What video game are you playing?

I assume someone summed 30 years and you just can’t get to 100? I’ve been playing and am at level 28 and in year three,.. where is everyone seeing the option to buy coach points? I’m not even seeing anything. Not got that or NIL

not anything directly NIL related. Just the coach tree. I think if you try to upgrade when you have no available points it will prompt you with it.

But the key understanding is the intentional term coach tree. It has not ever meant to be I go from 1 vertically to 100 and get everything. It is I choose which branch I want to specialize in.

I have been having a good time. But I also basically only use the games as a way to scratch my ND itch. Totally understand people not wanting microtransactions in single player games.

From a philosophical standpoint, it's not like I agree with "late-stage capitalism" but also is the mega corp not supposed to do mega corp things? They want to make money, microtransactions are a big part of the current model of video game profits. Limiting it to CUT/MUT seems like bad business strategy on a macro scale (even if I don't like it) This was all pretty clearly going to happen once private equity got involved.

So I’m trying to understand what the visceral reactions are… that’s all and I’m dumb so I could be completely missing something but in the game now and looking it up online. There is no purchasing NIL in dynasty (which was one of the dynamics cited) , it’s locked by school circumstance, so that one isn’t a thing. Coach XP works just fine in my offline mode and there is no option to boost it with micro transactions that I can find anywhere. Online it tells me that in ONLINE multiplayer dynasties this is apparently a thing… but not in offline dynasties.

My honest thoughts, if you play offline dynasty it’s a big upgrade with recruiting and school blueprints, you not only have NiL to deal with but also upgrading facilities, staff, etc that also takes NIL funds so you have to really think and be deliberate. I’m really enjoying it and it would suck if any of my IE brethren took this year off because of things that don’t even impact offline dynasty. I think it’s the best dynasty mode in a long, long while,… Yall do you though, and again, I could be missing some option that is buried somewhere but I just looked pretty damn hard.

What world am I living in?? In offline dynasty as it too is the only thing I play,… My coach is progressing nicely,… without touching anything. I don’t even see an option to pay extra money for coaching upgrades or NIL and I spent time looking to see what the fuss was all about,… I’m like, ‘is this a psyop?’

Looks like EA was aware of said "what psyop world" youre living in and relented.

They are removing all paid progression from the game.

The outcry worked and gamers are better off for it.

They're plan was to implement the same system in all their game's offline modes, FIFA, Madden, UFC, College Basketball (if they follow through with it)

I sincerely doubt they'll try that shit now. Big win for consumers.

Ok so it was only in online modes,… there was the disconnect.

Ahh...

Well it was RTG too... but yeah. Online or cloud based dynasties were the only ones affected, but those are normally only played with friends or yourself in the case of RTG

Still... A major win for consumers and community pushback against microtransactions of any sort

I dont care what ultimate team weirdos choose to do... I would advocate they shouldn't have to pay either... but thats been how it is from the jump

They changed this from last year to this and didn't tell anyone, including the creators they invited to pre-play (hype) the game *and the developers*

Wild shit.

Good win

So glad the devs at EA visited IrishEnvy, saw my post about being a washed old man that was going to boycott their game that has already sold millions of copies, and decided to relent in their greed-fueled, anti-consumer ways.

Black Flag Resynced is great, btw

So I'm watching Phish play a simulcast at Deer Creek and I fired up my dynasty.

The Irish were tapping the sign when the Down With Disease intro started... I got the first TD after shutting them down, forcing a punt, and Ian Premer caught a 25 yard slant from CJ when the song peaked

This is all too much

A. Williams and K. Young are elite in the game...I have found Carr, or at least high rated QB's to not be as robo/automatic.

The execs of these gaming companies absolutely know they have customer base that is essentially like smokers. They will pay anything for the product. The game developer studios themselves aren't really in on it. Companies like 2K don't even make video games. They are just the publisher. They have studio partners that actually make the games.

This is a great example of why I'm leaning so hard into PC though. On PC when devs do something that negatively affects my enjoyment of the product, it's very likely that someone smarter than me has already jailbroken the game and modded those restrictions out.

PC has been the way to go for a long time, and it's getting harder to deny it. My fallback was always that I would get certain games on console only if I planned on playing them with buddies that only had consoles. Now that many games have crossplay? My consoles are collecting a lot of dust. Games tend to run faster on PC, there's the modding, and these days you don't really have to worry about having a backwards compatible system available if you want to play an old game on PC (Unlike old games on consoles). I still have all my old consoles, but they get played less and less every year.

At one point I still bought certain games on consoles if I could get it on disc, thinking it might be more future proof in the unlikely event that Steam collapses 30 years from now and I want to really play certain games...I can't even use that excuse now that companies are moving away from physical media.

I havent bought a console in my life. My dad would buy us Nintendo because he was a Nintendo guy. He did not like the Wii and bought a 360 the following year for me. That was 2008.

I doubt I'll buy a console again other than as a gift for kids. PC is so far superior it's laughable, so long as you have the coin to spend a bit more or you can build it yourself.

Playing some Rhythm Doctor on PC after several people I follow sung it's praises. Just a rhythm game where you have to press a button on the seventh beat. Does a lot of creative stuff to mix it up and is hard as hell. Soundtrack goes very hard.

I've built all my own computers since 2000. I'd typically get good parts from like...2 years back, stuff that was really good then but not the latest stuff so I could save a buck. It resulted in a lot of great builds that could last without breaking the bank. I was going to do the same after tax season this year to build my kids a computer they could do school work on and game. RAM prices have been so ridiculous though with the AI boom, it ended up being hundreds cheaper to buy a prebuilt computer from MicroCenter. Never bought a prebuilt before now, felt a bit like a phony, but it had all the parts I was going to put in anyway and I guess my pride can take a hit to save money

Looks pretty hardcore badass, only a solo thing or can it scratch a rock bandesque itch with a group?

You have to step up in the pocket

Even really good QBs suck if we do the same thing I'm used to re: dropping back all the time
