I don't know where to put this so here:

Brett McMurphy @McMurphyCBS

College football sources told @CBSSports there's "strong support" to increase bowl eligibility to 7 wins in 2014

Just another part of the healing process to fix college football.

Won't they have to eliminate some bowls then. Were there enough teams this year with 7 wins to fill all of the bowls?

i don't see the problem with having a bunch of bowl games...really what damage does it do?

agreed, more games for more teams... more money going through College Football. I have no problem with the amount of bowl games, but I do have a problem with the BCS games and them not being a playoff!

It might be also that some of sponsors can not afford to do a game by their selves so the NCAA comes up with 7 win idea to do away with a fews bowls bu some bowls have dual sponsors. This way the NCAA still makes their money and doesn't make any sponsors mad by dropping them.

The only thing I hope would happen is the time between the confrence championship games and the National Championship game would decrease. The more bowl games you have the more time is needed to play all of them. I would love to see the BCS Bowls back around new years like they were.

I don't see how some sponsors make money when there are only 20-40 thousand people at some of the lesser bowl games.

That's not where there money is made. It's all about TV, that's where the money is, not at the gate or concessions.

The TV networks and Sponsors are the ones making the money it's the universities that are losing money because they are obligated to purchase a certain amount of tickets for the own fans and if they don't sell they are on the hook for them.

Schools are willing to lose money going to a bowl, in exchange for the TV exposure.

Let's create enough bowls so that every team can play in one. That way, even the bad teams can get in the extra 15 practices, and one last shot at a victory. And the hundreds of people in attendance will rejoice.

Why are people talking about bowl games in the "Who is likely next?" thread?

The way I see is it is that I would rather watch two crappy teams play than the Sportscenter anchors' daily NFL circlejerk and the NBA.

I'll take the blame for this one. I posted the tweet from a football analyst who brought it up and I didn't want to create another thread and clog up everything. Figured I would try to keep it clean. We should have, if we don't already, a general thread where we can dump this type of stuff into it.

Soooooo, unless Poole does the unexpected and swithes to the Irish, we're drawing a blank, a zero, a zippo, a nada, a null on the remaining BIG TIME offers that ND has extended accoridng to Scout, huh? If so, hopefully Standifer gets things in line and signs Irish.

Like I mentioned before, we passed on some pretty talented players to keep schollie's open for the mega stars. It might burn us this year, but we do have 5th year fall backs.

I am really interested to see what happens next year when we have limited spots available and there are talented players that are 4*'s that want to come to ND but they might be a few slots lower on the big board than a top 50 player nationally. Does our staff slow play again? How many do they slow play? Last year they hit homeruns, this year they hit some doubles, but struck out too. Do they adjust for 2013?

Remember what TP said. You'll be pleasantly surprised come NSD...

I'm not buying that solely because I'd like to be pleasantly surprised come NSD. Better than getting really excited only to realize Mike Golic Jr. is coming back for a 5th year.

Sure hope he's right. I am pretty happy with our current class but am still wishing we had Darby in the fold. In my opinion we would need him back or land Mr. Poole for me to be completely content. Anything is possible but we will all just have to wait and see what happens.

I like TP and think he brings some stuff here that few others can. That being said, let's get off his jock for a minute here. Does TP know where the Armsteads are going? Darby? Poole? Neal? Name-your-undecided-recruit? NO. He doesn't know because the kids themselves don't know. Yesterday, Philly seemed to tout Sampson for saying we would get Poole...TWO MONTHS AGO. Was there a big ploy, a ruse, a blood oath of sorts where Sampson somehow knew where Poole would go to school...yet Poole himself didn't know???

When it comes to "predicting" where a lot of these kids are going, TP, Sampson, Scatman Crothers, the octopus from the World Cup, Trinity, and myself all have as much "insight" and ability to predict the future as anybody else.

I think these guys sometimes know more than you think, but I'd agree that a lot of time it is just speculation and guessing.

All I'm saying is that there's no reason not to be optimistic.

these guys have earned their rep around here and until other wise i think we need to give them the benefit of the doubt and trust me it'll only take one mistake for me to lose faith, but until that happens i'll trust
