Gentlemen, I am new to this and probably am off-base, but should we be worrying about a nose tackle in this class? I never hear any comment about that so I assume that my concern is covered some way.

We are set at Nose for the next 4 years. Between Nix and Stockton, we will have an elite kid in their for the next two cycles. We can afford to skip a NT in this rotation and really zero in on a kid next cycle.

Also, rumor has it, that Omar Hunter is going to transfer...

Check out the Updated D Line thread...heres a clip

"As for Louis Nix, he'll join a crowded depth chart for defensive tackles, but was a critical recruit for Notre Dame, committing to assistant coach Tony Alford even when the Irish were without a head coach."

Only 1 DT on the field at a time with a depth of Ian Williams, Hafis Williams, Brandon Newman, and Louis Nix. Not to mention Tyler Stockton could play there, but I bet he plays DE due to our shortage there.

Besides an OT (most likely Xzavier Ward, Zach DeBell, or Antonio Richardson if any)

a RB (Savon Huggins, Justice Hayes...prob Mich St, Jameel Poteat...prob Pitt) almost a better chance with either of the Stanford kids who we have not even offered yet, Remound Wright/Amir Carlisle

and a WR (Kasen Williams, Miles Shuler, Hakeem Flowers, George Atkinson, or maybe Richard Rodgers plays here if he is the only commit of this group)

Looks like the rest of the targets/possible signees are on D. 8ish to go!

College football scene, There sure are a lot of good players interested in Notre Dame. Just imagine if we start out 5-1 or 6-0?

Apparently Lynch liked FSU on his visit and now has them and Florida as his top schools. I really hope he sees the light that ND is a perfect fit for him. He will be playing for the reigning coach of the year, get on the field quickly and if the pro route doesn't work out there's always the ND education to fall back on.

I'll wish him the best at Florida or FSU if he picks them though... because heaven forbid he has an injury and has to rely on one of those degrees to find a job.

Sorry I guess there is a LOT of misinformation on the internet. I just read an article on some board that said basically the opposite. My apologies.

Recruiting Week in Review

ISD | Recruiting Week in Review

About Hayes:
“He basically said I’m their guy,” remembered Hayes. “He said they have to recruit other running backs and there are a lot of other talented guys out there like Savon Huggins, but I’m basically their guy.”

“He basically said I’m their guy,” remembered Hayes. “He said they have to recruit other running backs and there are a lot of other talented guys out there like Savon Huggins, but I’m basically their guy.”

I'm sure Huggins loves hearing that. Hayes may be #1, #1a, #1b or even #2 or #3 on ND's running back list. All he said is that they "basically" told him that he is their guy. Translation = they didn't tell me that I'm their guy, but they gave me enough hints that I think I'm their guy.

Hypothetical Statement Coach makes to Hayes:
You know Justice, we have offers out to several very good running backs and we would be happy if any of those RB's came to Notre Dame. But Justice, you are a very special running back (pauses for dramatic effect) and if you chose ND, I wouldn't be just happy, I would be doing back flips off the end of my bed.

The coach hasn't lied in any way, but the recruit (in this example Justice) hears what he wants to hear and suddenly believes that he is the #1 RB on the board. The truth could be that the Coach could've made that hypothetical statement to any of our RB offers and not lied to any of them.

With all that said, do you think Justice is "basically" our guy?

would we take two running back?

The easy answer is that it depends. Right now we have an extra scholarship that we didn't anticipate with Badger taking his mission. If those two running backs were Huggins and Hayes (since Hayes could potentially DB in a pinch) then I could totally see us taking two.

Allen and Hughes will be gone after this season, so I don't see why not.

Richardson will not decide soon. I think ND has better shot than most think. We should get an OV if all goes well this weekend.

Kasen Williams should love to play in Kelly's offense. But Washington is a long way from South Bend.
