DON'T TWEET AT RECRUITS.

THAT COMES DIRECTLY FROM ND THEMSELVES.

IF YOU WON'T LISTEN TO THE POWERS AT THE SCHOOL YOU'RE ROOTING FOR, THEN WHAT THE F*CK IS THE POINT?

STOP TWEETING KIDS.

Couldn't disagree more. Mercy/Grubl might have said inappropriate things in the past (I don't know his story) but Nebraska's social media interaction with recruits is a huge plus. These kids eat this sh!t up.

Grown men shouldn't be tweeting at minors, period, regardless of what Nebraska's doing.

Nebraska hasn't had a top 10 class in, for like, forever. So I question how much they truly "eat it up". Furthermore, there are a litany of examples of fan interaction on Twitter negatively effecting a recruitment. Including our fanbase.

Furthermore, the staff has specifically asked the fans not to do it, as they see it as an obstacle they are constantly fighting. They are the ones getting paid to recruit, not fans, so let them direct the narrative.

Plus... Grubl is a huge dumbass, do you really want him saying whatever he wants to potential recruits? You think that would help?

No. Don't tweet at recruits. Everyone thinks they are the exception.

"I'm not like those weird fans, I'm the cool 20-30 something tweeting at legal minors about their personal lives."

Fucking stop.

Take the tweet-whining to the appropriate thread.

This thread is for clowns who think we have a chance with a stud DE committed to an in-state school, where we won't even finish with us in his top 8.

Still disagree with you all. I've never sent a sports related tweet so I'm not defending myself but I also can see the good outweighs the bad.

Anyone who tweets at a 17-year old is a fucking loser. Reconsider your priorities in life.

I don't tweet recruits, and honestly ND football recruiting has taken such a backseat to UM/OSU that I don't even follow much anymore. I don't condone tweeting a recruit, but I also don't think every tweet is equally as evil.

Bottom line, NDCruisader doesn't deserve the below the belt comments from a guy who used to be kind of funny. Sort of. Cyber bullying is just as childish as whatever you fill-in-the-blank with.

I'll weigh in on this.

Full disclosure, I have at least three recruits in the last five cycles, and as many as a half dozen without much of a stretch that I could have picked up a telephone and called. (Without much research or effort.)

Instead, I've gone out of my way not to meet with, talk to, or even run into them casually. Why?

A) I am pretty secure with myself.
B) I don't think the weight of the western world, or the future of ND recruiting, rests in my hands.
C) I respect and love some of these kids. So much so that I want them to make the best decisions for themselves, regardless of what I want.
D) I have seen these kids (especially those that are really good ND prospects) understand that, and are intent on making really good decisions for themselves.
E) Anyone that has a concern about a kids decision making process can relate it to, 1) the board here, 2) the kids coach, 3) ND's staff or compliance, or if really you have to, 4) his parents.

It is my lesson that you never talk adult issues with kids. No matter how big the decision, or how close to adult they are. You leave that to the adults that are in their lives 24X7, their whole lives. It is their responsibility. It is their lives.

This is what I insist on with my kids. When we need information we will get it.

Now the exception to contacting kids, or their parents, etc., is if you are a member of the press, media, etc.

If you have a legitimate subscriber base interest, that is a whole different thing. But that should make any contact inquiry based. More or less. And that still needs to be done with precaution, and care.

It's so obviously not true and randomly crass that to me it doesn't qualify as an actual insult.

It's like when Wooly makes vague jokes implying that he's slept with certain poster's mothers. I wouldn't call that cyber bullying. We all know Wooly doesn't actually know anyone's actual mother. Hence the humor. (In before Wooly makes a comment about my mother.)

Again, this place attempts to have a sports bar amongst friends atmosphere. I think a "dick pics" joke is well within bounds particularly after the offended poster has stated that he doesn't actual message anyone and everyone reading is aware that it's a joke.

I guess that's fair. I don't think it was obvious that it was an all in good fun, bar stool crack, though. That's why I'd always add a wink back in the day, so people would know it was in good fun. I got ripped on for winking, even though I was using them just trying to make sure people took jokes as jokes, so I stopped.

FIFY (wink).

I also have a soft spot for NDCruisader because he's become invaluable to this site and is one hell of a poster.

I think another factor is that Rackem is well known for his... colorful humor. When Rackem says "Which spout do you use to blow up a sex doll?" I interpret it as "Are you having a nice day?"
