NY beat the O's again while everyone else in AL East was losing. 5-1/2 game lead over Jays.

NY has 3 game win streak. 8-2 in last 10 games while no one else in AL is over .500 in that span.

ARod passed Lou Brock to take over 23rd place on the All-Time list.

With 37 more hits, he'll pass Carew, Henderson, and Biggio to take over 20th place.

It would take an additional 49 hits to catch Winfield.

Catching Biggio islikely with 69 games to play. Winfield's out of reach with ARod's playing schedule.

He could catch Ripken, 74 more hits than Winfield, next year if he could repeat this kind of season.

I'm withholding all my excitement as best I can.. I loathe all this WS hype at mid-season.

Let's hope elbows stay healthy and age doesn't become a late season factor.

Yes still a long way to go. It's not even August yet. But the team is playing real well right now.

NY down 5-0 after 3, rally for 9-5 win on the back of 3 ARod HRs.

Rodriguez hit 452-foot solo homer in the fourth and a 422-foot drive that made it 5-3 in the seventh. His 424-foot homer in the ninth cleared the center field wall.

What is going on with Alex?? The pace he's on is fantastic for a 40 year old. Rest and health? Now, he's done some dumb stuff but I just can't believe the idea that he'd somehow juice again after all this BS is behind him.

If he is using something, and I would not put it past him, it must be good stuff. You know MLB is testing him like crazy.

If he is using something I don't care, as long as the Yankees keep winning.

Main reason he is having such a great season is he is able to stay healthy and fresh being a DH. Doesn't have to play the field and he doesn't even DH everyday.

NY takes Texas 6-2

Bottom third of lineup, #7, 8, and 9 hitters combine for 7 of Yankee hits, 4 of 6 RBIs, 4 of 6 runs scored, and 3 of 4 extra base hits.

Yanks win 7th of last 8 opening up a 7 game lead, their biggest since 7/29/12.

ARod HR was 6th HR hit on his birthday, a MLB record.

He also became 4th player to hit a HR as a teenager and in his 40's joining Cobb, Staub, and Sheffield.

Ha...that's funny. I guess it's never too early to start the count-down. This should be a pretty tight race down the home stretch. Go Yanks!

Preseason, I though NY was supposed to be a basement dweller.

Yesterday, I noticed CBSsports started listing Elimination Numbers. A lot of games left to play.

Perez took the mound in the top of the 2nd and a 5 run cushion. He faced 8 batters without getting an out allowing 6 runs. He successor got 3 outs but not before allowing an additional 5 runs.

End of 1-1/2 NY 11 TX 5

Texas goes down 1,2,3 in the bottom of 2nd.

Top 3rd NY loads the bases with no outs and Young hits a grand slam.

Ny 15 -TX 5.

IF Capuano could have held it together to get the 3rd out, he be pitching in a laugher after giving up a 5 run spot.

Texas pitchers have thrown 107 pitches through 3 innings. That's a game's worth.
