That would be the end of my ND fandom after 35+ years. I know his family and they are all cocksuckers. He would do what Kelly does and just hire all his boys including his idiot brother.

Please explain how you know him and his family. And go into details why you think he would not be a good fit at Notre Dame.

You have really brought me down on this now.

Excellent. I'm glad you two think it would be a good hire.

Now Jack let's get this done!

He was a disaster at Denver and he will get twice the media attention at ND compared to Denver. No thanks

What do you expect from a McKinley family?

Why do we even think a change will be made? F. Lee Swarbrick, Kelly's attorney, informed us on the State Television Network that everything is fine.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zwuSXr-syuU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Some nuggets (from about 9-12 minutes in):
"We want to win and we want to win championships, but if that's all you're measuring it [the program] on you'll get really bad reads."
Right, but surely winning plays some role in your assessment?

"You don't have any of the signs of a program in distress."
Losing to garbage teams week in and week out, weekly social media embarrassments, coaches being fired, HC blaming everyone else, ND becoming the easy win on everyone's schedule, etc., etc.? What would constitute "distress," counsel?

"Some teams...win games that maybe they shouldn't. They find a way. This team has struggled to find a way. It has been in a position to win every game."
Meaning: it is all random. This is a loser attitude. And we shouldn't be in a "position" to win games. We should be totally destroying these garbage opponents.

"My confidence in Brian is as strong today as it was when we were on our way to an undefeated season and a national championship [sic]."
If so, F. Lee Swarbrick is delusional. Also, can we stop with the 'undefeated season' B.S.? It's an embarrassment to see people wearing t-shirts that say something everyone knows to be false.

"I understand the distress our fans feel, especially in a social media world that wants instant results..."
It's year 7. Year. 7.

This circus has become a disgrace to the university, but the higher-ups are circling the wagons around Kelly. If ND is going to insult our intelligence in this way, while demanding more and more for tickets, the whole lot should be fired, starting with Swarbrick.

Part of the problem with bringing Kelly back next year is ND should be good next year. Really good. If ND goes 10-2 or better, that is another feather in BK's cap, and buys him another couple years. Those extra couple years, based on BK's history and track record, mean 8-5, 9-4 type seasons. So after 1 year of a good a product on the field and ND being recognized (on a national level) as being good and relevant, ND moves back into the mediocre mold. Situations like Richt at Georgia, Nutt at Arkansas, Cooper at Ohio State, etc., in hindsight, are all maddening, and usually end up causing the program more harm than good.

All that being said, football coach at ND is undoubtedly a unique position in football, at any level. For the most part, we all understand and appreciate that on this board. Rocket brought this up a couple weeks ago and I mostly agree with him-- Chris Petersen may be the only guy out there that would legitimately come to ND...and win. The only problem with Petersen is that I don't think he's an "ND guy." Going back to the early 80's, I think the coaches that have been an "ND guy" are Faust, Holtz, and Weis. 2 of those guys weren't very good as actual coaches though. Holtz was and is a legend. Davie, Ty, and unfortunately Kelly, aren't "ND guys." My biggest fear when ND hired BK was that he wasn't. I felt he had the resume as a great coach, but questioned if he would be a great coach...at ND. I think we all wanted to believe BK was and is an "ND guy," but I think we were fooled somewhat by his personal ambition, further enhanced by his savvy political past. While I think Chris Petersen is legitimately one of the best coaches in all of football, I'm not sure he is an "ND guy."

ND needs (and I will say MUST HAVE) an "ND guy," in addition to be an outstanding coach. ND needs a coach that gets goosebumps walking onto campus. ND needs a coach that truly understands that ND is not just a historically significant football program, but a program that MADE history in football. ND needs a coach that feels the desire of young Catholic men, from all across our nation, to represent it's most famous and distinguished university on the football field. ND needs a coach that appreciates the difficulty, bigotry, and plight Catholics have faced in our nation. ND needs a coach that not only fully comprehends what the words "Our Lady" truly represent and mean, but will make sure his staff and players all comprehend that as well. ND needs a coach that will give every ounce he can of blood, sweat, and tears to fight for and represent Our Lady. ND needs a coach that can do all these things, and still be an excellent football mind and cultivate development and growth for the young men that play football for Our Lady.

I'm not sure Chris Petersen is that guy. Unfortunately, I'm not sure who that guy is.

Why doesn't Tom Clements ever get mentioned? He is a ND man if there was ever one. Sadly time has passed him by, I believe he is 63. Was he under consideration when Weis was hired?

He hates CFB, specifically the media and boosters. And he's unlikable. But Nick Saban is also one unlikable SOB and hates the media and he's made it work. If you get Ws, I think you can get a "pass" even in a fish bowl like ND.

What I think will be interesting to see... cuz Chip sure as hell isn't getting another NFL HC job... is what college marriage he makes when he gets fired in San Fran. Methinks he goes SEC.

PJ Fleck would be an awesome culture clash with ND for so many reasons. I think he's exactly the kind of take-no-prisoners attitude we need... but I don't know how the heck you'd get Jenkins, etc. on board with someone like him.

I actually think Chip ends up at Arizona or Arizona State. I don't think he fits the SEC...and I believe he knows it. But then again...he might try it if the $$$ was there.

For all the people who want PJ Fleck...WHY?? Again I ask WHY??

He is having a great year in the MAC, our current coach succeeded in the MAC. He is a bandwagon coach, no thanks, and I would want to see more experience from him. Fleck's time will come.

If Kelly had to be replaced today I vote for Chris Petersen of Washington. He won at Boise State, he is winning at Washington, and I think his team is the only team that could give Alabama a game.

Which is called the "cradle of coaches" for a reason. He taken a doormat program and made them ranked for the first time EVER. He has tons of energy and recruits harder than anyone.

The MAC isn't the Cradle of Coaches. Miami U is. But we were fresh out of coaches in Oxford and had to borrow one of BK's Grand Valley St boys from ND and we're 6-25 since and trending down. Can't wait till Martin's back in South Bend as a recycled offensive analyst.

Why? Who cares? If Davie or Willingham could have coached and recruited they would still be here. I don't buy for one second that he reason either of them didn't succeed is because they weren't ND guys. If Mitt Romney knew how to coach and recruit football like Nick Saban him and his special underwear should be on the first flight to South Bend. Who cares if he doesn't know a thing about the catholic plight.

Don't want to get into specifics but I know him and his family through playing, coaching and mutual friends. I really don't like any of them. Little known fact that Josh was a GA under Saban at MSU and quit because it was too hard and not "big timey" enough for him. He was in sales when his Dad asked Belicheck to give him a job.

According to Mike Frank BK's buyout would be on Weis' level, if not more.

Give him a new contract just in time for shit to hit the fan. I swear we're fucking cursed.
