Betances, Miller, Chapman would be an incredible trio.

It would probably be the greatest 7,8,9 of all time. If Miller and Betances are okay with not closing it could work but I don't see Chapman happily taking a setup role.

I really hope they don't move Miller. Chapman only has 1 year of team control left so the 2017 pen would be a nightmare if they moved him.

Just saw this. they basically gave up nothing for him.

Either the Yankees will have the best 7,8,9 in the history of baseball or Miller will be traded.

I don't see Miller or Betances having a problem being setup men as they switched back and forth being closer last year.

Awesome move for the Yankees!

Great pickup from a baseball perspective. Chapman has some questionable character issues. Hope he stays out of the NY media.

Yeah. I thought I heard a blurb yesterday that he is tied up in some domestic violence thing that may lead to suspension when all is said and done. That might be what you are referring to with "character issues". Have no details. Hope it's not the case.

Needed a starter.

Still need a starter.

There aren't really any starters available (that I know of) that would improve our current rotation:

Tanaka
Pineda
Severino
Eovaldi
Nova/CC

If healthy, it's not a bad rotation at all. Certainly could be better but I don't know what else is out there.

I believe he fired his gun several times in his garage while his wife was in the garage.

Resigned Nova for 1 year @ $4 mill.

To me the rotation should look like this on opening day.

1. Tanaka
2. Severino
3. Pineda
4. Eovaldi
5. Sabathia

Long man - Nova

I think Pineda and Eovaldi are interchangeable and Nathan might end up being the more impressive pitcher. Hopefully Pineda can stay healthy and CC has a bounce back year (in more ways than one).

I like the signing because you can never have enough pitching. Maybe he's far enough removed from Tommy John to get back to old form? He could certainly challenge for a spot.

I'm happy with this group. Especially with the bull pen basically owning 8 & 9.. Hell, maybe 7 too.

I mean, technically, but it's not really a signing. He was under team control. All that happened was they agreed on how much he would make on his pre-determined one year contract.

My guess is the same as above. He'll start in the bullpen as the long man, but as soon as an injury happens (like it always does) he'll move into the rotation and get to fight for a starter spot.

Love selling away Chapman, Miller, and Beltran. Hope they can sell others before 4PM.

Our farm system is supposedly top 3 in all of baseball now.

Austin and Judge go back to back in their first major league at bats - first time that's ever happened. So cool.

Don't follow baseball as much as I used to. But is this Sanchez kid the real deal?

Yankees rookie Gary Sanchez has already managed to make home run history - CBSSports.com

Yankees rookie Gary Sanchez has already managed to make home run history. He hit his 10th of the season against the Orioles on Friday night
by Dayn Perry

On Friday night in the Bronx, the Yankees meted out a pants-down paddling at the expense of the Orioles (NYY 14, BAL 4). By the time Yanks rookie phenom Gary Sanchez came up in the fifth, the outcome was pretty much already decided, but Boomcakes still had work to do ...

Yes, young Mr. Sanchez in just his 22nd major-league game and 86 major-league plate appearance has tallied his 10th home run. He's now batting .403/.459/.883 on the season. By doing this in such a brief span of time, Sanchez is, as you would expect, in elite company. For instance ...
Sanchez is now tied with George Scott and Trevor Story for the most home runs through the first 22 games of his career (source: @Kazuto_Yamazaki).
He's now the record holder for most home runs in a calendar month by a Yankee rookie. He's set that record in just 19 games in August. (source: @YankeesPR).
He's first rookie to tally at least 10 homers and 20 RBI in his first 20 games of a given season since the RBI first became an official stat in 1920 (source: @ESPNStatsInfo). Note: Sanchez played two games with the Yankees in 2015.
Sanchez is also the first player in MLB history to rack up 10 homers and 30 hits in his first 22 games (source: @ktsharp).
Since being recalled on Aug. 23, Sanchez has hit 23 balls that left the bat at 100 mph or greater. Next highest total on the Yankees is Brett Gardner with 10 (source: @SethDRothman).
In a striking bit of symmetry, Sanchez also had 10 home runs for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season, but that was over a span of 313 plate appearances and 71 games. Obviously, Sanchez isn't going to be able to maintain this pace (as Yankees of yore Shane Spencer and Kevin Maas would hasten to remind us), but he's long been regarded as a potential impact hitter. Suffice it to say, the 23-year-old Sanchez has made quite an impact thus far.

The Yanks could not have handled the trade deadline any better, other than by perhaps trading McCann.

The young players are hitting. We are winning. We got more young assets in trades with players who aren't playing that well. (Beltran is 0 for his last 32).

Sanchez Hits Another, #11

Sanchez Hits Another, #11

By Charles O'Brien

MLB Recap - Baltimore Orioles at New York Yankees - Aug 27, 2016 - CBSSports.com

NEW YORK (AP) With each day, with every swing, this run by Gary Sanchez becomes even more remarkable.

The New York Yankees rookie hit a home run for the third straight game Saturday, highlighting a 13-5 rout over the Baltimore Orioles.

Sanchez hit a drive that bounced off the top of the right-center field wall and over. He reached 11 career home runs faster than anyone in major league history - 23 games, including two hitless games last year.

''It's fun to watch,'' teammate Starlin Castro said. ''Every time he goes to the plate, we feel like something is going to happen in a good way.''

The 11 homers are the most in a month by a rookie since Milwaukee's Ryan Braun hit 11 in July 2007, and are the most by an American League rookie since Oakland's Mark McGwire hit 15 in May 1987.

After the switch-hitting catcher connected, the crowd of 38,843 emphatically chanted his name. Mark Teixeira stepped out of the batter's box, pausing the game and allowing the 23-year-old to tip his batting helmet to the fans from the top of the dugout steps.

Sanchez said it was his first curtain call.

''It's very exciting to hear your name being called out by the fans. It's a very exciting moment,'' he said through a translator.

Sanchez is now hitting .400 with 21 RBIs in 21 games this year

As much as i dislike the yankees it's good for them to have some young exciting talent. They still need to shed a few bad contracts but Sanchez looks to be a star. But like all players this hot streak will come to an end and should be interesting to see how he handles struggling a the plate.
