Who do you want to replace Brian Kelly?

I'm not fan of getting an NFL coach unless he's been a HC at the collegiate level before. Many don't realize the time and effort required to recruit, the headaches dealing with school administration and all of the outside obligations that come with the position.

Even though he didn't like it, I think that O'Brien's time at PSU would help him a ton.

BK is pissed about questions outside of the U$C game.... not taking any questions unless it is about U$C game.

I'd throw Greg Schiano on a list of candidates for ND to look at. Like LSU wanting an offensive minded HC, I think ND needs a defensive minded coach. Granted, he would need to bring on a proven OC, but I'd give the guy a hard look.

I actually agree with this.

Finally asked about being HC at ND next year...... has no reason why he won't be....confusing the HC job with the Irish 2016 record.

Jack told BK about this last Wednesday. There's your cause. Fire immediately let Denbrock coach them in LA?

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. I think Kelly is an average coach and has so shown so in 7 years at ND. People act like losing to Navy or Duke or [insert bad team] is something that has just happened this year. Outside of 2012 and 2015, that's been the case every year. What year was it that Navy blew him out because they ran the veer? What year did he lose to Northwestern? What year did he say that he couldn't rush against Purdue because of their defense and putting 7 guys into the box and it might be the best defense faced all year - it was the year Wisconsin rushed for like 300+ yards the next game against Purdue. He's average.

If I wanted to pile on, I would point out that he is a jerk and let a kid die at practice.

Again, please don't make the mistake of thinking, just because people are accepting that Brian Kelly is probably done as the Head Coach at Notre Dame, that all of us will sit idly by and allow @ssholes who have probably never coached anything beyond their kid's 12 yo soccer team to come on here and make fools of themselves by claiming that Kelly killed Declan Sullivan.

Serious question....what do you mean Jack told him last Wednesday (about what) and that is cause?

I am assuming he is saying that Jack new this was the outcome and this is the reason to fire kelly.

Sorry, didn't realize i was breaking the story in this thread.

The sanctions started on 11-16-16 through 11-16-17. That was last Wednesday. So Swarbrick has been negotiating this deal for a while and knew the outcome last Wednesday when the sanctions began.

Never said he killed Sullivan. But I lot of sites (Deadspin, NDnation) are quick to blame Kelly and ND. And if I really wanted to pile on a crazy average coach, I would beat this drum.

However, I played football (non-D1 sorry! I know nothing!). Kelly is an average coach. But thanks for the name calling. Sorry you don't know anything about football?

You are not going to make it very long here with posts like this and spewing "I played football, you didn't" BS.

The I played football, you didn't is not BS. I listen to players and coaches before any fan or journalist as a general rule because they actually have experience in the game.

For the rest of what he said, I have no comment.

Completely agree. I think he'd do very well here. Has a bunch of HC experience, built up a program at Rutgers, worked under Meyer. Think he would bring a toughness that is sorely needed.

Looks like Charlie Strong is out at TX, it had already been announced down here in Texas.

If BK makes it through this season, what about Strong as the DC for the next few years? ND is a big time school and it would help rebuild his reputation.

It's one thing if Nick Saban starts posting on here commenting on coaching. It's another thing if an anonymous poster on an Internet message board retorts another poster on the basis that "he played football" so he must know better. It's dumb.

It would be no different than us having a debate on Roe v. Wade and me trying to shut someone down by saying I'm a lawyer so I know better.

He's been there once so, he knows the rules and what is expected. I personally believe it would benefit the Irish.

Same thing actually. If you're a lawyer, I'm not arguing Roe v. Wade with you. It's law... you win, I lose... every time.

Is BK the worst ND coach of all time? There's never been more scandals or losses.

For the record, Believe me or not, and this can and probably will change, but I know people close to PJ Fleck, and he has told them he thinks he will be either at Oregon, UNC (wonder where Fedora is going) or stay at WMU

Joe Kuharich by a mile.

Wow.... you have been watching them a long time. I remember my Grandfather and Dad talking about him. I never got to see him coach of course. So I can't judge him. But Faust, geez louiz, now talk about some bad play-calling.......

No, that's not how this works. I could be a really shitty, dumb lawyer. Someone who played football could have been really bad, lazy, and generally has no unique insight to offer. I'm not saying a person who played football can't offer unique insight, but it's BS to try and tell someone they are wrong and you are right just because of that.

This is an anonymous message board. If people could just go around saying things like that, people would make up professions and credentials just to win an argument.

Lawyers can't agree on Roe V. Wade between themselves, by the way.

Nope, I'm your age. Faust's first year was my first year of HS.

The guys I watch games with were at ND at that time, one of them went 4 years and never saw a winning team. Three years of Kuharich at 12-18 and Hugh Devore in '63 at 2-7. 14-25 over 4 years. The worst run in program history. But he's 75ish and at the game watches every week cheering on the Irish.

BTW... I had to look up the exact records.
