AP

Yankees RH reliever David Aardsma, whose recovery from Tommy John elbow ligament replacement surgery last July is complete, joined the team at Target Field and took injured RH Michael Pineda's uniform No. 35. Aardsma could be activated from the DL this series, but Girardi said he'd have to "pick some spots" since the 30-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors in two years.

Girardi said 1B Mark Teixeira, out with a strained left calf for all but one game since Aug. 27, ran the bases and took ground balls and batting practice at the team's minor league complex in Tampa, Fla., and fared well. Girardi stopped short of confirming Teixeira would return this week at Toronto, however. "The concern is that you rush him and then he has that one play and then you know that he's probably done for the season. So you've got to be sure," the manager said.

Magic Number at 7

Magic Number at 7

Jays shutout the O's 4-0.

Hughes cruised through 6 but gave up a single, walk, and an infield single to load the bases in the 7th. He got two outs and gave the ball to Logan with a 3-1 lead. Logan uncorked a wild pitch to let one run in, gave up a 2 run double to the same batter, than a single before getting the third out. NY had 3 HRs but 2 were solos. Final 5-4 Twins.

Oakland beat Texas by one in 10. TX keeps a 2 edge in the loss column over NY.

Wednesday, 1:10 pm Sabathia (13-6, 3.47) v Deduno (6-5, 4.54)

CC struck out 11 in 8 shutout innings in his last start.

Deduno gave up 7 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 2.1 innings in his last start.

Magic Number is 6

Magic Number is 6

Sabathia won his 14th, 8 innings, 6 hits, 1BB, 10K. Jeter hit streak stopped at 19. Gardner played LF in the bottom of the 9th.

Thursday 7:07 pm, Nova (12-7, 4.94) v Morrow (8-7, 3.28)

Nova has matched his 165 innings pitched last year But ERA is up 35%, hits are up 10%, HRs soared over 100%, BBs are down 5%, and Ks are up sharpley by 50%. He's throwing more strikes and when he doesn't get them out they're hitting the ball further.

Morrow gave up 5 runs on 5 hits and 4 BBs in just 4 innings Saturday but has 3 complete game shutouts in 19 starts.

NY Alone in First

NY Alone in First

Yanks win, Os don't.

NY exploded for 9 runs in the second on 4 HRs. CC wins #15 striking out 7 in 8 innings. Ended up with 197k's. He's hit that number 3 of the last 4 years.

Tex is back and had one of the 4 HRs. Gardner also got a bat as a PH but grounded out.

Jeter was hitless.

Os lost to TB, 5-3. Magic Number is 2.

Tuesday, 7:05 pm NY starts Phelps (4-4, 3.34) instead of Nova (12-8, 5-02) against Lester (9-14, 4.94)

Nova been struggling since coming off the DL. In his last 8 starts Nova is 2-4 with a 7.87 ERA. Phelps has 10 starts this year with an ERA of 3.81 as a starter. Lester is 1-1, 4.76 in 4 starts vs NY.

NY and Texas Even

NY and Texas Even

TX lost to Oak Monday night dropping them to 93-67, same as NY. TX has 2 more with Oak while NY has a pair left with Bos.

NY won the Series this Season from TX 4-3.

Should Oak sweep, they split the season with NY, 5-5.

In the spirit of these fine folk from Miami, I think someone needs to post a video in this thread saying incoherent sh*t like "THE ORIOLES ARE GONNA RUN A TRAIN ON THE YANKEES!" and give his opinion on the female population of NYC.

The poster should also be fat. And live in his mom's basement. And call players things like Matt Texeira and Alan Rodriguez. And be a virgin.

Jeter had 2 hits, 215 on the season. He's only had more hits once, 219 in '99.

I still don't understand why the team with the best record in the American League now has to play their first two games of a best of five on the road. Someone explain this to me, please.

Because they get HFA in 3 of the 5 games.

I understand that, but why go away from the 2-2-1 system to the 2-3 system. I don't think it is great of an advantage of having an extra home after having to be on the road for the first two, making that fifth game possibly moot.

I've seen some of the Baseball analysts talking about that too. Seems most feel it was a poor decision on baseball's part. Also think it is likely to be changed for next year.

Carbon footprint. It's a green playoff. Fans will be required to carpool.

Playing the first two on the road makes absolutely NO sense. Major scheduling f*ck up.
