Eovaldi won his 14th but wasn't sharp. Through 5 innings he was OK giving up 2 runs on 5 hits, 2BB, and 7K but in the 6th he gave up a single, double, and single without getting an out. All 3 runners scored for an a game ERA of 9.0 but the Yankees had all the runs they needed by the 3rd.

With a 4-4 day, Drew brought his BA to .201. I believe that's the first time this season he's been over .200.

Drew was hot tonight, 1-3, up to a hefty .205.

He had 1 of only 5 NY hits off Pocello who pitched well striking out 13 but was betrayed by his first baseman's error which led to 2 unearned runs and the margin of victory. Pineda got his 10th win as NY pitchers combined for 12 Ks. 25 strikeouts total in the game.

Jays and Texas both win so AL East and WC races are status quo.

Even though it's just 1 1/2 games, I think it's going to be tough to overcome the Blue Jays.

Who would you want to start a potential 1 game playoff? In order of preference I'd go with:

Severino (you know he probably isn't giving up more than 3 runs)
Eovaldi (we seem to win every game he pitches)
Tanaka
Pineda
Nova

That's actually shaping up to a pretty good playoff rotation.

Agreed they seem to get the runs their pitchers need. Their run production seems more consistent. Yanks seem to have roller coaster offense, feast or famine.

Looks good for how their pitching right now. Will Girardi put the the pressure of Game 1 on the rookie?

I think you have to start Tanaka ina one game playoff.

I think you go with the guy you feel can get you to the end of the 5th inning with the least damage. The bullpen can shut anyone down for 4 innings. Severino's issue has been pitch count. Because you are only looking for 5 shutout innings I think he is the guy. Eovaldi also tends to pitch very well in the first 5 innings before giving up a couple. Tanaka tends to give up 2 early runs.

I like Severino the most on the staff. i think he has the "balls" to pitch in big spots. But, I would go with the proven commodity and the supposed Ace of my staff in a one game playoff. Thus, Tanaka would be my choice.

ARod #23 on the All Time Hit List at 3050 needs 3 hits to catch Carew, 5 to match Henderson, and 10 to tie Biggio.

Winfield is out of reach this season at 3110.

Yanks overcame a 4-1 deficit with long balls.

NY 58-2 when leading after 6.

Tanaka on the mound tonight. C.C. Wednesday.

Eovaldi has inflamed elbow and won't pitch for two weeks.

With a HR yesterday following a HR and single the day before ARod has passed Carew for 22nd place on All-Time Hit List.

He's one hit behind Henderson and six behind Biggio.

Yankees wasted a fine effort by Tanaka, 8 innings, 1 run, 6 hits, 1BB, 10Ks, in a 2-1 loss. Jays won to regain 1-1/2 game lead.

ARod had two of NY's 6 hits, a HR and a single. The two hits moved him past Henderson on the All-Time Hit List. He trails Biggio by 4 hits.

The HR gave him 30 for the year. The 15th time he's achieved that tying him with Aaron.

Boston beat up the Jays 10-4 but the Yankees only got 4 hits off Orioles pitching and lost by 2 unearned runs off a Drew error.
