With players like Goodman on the field is why we WON'T get back to the top of college football.

1. Don't bash our players. Only warning. Discussion regarding pros and cons, strengths and weaknessess is certainly encourgaged. That kind of talk is not.

2. Every great team needs a mix of stars and role players. Doesn't belittle the role players, but on a great team everyone knows their roles and takes pride in them. I would absolutely build a top college football team with Floyds, DDs, Greenberrys as my stars, but I would also supplement them with hardworking, blue collar, do anything for the team players like Goody, Toma, and honestly even Walker (who never complained despite lack of playing time, and is a prime example of a kid choosing ND for the right reasons, recognizing all that it provided, and not letting a lack of playing time discourage him from that foresight).

Goodman has 2 years in the Kelly system, he is big, fast, and smart. IMO i am happy he is coming back and will prove his worth.

When you say "prove his worth", do you mean that by pushing other receivers, being a leader, and providing depth? Or do you mean he will prove it with his play on the field?

I am curious, what is it about Goodman that you dislike?

He has nothing to offer. I like i said he couldn't beat out a bad WR core last year what makes you think he can this year? He is at best an average WR. The coaching staff didn't even think enough of him that when an injury occurred that Toma filled in.

Unless DD is truly magical, no one will take our record breaking receivers spot, however, just like in moneyball (sick movie), we need to recreate him. That responsibly has to be picked up by all our receivers, I see goodman getting an alot bigger workload this year and stepping up to the challenge, IMO

good luck with the goodman thing. I don't see him stepping up. I say theo and t j jones will good years and toma we will see alot more of ( i hope). lets not forget efiert (sp). I am just not too high on goodman. think so of the freshman from 11 or 12 class will pass him by on depth chart. I hope i am wrong on goodman and he has a great year but I don't look for it.

I have followed Goodie since he was in HS, I always thought he would have a better career than what he has had thusfar, and now it is his time to step up. I think he will surprise some ppl.

I think he could mentor the younger more inexperienced players on route running and learning the playbook. I hope he pushes for playing time, and we all know that BK likes using alot of WR in his O. Listen Goodie has all the tools I think his issue is confidence. Look at the bowl game, one of the last critical plays he did not go up and get the ball like it was his, he hesitated and that is when the ball was picked.

Bad receiving core? Really...? He couldn't beat out Floyd...

Here is Goodman's potential....

I understand what you are saying but then is cost us Ekanem. I think i would much rather have him then Goodman.

I'm a little disappointed we gave up on Ekanem too, but I don't think this is an apt comparison. If we take Ekanem and it doesn't work out (e.g., because of his knee), then we've tied a scholarship up for four years with little return. By inviting Goodman back instead, whether he's a significant contributor next year or not, that scholarship is free to use with the 2013 class, where we're going to be very tight on numbers.

The same could have been said of Dayne Crist from that clip, and we all know how that ended.

Goodman was Floyds backup.
Goodie wasnt slotted for the Riddick/Toma spot or the TJ Spot.
NO ONE was getting PT as long as ole Mike was in there...and NO ONE (except for the OSU kid) was overtaking Floyd for his spot.
dont hate on Gooodie because kelly told him to fair catch every punt.

and BTW have you ever considered we need Goodie because Davaris Daniels may not be progressing enough just yet?
there have been some reports to this effect by some premie mods, and those guys do go to the practice and chat with the assistants asnd are always asking about the underclassmen, asking who shows promise and truth be told DD has been an enigma so far...at best.

Please...if he was one of the three best receivers on the team, he would have started (or at least received significant playing time), regardless of X, Y, or Z.

that was a sweet play crist to goodie...the next ND series was when Crist blew out his knee the first time...UGH (can still picture it on the run out to the right side-beginning of the end for crist right there)

So Rios was the humungous surprise everyone's been talking about? I kinda got the idea the player was supposed to be more of an elite guy.

I agree. I was under the assumption it was a surprise commit...not visitor. Guess I misread somewhere along the line.

He was the surprise Sapp was talking about. We still don't know whether TP was referring to Rios or to someone else, but from the timing it seems that TP was referring to Rios too.

I think it can be safely assumed that at the very least, the "surprise better than Agholor" that TP referred to was not Rios. He may or may not have had info on Rios, but I highly doubt that he considered Rios a better prospect nor a bigger surprise than Agholor.

True. I can't even think what TP could have meant by that. (Did he even say it? or are we misconstruing?) Who would be better than Agholor? Arguably no one.
