You saw somewhere where Kelly or Diaco discussed recruiting numbers for the 2013 class? I guess I missed that. A link would be great.

All your numbers in that breakdown were for elite players? You're expecting ND to land elite players at every position? Pretty bold. Most teams hope for one or two elite players for a whole class.

I would but thats a lot of digging; Im pretty sure a recruit said it in a interview with 247

not that bold, 4* and above

QB Alviti, couple other options
RB Issac and Elliot, many other options
WR Onwualu and ____, many elite options for blank spot
TE see other posts in thread
OL Bivin, Elmer, Pocic, McGovern, bountiless options
DE _____ many options
LB Smith, Hollins Jr., Anzalone, barnwell, Cox , many options
CB Willis and/or Hawkins, couple elite options
S _____ no clue

that being said this will probably dramtically change by next spring who I think we could get

Right now, I am hoping to get some commits from some of the elite lineman. We have a pretty good start in terms of elite players having legit interest in us. If we win the games, I think we will be having a pretty nice looking class.

I thought McGovern was pretty close, but there's new info from Wiltfong on 247, and McGovern sounds pretty undecided, with lots of visits to other places scheduled. May not be able to lock him up just yet ...

I dont think that recruitment is done though...

We messed up his recruitment last summer. Warrnier Molnar didnt like him. TJ has already said there our guys on the board who fit our spread better. We already have Elmer. We are in it for Bivin, Mcgovern, and Pocic. Also guys will pop up on the radar. Its only Feb. long way to go.

Seems like a methodical year, or is it because of the coaching changes?

Hey, Michigan fan here, I sometimes read this site since I like to know what's going on with one of our biggest rivals, and this place is infinitely more sane than NDNation.

You guys seem to have a lot of confidence that ND will flip several of Michigan's current commits, and who knows, that may come true - 2013 NSD is obviously a long way off. Especially if Michigan falls flat on its face this year.

That said, as a counter-point, Michigan had most of its verbal commitments very early last year as well (majority of the class was full by summer). Out of all those players, all but two ended up signing with UM, and the two that didn't were booted by the staff, not the other way around. This was despite the Urban Meyer poaching extravaganza, other top schools working hard to flip our best commits, etc. So there is a (small) track record of Hoke + co. being pretty successful at retaining early commitments. They make it clear that visiting other schools = you are not part of the class, and have a major "family" atmosphere/vibe going on (feel free to laugh at that, but multiple recruits have cited it as the preeminent reason they stuck with Michigan). On-field success will obviously play a huge role in whether 2013 commits stick or not, but the above factors give some additional measure of confidence that they will.

Guess we'll see.

I just hope its not another yr of a lot of swings and misses while we slow play guys and scramble at the last minute....not saying it will be because I think we will have decent season but i am just saying.

I hear ya. I think its important though to remember how early it is in the recruiting process for this class. I was also a bit disappointed in some of our misses last year. There is no doubt in my mind though that BK and staff will build and put together a solid class this year.

It is very early, but everybody else seems to have got off to a flier. It's not just Texas this year and with Michigan racing ahead and Urban just warming up it appears we are lagging behind. I hope this weekend produces something just to give a boost.

Keep in mind, ND won 8 games last season and ended w a top 10 class. There is some top flight talent enrolled and en route.

I know its been said over and over but with some big wins I see landing a RIDICULOUS class this 2013 cycle (maybe even snagging a couple former Michigan guys, although if we do my co-worker will say "oh they were getting pushed out the door anyways")

Epitome's Magic 8-Ball said, "All signs point to Bivin."

No info, no source.

Calling it "top 10" I think is extremely debatable. 2011 in comparison, was definitely top 10.

I don't understand how linking three sites, two of which had ND out of the top ten, would make me rethink my position. ESPN has us at 9, Scout at 16, 247 at 12, and Rivals at 20. Our average class ranking is 14-15.

You made it seem absurd that we'd even be considered a top 10 class (not that class rankings matter all that much to me anyway)

You're trying to stretch the truth just to be negative

I said calling it a top 10 class is debatable, meaning both sides can be argued. I don't think this class should just be nonchalantly referred to as a "top 10 class." Not a big deal.
