I'm giving up the same thing I do every Lent...I'm giving up not eating meat on Fridays. It's not that I'm trying to be a bad Catholic, I just always forget...most of the time. Usually I find myself making sandwiches on a Friday, I finish eating and think "crap, today was Friday." That, or I'm in the drive through because I'm in a rush, I pay for my food and realize "crap, today was Friday."
To be honest, I find the whole practice kind of stupid. It's a self imposed ban by the big wigs of the church, not something that came down from the Almighty. I'm fine with giving a vice up for Lent, it makes sense to better oneself and all that. I just think the meat stipulation is stupid as a requirement. It was banned in olden times because it was traditionally seen as a luxury, something that was reserved for feasts and celebrations. That's no longer the case today, meat is everywhere and in my culture it's seen as the primary food group for every meal.
