You are cherry picking individual points from the list and saying each one by itself isn't a big deal, and I agree. However, when they all happen within a week of another, it creates drama. Obviously. Look at all the message boards.
I didn't cherry pick anything. I gave a response to EVERY point.
Is your argument that a statement from Swarbrick is somehow a bad idea? I don't get it.
not sure what else to say other than at the start of the season we lost to a TERRIBLE texas, msu and duke team
at the end of the season we beat miami, lost by 3 to the team playing in the acc championship game, lost by 1 point to Navy currently #19 (should have beat them) and played usc extremely hard except for TERRIBLE special teams we may have won...so we didn't regress
Yep done, head in the sand...I don't have the stomach to watch that video. Oh well, more free time this offseason.
Enjoy your summer!!! I know my wife will!!!!!!!See everybody in 2018!

Swarbrick denies that anything is going on. Everything is fine, etc.
Also last year was "one of the best coaching jobs he has seen." Again, we were 0-3 vs. the good teams last year. Last year's team underachieved. Enough with acting like last year was a huge triumph. It wasn't.
1) Can someone briefly summarize this? Can't listen at work. Reps will be awarded.
2) When was it taped?
3) Does he ever specifically say Brian Kelly will be our coach in 2017?
It was recorded this week. It's business as usual, Kelly is staying. Basically Swarbrick thinks 2015 was an incredible coaching job so Kelly gets a pass for 2016.

Summary:
- Not negotiating a buyout with Kelly
- "Last year was one of the best coaching jobs I have seen...I don't look at it [this year] in isolation"
- Wins and losses alone do not speak to the health of the program
- "This is one of the more remarkable teams in terms if its identity" (?)
- He discusses the NCAA violations
- He last spoke with Kelly on "yesterday [Tuesday]"
- Swarbrick says he "talked" with Kelly about whether or not he is looking for another job and already knew the answer, which we are meant to assume was no but he never actually says was no.
It was taped Wednesday afternoon.
Yes, he says that BK will be our coach next year. And that we should move on to basketball. (We already have, Jack!)
For me, the main troubling item of that interview was that Jack avoided answering this question directly. I believe BK was looking and Jack read him the riot act.
I'm dead on the inside.
Or.......... he might not have wanted to out Kelly's agent as being the source of all of the controversy, since he has to negotiate with Kelly's agent. But, either way, Swarbrick sure seemed convinced that this(Kelly looking for other work) was a non-issue; whether it never was, or it was and has been taken care of.
It might still be an issue. Swarbrick's job is to tell the kids that all is well if mommy and daddy are going to stay together.
My pet theory is that Swarbrick wants - has always wanted and planned - to keep BK on. And Kelly wanted and planned to stay. But Swarbrick started getting pressure from above. BK felt it and maybe started looking around. But it's not like Swarbrick has a better option up his sleeve, so he can't push BK out. Nor does BK have another job at this point, so he's not going to go first.
So basically they're all kind of in limbo for now. Would also explain why there's been no movement on the rest of the coaching staff. You don't hire or fire assistants if you don't know your own status.
You do realize ND's season just ended 6 days ago and some of the coaches that we might want to target are still getting ready for games this weekend, right?
