams try to communicate a good relay when they are on defense and the ball has taken a wild bounce far away from the table. We've seen some fantastic diving, behind-the-back relay throws, and we've seen some heads mashing together at the middle of the table on a soft bounce.
It's amazing.

We have baseball, but it's actually set up to mimic the game of baseball.
Line four cups up in a straight line at each end of the table, two teams of four.
First cup is a single, second a double, third a triple, fourth a home run. You have to throw the ball and make it in a cup for a hit. The opposing team has to catch a miss cleanly before it hits the floor for an "out," otherwise it's a foul ball and the batter gets another throw.
Runners get forced over, but whoever is on base can also stand on the side of the table, and can "steal" a base by starting a miniature game of flip-cup with their side beer. The batter can "bunt" by dropping the ball straight down and starting a miniature game of flip cup.
If someone "bunts" or "steals," the team playing in the field has a designated "catcher" that will partake in the mini game of flip cup. The catcher is at a disadvantage, as baserunners will often start chugging their side beer and trying to flip the cup before the catcher even sees that it's happening. Even if he spots it early, the baserunner/batter still has the advantage of determining the start.
You play nine innings if you want, and must maintain batting order. If the other team calls a proper "batting out of order," the offending team have to all chug a full beer and then they forfeit their half of the inning as batters.

One of my favorite outdoor drinking games to play is a game called Stump. To play, you'll need beer, a hammer, nails, and a stump. Rules are as follows (simplified):
1. Each player hits a nail into the stump directly in front of them. The nail needs to be out of the stump enough so that most of it is remaining, but stuck in far enough that it will be able to stand on its own fine.
2. Once a player claims a nail, the game is then played by one person at a time. The player must flip the hammer with one rotation in the air, and catch the hammer. Immediately, they must then attempt to strike another player's nail and attempt to drive it into the stump. This whole process is to be done in one motion. If there is hesitation to strike after catching the hammer, then the person who tosses the hammer has to drink. If the person who tossed the hammer misses a nail on the strike, then they drink. If the person who tosses the hammer doesn't catch the handle part of hammer, then they drink. However, if the person who tosses the hammer manages to drive any bit of another player's nail into the stump, then that player must then drink.
3. The game is played in turns until all but one nail is completely nailed into the stump. The person who's nail remains is the winner of the game.
I know it sounds dumb, but its cheap and gets you pretty drunk.
